Default Stampin up Expressions die Sandwich

I am trying to cut out the Merry from the expressions die set. I am using the silver glimmer paper. I am having a hard time getting it to cut through in all spots. I am using wax paper and a dryer sheet. This is what I used. Any other ideas?

Did you peel the back off the paper? If not give that a try.

I would recommend using the special wafer die cut plate that Big shot has. It has a semi soft/hard surface that is magic with the intricate dies.
I apologize for not knowing the exact name of this cutting plate, I am new to the Big Shot and bought every plate they had, with the thought that I would eventually find it useful. Maybe an experienced Big Shot user will pop in with the name of this this specialty plate.

Shimming will work in a pinch, but what I have found is that you will get weird press lines on the die resulting die cut that, like little warts where the poke-holes are...the drive me crazy! Had this happen with the Rose Wonder dies.

Hope you find something that works, without all the fiddling. Good luck!

You might also try putting the back side of the paper against the cutting blade. Sometimes that helps get a cleaner cut. All I've ever used with these thinlets is wax paper and a regular sandwich of magnetic platform and cutting pads. Precision base is the name of the platform Susy is talking about, and that can also help.

The thing that has always, always bugged me about die cutting machines, really from all manufacturers, is that they all have a variance in either pressure applied or height between the base and the top where they roll through. A sandwich that is a "never fail" in my Big Shot might not work well on somebody else's. Very frustrating.

What are you using the dryer sheet for? Try leaving it out of the sandwich ...they don't cut well. If you are using it to take all the bits and pieces out of your die cut try doing that step separately. The glimmer paper is just a little thicker than normal. Hope this helps.

Another suggestion: Try placing the die and paper on one of the outer edges of your plates (either left or right). You could also try running the die through in a vertical or diagonal position on your plates.

I know I read somewhere that we weren't supposed to cut out the glimmer paper with framelits....I can say I've done it and done it often, never had a problem. I've also used it with punches with no problems. But I do agree, taking off the backing of the glimmer paper helps if you are having problems. I think some framelits are better at cutting than others.
