Sue's Market Saturation post prompted me to start this thread.
I'd love to learn about some of the smaller stamp companies that have created their own STYLE. Unfortunately, searching for stamp companies is not easy. Type "stamp" into a search engine and there are a bazillion images, many having nothing to do with craft stamping.
To make things worse, places like Pinterest cause the same image to come up over and over and over again ... and following the link to Pinterest rarely leads to a link where a stamp can be purchased. Usually, when I click on a photo, I get a blog with dozens of posts that I need to scan through only to find that the photo I'm looking for is no longer on that page or it doesn't have any information about the stamp company.
So, I'm hoping that other stampers can start posting their small stamp company finds in this thread. As I mentioned earlier, I'm especially looking for companies that are boldly creating their own style or trend and are running with it.
I'll start. This company has been around awhile, but its stamps are nothing like we'd find hanging on a rack in JoAnn's or in a Stampin Up or Close to My Heart catalog: Bombshell Stamps Bombshell Stamps- Vintage Rubber Stamps With Attitude!
Purple Onion Designs, there are several different designers. I particularly love the Stacey Yacula stamps but have some other ones too. And there's currently a sale ;-). purpleoniondesigns
Style is so subjective.
Could you give me an idea of what you like in terms of type? Like would you like highly detailed or simple outlines?
Actually, I'm not necessarily looking for something that I like or dislike. I'm hoping to compile a list of companies who have an artist or a team of artists who come up with their own theme or style--as opposed to creating a redo of something another company was successful with.
I'm a little more forgiving of holiday stamps, so let me use those as an example of what I see happening in the stamp industry--especially with the big name companies:
Stampin Up's "Wandering Words" santa & reindeer stamp is almost identical to A-Muse's "Santa's Flight" stamp. Close to my Heart put out it's own "Santa's Flight" set. It's not my favorite, but at least it's a little different than the two above. Now, Stampin Up's newest release will include the "Cozy Christmas" set, which has a flying sleigh image that is sadly similar to its previous version.
I'm not at all artistic and know nothing about art or music. Yet, I could recognize a painting done in the style of Kinkade, Picaso or Van Gogh. It's the same for musicians and singers. Those who created a sound that is all their own get noticed. The others may have talent, but are nothing but cookie-cutter copies of other artists who are lucky if they get a short 15-minutes of fame. I'm hoping other stampers who find those companies creating their own style will share them with us here.
I think there are a LOT of companies that fit this but I also get what you are saying. Some of PB's flowers look a lot like the old PSX ones to me.
Here's a few I think have a very distinctive style I would recognize immediately or unique stuff.
100 proof press
San Franscisco
Stamping Bella
Mo Manning
Outlines-out of business but you can find them on ebay
stampscapes
SCADD has a bunch of artists in house
Northwoods
Kraftin Kimmie
Levenworth Jackson
Unity Stamps-Phyllis Harris artist
Lawn Fawn
Deep Red
Totally agree about 100 Proof Press, and Lost Coast Stamps also has some unique designs. I also love the artists on Etsy who hand-carve stamps — these are a few of my favorites:
Oh my!
My jaw fell open when I saw that the last link had stamps of people and animals created from portraits. I could never justify the cost but I certainly understand why they are so expensive. The artist is very talented.
About a month ago, I ran across this post by Christina K (don't ask me to spell her last name!); she was on PTI's design team for a while and I love her style.
I loved the Mother's Day card; when I read that she had pared down her stash, but kept the sets she loved most, I was intrigued by the set she had used: Fresh Cut Florals by WPlus9. I checked it out and fell totally in love with this set and 2 of its companion sets: More Fresh Cuts and Fresh Cut Containers.
So my pick for a small company with its own style is WPlus9. For a fantastic "watercolor" technique, check out some of their videos on YouTube.

This is one of my all-time favorite companies. B Line Designs
I think I'm sorry I started this thread.
I am going to have to mortgage everything I own and take out a loan.
I am IN LOVE with these stamps! I'll be spending the weekend going through and adding my favorites to my Craft Wish Book.
Lawn Fawn, WPlus9, Paper Smooches, Papertrey Ink, Mama Elephant Stamps are some of my favorites. I think each has a very distinctive style on their own.
So many of my favorites have already been mentioned (WPlus9, Mama Elephant, Lawn Fawn, PTI, Riley & Co. -- especially the funny ones), but here are a few more:
I love, love, love Waltzingmouse Stamps. I think Claire is an amazing artist and brings her own flair to common and not-so-common themes. Sift through them, the style varies greatly.
