SU Color Caddy.. do you have one and do you love it?
Considering getting my crowded ink pad drawer cleared out and looking for storage solutions. Do you have the color caddy? Do you love it? The pads don't fall out when you turn it LOL?! The slip in and out easily and you couldn't live without it?! Do other companies' ink pads fit at all? I don't have enough SU to fill up the slots but have other ink pads, too.
And... if you don't like it... have you found something else that you love for your ink pads?
Thanks a bunch - I won't make this choice without advice from the pros!
You can outgrow the color caddy fast, especially with the in colors and others besides the core 48. Mine never turned well, and it frustrated me, so I got a wooden one that has slots and no turning involved. I sold my color caddy on ebay!!

I have 2 Color Caddys and I love them both! They do not spin freely, but they are not supposed to (otherwise your ink pads would fly all over the room!). I have no problem getting my pads in and out of the caddy, I even have some of my non-SU ink pads in one of them. HTH!

Had one, hated it...felt like it dominated my stamping desk and was lurking over my shoulder while I worked.....I have a small craft area and it was huge. I also have only about 25 ink pads and it wasn't full you see......so I traded it on this site for some stamp sets. I figure I got a great deal and I hope the other tradee thought so also.
what do I use instead....the rectangular wire mesh desk accessories--these are made to hold floppy discs I think....I zip strip them together...have four stacked 2 x 2 and each of them holds 10 pads easily in 2 stacks of 5-----I use another to hold cat's eyes pads and spots, just kinda jumbled in and the other one I have is empty at this point but won't be for long.
this arrangement takes up less desk space, is shorter than the color caddy and doesn't give me the feeling of lurking......so i am a happy stamper.

I have 3 and love them! I have one full of SU classic ink pads, one full of SU craft ink pads and one that is almost full of SU In Colors, StazOn, and misc. other stamp pads. When this one fills up, I will be getting another one. I like that it is just "stiff" enough turning that the ink pads stay secure.

My caddy didn't turn easily either, so my SIL made me a lazy susan for underneath it. Now it turns fine, not fast, but it doesn't hang up either. Mine is clear full of all the SU basic color pads, plus some of the in colors. My SU craft inks are all the small spots. All four color families fit in two of the SU clam shells.
I guess the color caddy is just a matter of preference.

I have it, I love it and I highly recommend it! Mine turned very hard at first but has loosened up with use. I'm not a Bold Bright person, so I'm not likely to outgrow mine anytime soon, but I can see buying the extension when that time comes. The pads don't fall out and they clip in easily. I write with a fine permanent ink pen the names of the colors on the edge that faces out for easy grabbin' and stampin'.

I liked the idea, but did not want to take up that much space on my flat surfaces.
I had seen a storage solution here a long time ago that were actually Ikea DVD racks. I printed out the photo, brought it along with an inkpad to my uncle, and he made me what I use now. http://a-country-life.blogspot.com/2...raft-room.html
They were originally unfinished wood, but when I just moved into my new room, I wanted then white like the walls, so I spraypainted them all. I love them, and he made me enough so I have room to grow!

I have one and love it. It is full with my classic ink pads and now I want to get a second one for my neutrals, in colors and a few craft ink pads, versamark and stazon. I have no problem turning mine as needed. And I love that all of my re-inkers can be stored on top so they're there when I need them.

Ditto for me too... I have three with a variety of pads in them, including SU, Brilliance, Versafine, Andirondack, and Pallette. Love them!
I have 3 of them and I love them all. I use one for my classic ink pads, one for my craft ink pads, and one for my retired color and other misc. ink pads. They all turn with no problem and they fit nicely in my work space
I don't have the SU one, but I wouldn't want it, because it comes out to far. I use the foam core one I made for $4. If I fill it, I can make another one for another whopping $4. I love it!!
Wow - definitely more votes for YES! Now, after reading your comments, I'm concerned that I'll want two! I don't know that I have enough surface area available for more than one. Since there are no measurements in the catalog, I'll have to try positioning the ink pads as they are in the photo to see how large the "footprint" is. Thanks so much to all of you for your replies... time to measure and then see if anyone has one to trade for stamp sets!!
I have one and like it. I like how I can store most of my reinkers and stickles in the top part too. I don't really want a second one, but I am considering the extender.
It also encourages me to actually put my ink pads away after use, instead of just leaving them wherever.
I have two, one with the extender, and I love them. Unfortunately, I just don't have the desk space for them anymore, so I'm going to try to sell them. I'm going back to my old Fellowes cassette holder...it holds 108 pads, is skinnier than the SU one, and takes up much less room. (These aren't available anymore, so don't bother looking, lol!) It isn't nearly as classy looking, and doesn't have the holder at the top for reinkers, but c'est le vie...
Top of the right page... Here's why I LOOOOOVE mine:
- spins around
- recessed handle
- removable ink storage towers
- removable marker storage area
- snap on (top of organizer) reinker tray (removable)
- bag to carry it in
