I love the new set Branch Out. I think it could be very versatile. I ordered it this past week, but I am wondering why are there boots in the set? I get the tire swing, birdhouse, bird. But not the boots?? Am I missing something, somebody please clue me in. Thanks.

I had to look this up - it's a bit puzzling why the boots are there too. They look like gardening boots to me so it kind of fits the theme. Maybe rest the boots up against the tree?
haha...I LOVE this site!!! I was wondering the same thing! I mentioned this a week ago to my stamp club, and they all said, "the boots are to put under the tree." I was like, "well, that doesn't make sense!" They all seem to think it did though...go figure.
I immediately thought of gardening boots, but it would make more sense if they would also have a rake to lean agianst the tree. I see some fun fall trees with lovely leaves on the tree and on the ground. I doubt that I will ever use the tire.

i made a tire swing by using a jumbo eyelet.
maybe the boots are there because someone removed their boots. to climb the tree?
the boots are the first thing I thought would be fun to use, off set the swing without inking the ropes, instead some linen thread or hemp twine
imagine a lake off to the side swing just settling down from someone getting down from it to run into the lake with a small wake could use any stamp for the one who is swingin and swimmin
so the boots are left behind so they do not get wet

I love the rake idea...maybe they could have an 'add on' rake stamp that we could purchase. LOL!
I adore this new set but was puzzled by the boots. I came to the same conclusion as most of you... the boots were taken off so someone could go play. :-)
Maybe it's a regional thing, lol? It seems the most natural thing in the world to have boots there....spring showers, mud puddles in the fall, snow boots... (are you getting the visual of WETness here in the Northwest, lol?)

Putting this set in a lake setting is the first thing I though of when I saw the boots. I pictures a lake, tree, boots and a pile of clothes ;)
Okay, ds came up behind me and said 'it's a Jeep, not a truck, jeez Mom'. So it's a Jeep with a dog driving. Doesn't make anymore sense than him driving a truck does it?
I wondered about those boots too. I thought the best place to put them would be under the tree, but couldn't quite figure it out. A nest would go great with the other elements in this set.
Giggle. I too was thinking weather related images and boots for the seasons. Totally made sense to me. But then the dog driving the Jeep makes sense to me too. Dogs have such a boring time waiting for us to get home, waiting for us to make dinner, make a card, do the laundry. Of course they would love to go on vacation or steal the car to make a fast getta way and leave us behind, like we always do to them.
Can't tell I have 3 dogs can you??

I grew up on a farm and we have a pond there with trees all around. We would always take our boots off and put them under a tree right before we jumped into the pond. Now my kiddo and nieces and nephews do the same thing. IT brings back sweet memories to me
My husband said he thought the boots were to use with the snowflakes, not with the tree. Don't know if it would work but since they seem to be in the position of someone kicking their feet out a bit, I wonder if you could stamp a ton of leaves and make it look like someone was sitting on a branch in the tree but they are obscured by leaves, all but the boots?

branchin out
I loved the set when I saw it and it's first on my list from the new SU catalog! The tire swing was my favorite. I too did not get the boots...yes, a pile of leaves with the boots sticking out..how cute!
This is one of my favorite sets in this new catalog. I first fell in love with the tree and then the boots. Here's a card I made this morning with this set.
Have you ever read the book "The Giving Tree" The little boy in the story takes his shoes off to climb the tree. He leaves his shoes under the tree while he climbs and eats apples. I also like the idea of taking off the boots and going to swim in the pond

I ttotally get this idea, but the boots seem SO out of scale wth the tree.... i mean either it's a small tree, or those are Shaq's boots!
I just thought the boots were too big compared to the tree.

I started reading this thread and I thought.....ooooo that set isn't retired yet like I thought it was. I really want this stamp set! But then I saw the date on this thread UGH!
There are so many pretty cards in the gallery made with this stamp set. I wonder why the retired it so early. It must have been in the mini catalog.
One can only hope that it might appear in the new catalog
