Thanks:-) I always thought the PTI one was cute too! I was so happy to see this! And hey, can you ever really have enough canning jar stamps??? I think not:cool:
My son is a college student at Ball State University, founded by the Ball canning jar people. So yeah, I'm using that as my excuse to accumulate another canning jar stamp. ;)
OK, help me here. I'm not seeing the appeal of the canning jar stamps. They haven't grabbed me yet. (not that I can afford MORE things from that catalogue!)
Why do I need them? (just think ... if you can help me ... then I can 'help' others *need* them!)

Well, if you need inspiration, just put PTI Friendship Jar in the gallery search. You'll come up with all kinds of great projects! Here's one I did recently:
Also, canning and preserving is making a BIG comeback as food prices soar. I gave canned jam as gifts this summer, and hope to can salsa and apple butter to give as gifts over the holidays.
Canning jars are just a cute iconic image (like the old-fashioned typewriter trend). You can put anything inside of a canning jar...lightning bugs, fruit, flowers, it's endless. Thus far, I've seen the mason/canning jar trend from PTI, Dear Lizzie, Cosmo Cricket, and Crate Paper. There's something nostalgic and homespun about them. That's why I love them!

lol, they ARE cute, but I'm with you! I still can't seem to fill my gumball machine from Sweet Treats, or my plastic bag from...that other set

In the Holiday Mini on page 14 there is a Bigz die set of 3 snowflakes for 21.94. I thought I wanted it until I saw this Spellbinders' die, which has 7 dies for 24.99.

The Bigz die will cut through metal, which means you can make cute metallic snowflake ornaments. It'll cut through a lot of things.
Remember though ... I'm biased!

The Spellbinders sometimes stick to cardstock and the paper tears when you try to detach it. I agree that the SU Bigz is the way to go. Not only does it cut through almost anyhting, it gives a nice clean cut.
If you have a SU! demo, she should be able to give you a paper copy. Mine have arrived, so my customers will be getting them.
If y'all were near me, I'd be happy to help!
(It really is so much better in person!)

I guess for the price I would prefer the Spellbinders. HOWEVER, I am not a fan of the eight-point snowflake, or the two little triangular snowflakes. Also, I would not buy the Spellbinders at the retail price of $24.99. I would wait for someone to have a sale (to $17 or $16) and perhaps buy it at one of the (out of state; to avoid taxes) stores that offer free shipping over a certain amount. I never cut metal or fabric though. I only work with cardstock.
Also keep in mind that if you are not a demo, you'd not only have to pay $21.95, but also the tax and shipping and handling (and tax on that shipping and handling)...so it would actually be about ...$26??
Also, if space is an issue, remember that the Bigz dies are thick, while the Spellbinders are thin. My two Bigz dies take up more room than my eight Nestabilities sets. Actually, one Bigz die takes up more room than the eight sets.
Also, if snowflake size is an issue, I'm not sure how big the largest Spellbinders snowflake is. The SU! one is 3 5/8 square...
