Default Su Black ink staining stamps - HELP!!!

Hi there everyone,

Just hoping someone can help me with this! I am finding my SU black ink is staining my stamps and although I clean them well after each stamping session the next time I stamp there seems to be black ink coming through whatever ink I have next stamped it up with! (hope that makes sense!lol)

Is there a way to clean that ink off a bit better?

PLEASE HELPPPP!

hugs

Karen

Default staining

What are you cleaning your stamps with? If I use my SU scrubbin' pad and haven't cleaned it for a while or have been using a lot of black since I cleaned it, it doesn't clean my stamps well.

Also, after you clean your stamp, stamp a few times (w/out ink) on a scrap piece of paper until you don't see an image at all.

Hope that helps!

I use the yoyo yellow pad immediately after stamping with black. I read about it on SCS and had to try it. It has helped. It will ruin your yoyo yellow so you may want to buy one specifically for cleaning black ink from your stamps. Strange but true. Good luck.

Hi Donna,

I too have a stampin scrub thingy (not the same as SU but very similar) and use it all the time, I even rince it out thoroughly each time I use it so I start with a clean slate so to speak! But I will try what you said about stampin on a blank sheet of paper and see if that helps some!

Thanks for replying

Hugs

Karen

I learned one time on here that Yo Yo Yellow cleans stained rubber! I have an extra ink pad that I use only for cleaning (I have mine marked with a great big "C" so I won't use it to stamp with).

I was told at the very first SU party I ever went to, that the black ink does stain your stamps. It doesn't affect the image quality at all, it just doesn't look pretty. I have found that if you stamp on a scrap paper before you clean and you clean your stamp immediately after stamping, the staining is less. If you don't like the stains...don't ever use Stazon ink!!! Even with the "special cleaner" it still stains

I, unfortunately, am very anal when it comes to staining on my stamps, so I avoid using my black A LOT! I need to just get over it and realize that it doesn't RUIN the stamp, but for some reason it really bugs me!

And I've heard the Staz On is worse, so I've never used it.

When my stamps start looking black I use JudiKins fabric and permanent ink cleaner. Takes off everything.

Joy,
Where do you get the Judikins cleaner? Sounds like I need to try it.

I don't have any problems with Staz-on since getting the staz-on cleaner. I have the worst time with Basic Black. I can get "most" of it out with the staz-on cleaner but not all. Now that I am a demo I guess I will have to get over it. I know that I will not be able to clean off each stamp right away and will have to deal with some stained stamps.

Karen, you might want to try a little dish soap on your scrubber. Warm water, a little squirt of soap, and rub-a-dub-dub! If you just rinse the pad, you don't get all the gunk out. Some people even put the pads into the dishwasher (no heated dry cycle though).

If I'm feeling compulsive I use Stazon cleaner to clean off black ink after stamping, then rub the stamp on my extra YoYo Yellow pad and let it sit a few minutes, then stamp off and finally, clean the stamp as usual with the Stampin Scrub & mist.

But our stamps are art tools & it's OK for them to look used!

That's my philosophy. I really don't care if mine get stained, it means at least I'm using them!! My demo sells her sets half off when they retire, I buy some of hers and they are usually very stained from her workshops. But they still stamp great.
