Default Which Stamp Set is Your Staple?

I've just started stamping and I am completely hooked! I love it!

I am looking at buying a few stamp sets from SU and I'm wondering if there is a versitile set that you absolutely couldn't live without?
Which is your most used set and which is one is the least used/if at all??

Thanks!

I love the sayings in Mini Mates and Tiny Talk. I also think Lovely as Tree is super versatile. Wonderful Words I or II can make anything look elegant. Of course you need a good floral like Bodacious or Mixed Bouquet, or Roses in Winter if that's more your style.

I don't make a lot of kids cards so that's my mindset with my recommendations:

I constantly find myself grabbing for:

Heartfelt Thanks
French Script background
Print Pattern background
Sincere Salutations
Tags and More

These are the sets I tend to grab. I love florals and Heartfelt Thanks looks so good in combo with those backgrounds.

Tags and More is my more "cute" set that I use alot. Alot of my customers uses that set to do a lot of scrapbook borders and I use it on bag toppers, etc alot.

Hope that helps!

I would say Sincere Salutations or Warmest Regards (current Level 1 hostess set). Words are my favorite, though, because I have tons of image stamps. Aside from that, I would have to know what you like to make - cards, scrapbook pages, gifts, etc. - to give a good recommendation.

I try to do lots of scrapbooking, but I'm also just getting started with the cards too.

I like the cutsy stuff - my kids are all small, so we're doing baby pages, birthday invitations, Christmas cards, etc.

I have a list that is 4 PAGES long!! hehe

Now to narrow it down...

Probably Wonderful Words and Paisley Background. Everything else is pretty random, just me trying to use all of my stamp sets at least once (gotta justify buying them, right? )

I use the print background stamp quite a bit along with the fresh fillers and itty bitty background stamps.

Hmmmm...the more you stamp the more you want! Anyways...i LOVe the petal Prints stamp set. Get yourself a good Word set that covers a variety of occasions. i love small script for that but it is no longer available. you may end up cursing me for this 9 this is a very addictive hobby)...but spend some time each day, going through the gallery additions and seeing what kind of a style you like and what would suit your current needs.

I think Little Pieces is very versatile. It can be used to make backgrounds on half the card with the other half a piece of coordinating cardstock. It can also be used to make a row of images. When paired with a set of sentiments, you could do lots of stuff. See the gallery for Little Pieces.

For cards you NEED a couple of background stamps. I love Linen and Canvas, but you probably only want one or the other to start because they are similar. Print Pattern is also an excellent background.

I love Touch of Nature. It's not cutesy, but could be masculine or feminine. I love the cutesy stuff too. I can't think of a set right now, though. I don't have kids, I'm just a kid at heart. Good luck narrowing down your list!

Oh, I use Itty Bitty Backgrounds on 90% of my cards! As for a 'real' set that we use with images.... right now, I'd say Roses In Winter is an easy one for me to use. They make such pretty images so easily without much effort or time involved although I love to color.

If you have a young family & want to scrap on that theme I highly recommend I'm Here (the hands & feet set) because it's cute without being dated and it can be used for a wide variety of kid related things (i'e baby, toddler younger kids etc...). Another really cute & versatile set that I find myself using a lot is Unfrogettable... I've used it for get well cards, thinking of you cards, birthday cards, scrapbooking, and even graduation cards!

By all means follow Wendy's advice on the Itty Bitty Backgrounds, I can't believe I got to post 22 before seeing that set mentioned. A quick finish will add so much to a card.
A suggestion: any set of flowers that is a solid rubber image (no coloring in after stamping). They are great for a quick card and the rock and roll technique makes it even better.
Lovely as a Tree is an all time favorite of mine for masculine, Christmas and adding to a scenery.

Sincere Salutations is my staple, the most used set I have has to be Terrific Tulips. I just love it! Then my least used sets are a few that I bought off of Ebay and never used once. I have some Japanese sets that I bought and HAD to have that I rarely use.

Thanks for making me feel guilty. LOL!

And I agree about Itty Bitty Backgrounds--I use that on at least half fo my cards!

I agree that Sincere Salutations is a great all occasion word set. I seem to always reach for Tag Time! It has a little of everything so you can create cards, scrapbook pages, tags, etc. And the set has stamps that are formal, cutesy, kid-friendly, etc. Sure was hard to pick a fav though!

If you are just starting out, I'd get Tags and more, Happy everything and a background stamp (Linen is always great) or itty bitty backgrounds.

One of the sets I have and barely use is Greetings Galore. But now that I think about it, it is really not a bad set to start out with and would be good for scrapbooking too.

I'm fairly new to stamping too and was hooked instantly. So far I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the stuff I've seen with Lovely as A Tree and In Full Bloom. I have just begun experimenting more with these the last 2 days!! Last Sat. I ordered Itty Bitty Backgrounds and for a full size BG - Print pattern rocks!

Welcome to SCS by the way.........you will love it here!! Best of luck with your wish list too!! Things you never thought you'd like.....you'll change your mind when you see something here made with the set..........it's happened to me a few times already!!

My wish list is fairly long yet, but I'm slowly tring to fulfill my every wish......one or two stamp sets at a time!!

Welcome to SCS! I would say one of the sets I can't live without is Happy Everything. It covers just about every occasioin, and wasn't a really expensive set like a lot of the word sets. I absolutely love this set. When I got started in stamping I made the mistake of getting no word sets, which is hard to make a card without;). I think as far as image stamp sets it's all a matter of opinion on what style images you like the most. I agree with an above poster that said check out the gallery and just look at different sets and see how others used them to see if you like them. I have gotten many stamp sets in the past before looking in the gallery to see if it was versatile or not, and a lot of the sets I got weren't versatile at all, and I really regreted buying them. Sorry I didn't mean to ramble. lol HTH

I love Lovely as a Tree, Linen BG, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, and Sincere Salutations. I plan to order Happy Everything because it has a little bit of everything (no pun intended) and is small. Check out all recommendations in the gallery to decide what you like. Welcome to SCS and happy stamping!
