Question Storing Bare Naked Rubber

Years ago, before it was the "in" thing to do, I painstakingly unmounted all of my rubber stamps....clear down to the bare rubber. I have NEVER looked back. I LOVE it! However....

the only challenge for me is how to store the hundreds and hundreds of stamps I have. I've tried everything, and believe me when I say that. Three ring binders with double stick tape, TIO&O, cd cases, Ziploc bags, mounting boards.

I guess what I'm looking for here is something I have not already thought of. Right now I have them on heavy plastic storage panels, and they are stuck there using 3M poster tabs. The tab is left sticking on the storage panel when I remove the stamp, i.e. the tab does not stick to my stamp permanently, but rather to the storage panel. The only problem I am having, which is why I'm posting here, is that the poster tabs are like a foam material with the adhesive on both sides. Eventually the adhesive wants to peel off of the foam carrier, which is what is happening a lot now with the stamps I use a lot. It's not a huge deal I suppose. I just replace the tab.

I would go back to coating each stamp with the TIO&O, but the problem I had with that was that over time, the TIO&O would start pulling off of the rubber stamp and start sticking to the storage panel. That made a real mess, and it took forever to get it off of hundreds of stamps. Plus I love being able to throw the stamp in soapy water to clean when I'm finished stamping. With the TIO&O, you really can't do that (can you?).

Any "out of the ordinary" storage solutions out there? Would LOVE to try something new and different. I do like the totally bare rubber though, so anything like EZ Mount would not be for me.

THANKS!!!

Sandy

Have you thought of using something like Tack n' Peel? It is designed to adhere to the acrylic block to hold unmounted stamps in place for stamping, so theoretically it could also be used on storage panels to hold them in place when not in use.

Just a head's up about the Tack n Peel....it discolors easily and looks 'tacky', IMHO. What you might try is putting the poster tape on your block instead of the rubber. I do that with many of my stamps. I first started putting the EZMount on all of them, but can you imagine how long that would take (I've been stamping for over 20 years!). So, finally just went with the bare rubber (stored in CD cases) and use the poster tape on my block. It removes clean when you need it to. HTH

Could you tell me exactly what type of poster tape you're talking about? I too have been stamping for over 20 years, and just recently took all of my stamps off of the woodblocks (it took forever!) I have been using TiOaO, but I too have had occasional trouble with it coming off. Right now my stamps are in big binders, which I like more than the CD cases, but I am open to something better! Occasionally, when I don't have time to wait for the TiOaO to dry with a new stamp, I use Stick and Spray, by Crafter's Companion. It works fine for a temporary hold!
God Bless,

TIO&O is not affected by soapy water...long as it isn't hot water, and you don't scrub it. Same is true of Scotch Poster Tape. To my knowledge, all of the repositionable glues and tapes (and the Cricut pads) are water resistant. Allow the tape or glue to dry before storing the stamps on the carrier sheet.

If TIO&O is sticking to the carrier sheet, rather than to the back of the stamp, chance are the layer of TIO&O was too thick...a thin layer does the job (allow to dry completely before place the stamp on the carrier sheet).
