Default Stamp Ideas

I was noticing that there are no Native American type sets. How do you get suggestions to the 'Stamp Gods'? Maybe a dreamcatcher, a feather, a star configuration, maybe a Native toddler etc. Would that not be a good idea?

Hi,

In September, a couple of months after I became a demonstrator, I received a questionnaire from SU! and in it, there was a question asking if I had other thoughts and ideas I'd like to share? In my response, I mentioned that demonstrators should be involved when making decisions about future stamp sets . . . even if we just answer questions about the types of sets we are interested in. This was actually brought up by my DH because he thought up a bunch of sets or types of stamps he'd like to see and we made a list, including:

- Veterans or the people in the Services – Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines and even cops, fire fighters, nurses, etc. He thought that one set could contain all of them and also the American Flag.
- Maybe there can be an add on to the Sporting Goods stamp set that could include a Tennis Ball, Tennis Racket, Boxing Gloves and possibly other types of sports equipment that may be missing.
- Fishing (not only fly fishing) and boating (canoes, pontoon, inflatable).
- For teenagers / young adults – remote control items like Mini-Z Remote Control Cars, RC Planes, Electric Trains, Boats, Monster Trucks, Video Games, Computers, Sports Cars (not only convertibles).
- Sci-Fi (along the lines of Star Wars, Star Trek, Aliens, etc.)
- Amusement Park Rides – more along the lines of adult rides, since there is already a set geared toward children. We already have the Carnival jumbo wheel, but that just isn’t enough for coaster lovers !!! Something that features a wooden style coaster and one of the newer style steel coasters, a power tower, a haunted house and of course a jumbo ferris wheel.

I know it's a lot to ask, but I couldn't help myself once we started listing everything !!! Hopefully something will make the cut !!!

Let us know if you get a response and I'll send another e-mail (I would love to give my opinion on future sets and I'm sure many other demonstrators would too since we know what our customers like) !!!

Thanks,
Myra

There have been such sets in the past...I remember some beautiful pots...desert scenes, there was a set called "Southwest" a few catalogs back...also "Ancient Art" with lots of familiar native symbols..kokapelli, the bear, the lizard, etc. The pot was "Zuni Pottery."

I guess styles come and go. Definitely write SU about it! I'd love to see some of these come back, or have them come up with new ones. I love that genre of stamps!

Hugs,
Betsy

There used to be a Native American set with a dreamcatcher and everything, but it's retired.

I remember my upline making a card using a dreamcatcher. She added a feather as an embelishment. It seems like there was an Indian with a headdress on too.

Now that SU! has 'migrated' to Canada, I'd sure like to see more Canadiana sets, even if it's just an insert for Canadians. I was disappointed to see them discontinue the one Canadian stamp set they had in last year's catalog.

yeah..I have the dreamcatcher set that retired last year...bummer it retired...I have used it to make alot of cards...especially for fathers day. It's a very nice set to have. It has a Plains Indian with headdress, a handprint, dreamcatcher, decorative background stamp, native american on a horse. It is very tastefully done.

Maybe they will come out with a Native American type set in one of the mini catalogs this year.

demonstrators can submit ideas for stamp sets on the Stampin Up website.

I agree with the above suggestions for stamps...plus I would like to see a Mystery stamp set (magnifying glass, footprints, question mark, clue word stamp, Sherlock Holmes type stuff)

The ideas just need to be submitted and popular.

The actual name is Dreamcatcher. It retired last year.

I would think SU would want that and other feedback from their demo's. I know Mary has so many great ideas...they would gain a lot talking to her...she also listens to ours too.
