The Naturals White on p. 156 is a thicker card stock, like the regular colored card stock we carry. It isn't "pure" white, though. The Shimmery White is about the same thickness of the regular Whisper White on page 145.

I got a pack of white and cream 110 lb. 100 sheets Recollections Brand at Michaels. It is regular priced at 12.99. I used a 50% off coupon to try it out. Very nice paper for card bases. I was pleasantly surprised. I usually by Papertrey Ink, but needed to do a lot of give away cards for a nursing home. I tried it...I love it. Will definitely be buying more of it. ;=)

I was going to suggest the Recollections as well. Its definitely thicker than Stampin Up. I haven't tried PTI or Gina K so I can't compare, but a few others have said it is comparable.
I love Stampin' Up's Whisper White card stock for stamping on but not for card bases. It's coated so it's nicer to stamp on than any other card stock I've tried but it isn't as thick.
I use the Neenah Classic Crest Solar White in 110 pound weight for white card bases. If you truly want a heavy card base, that should be your choice. Georgia Pacific, Recollections, PTI...they don't hold a candle to it.
BUT...Gina K is the same...buy her white cardstock in the heavy base weight and you'll have a THICK card base. Ahd Gina's service is stellar!
My two cents, but those are truly the only two HEAVY, THICK card bases.

The new 110lb Recollections cardstock at Michaels is almost identical to the Gina K Base weight (I have both, so I can say this with some authority )
I have some other white Recollections brand, though, that I bought in one of the smaller assortments, and it definitely doesn't compare. So I'm thinking that anyone who bought this a while back would not be happy with it as a card base. What you need to look for at Michaels is: Recollections 110 lb cardstock in either white or ivory, in the pack of 100 sheets for $12.99. I can't speak for how it compares to the Neenah, but Gina K makes heaviest and sturdiest card bases I've ever seen, and the Recollections 110lb is pretty darn close. And I'm picky, because I tend to use layers and embellishments, and when I tried the Georgia Pacific for card bases (from recommendations here at Splitcoast), I was not a happy camper.

I love Cougar by Domtar - I have 200# that I use to make boxes with. Cougar card stock is another one I would recommend if you want nice heavy weight - especially for single layer cards.
I almost forgot about this one, but was going through some of the odds and ends I have and Hammermill Digital Colour copy is another one. The 100# is excellent for card bases and colours beautifully with copics.

I wanted a sturdier base for my white cards and Gina K's is wonderful. I use SU but for a solid base their whisper white just doesn't cut it, ha no pun intended.
Is Recollections, Gina K, or Stampin' Up! cardstock "Copic" friendly?

I tried to do some testing on the 110# Recollections with copics and it didn't turn out all that great, but I wasn't really colouring, just trying to blend some patches. I may have to try again and put a little more effort into my test. It does work very nice with pencil crayons & oms though. I know that SU Whisper white won't work with copics and you'll end up ruining the nibs from the coating on the paper. I haven't even thought to try using the basic white SU cardstock since I have so many others that work great with copics. I haven't tried Gina K, but there are rave reviews on here from people who use it with copics.
Last year DH gave me a $50 Gina K gift card and I used most of it on the heavyweight white CS. It is fabulous- Everything else I've tried in white CS takes a back seat to Gina K. Not only is it sturdy, but it feels so nice to the touch, smooth and perfect. My vote goes to Gina K. (Only wish DH would cough up another gift card, LOL!)
