and yesterday was one of those days! First I cut my paper to short for a card. Then on another card, I put the paper on upside down. And then on a third card, I put the image on upside down!
I should have quit after the first mistake! But I am a slow learner
Been there, done that too! There have been days I have cut layers wrong two or three times wrong for the same card and I keep going on cause I want that card done!

Anyone can make a mistake. Only dedicated stampers keep making the same mistakes over and over and STILL won't give up! At least that's what I try to tell myself, anyway.
Been there, done that, and I'm sure to do it again.
When have days like that, I play with techniques so I have the expectation that I will mess up because for me it's rare that a new technique will work perfectly the first time
I think we can all relate. The funniest one I remember reading was the gal that made a very elaborate, many layered and embellished wedding card. It turned out beautifully.
She was ready to put it in the mail, and when she signed it, she spelled her own name WRONG!

Every card I send out has a mistake somewhere...I like to think it's my trademark.
And guess what...99% of the people who receive these cards never even notice. They are just happy to get something in the mail that doesn't have a bill attached.
I've never spelled my name wrong however...I went to a CPR class once and when we showed up everybody we had to sign in on the official Red Cross papers. I took the class, passed the test and when my card came in the mail it had my maiden name on it.
I guess I was having a brain fart that day because by this point I had been married 25 years and it cost me 5 dollars to have it reissued.

Hilarious!!
I had two kids do that in art class last week. They both forget a letter of their own names, they were concentrating so hard on writing it "pretty." But, you know, they're in fourth grade...

After the 3rd mistake on same card, I walk away. I just stay away from my craft desk for 24 hours, then try again. If I make yet another mistake, time for new project.
My eyes seem to be crooked too! LOL. One important thing ive learned when trying a new technique or special fold, ALWAYS use scrap paper for the first try! I can never get it right the first time.
I call those kind Serendipity cards. Some of my nicest designs happened when I was trying to cover a mistake and had to either re-work the card, add something on top,or hide it in some way. Worst case scenario would be to save all your mistakes until you had a bunch, cut them into a bunch of one inch squares and make a mosaic. I'd written a blog post about it a few years ago called "Mistakes"
Oh yes, I can definitely relate to this! I think I have learned to walk away when I start making boo-boos and come back to my desk later because it does, as you described, just seem to snowball. The one thing I do alot is stamp the sentiment on the inside of my card crooked or upside down. Last Easter, I made a circle stepper card for my daughter. Now, I am not very good at doing a card that isn't your standard fold-in-half type of card and I can tell you that I despite following the step-by-step instructions, I think I made 5 card bases before I got the silly thing right. Soooo frustrating!
What's a circle stepper card? I love new types of cards!
If you click HERE, you can see the card in My Gallery. And you can see my blog post about it HERE. In this blog post I have included a link to a tutorial which I followed to make the card which is at the end of the 2nd paragraph. There is a tutorial on SCS which was done by Beate but I did mine a little differently to Beate's because she only has one fold at the RHS but I have two.
The main thing I would suggest is that you do the base and designer paper separately because if you stick them together and THEN try to do the folds, the designer paper doesn't fold cleanly and is all wrinkly (I had the bright idea to do a whole bunch of them with different cardstocks/papers at the same time and stuck the paper down onto the cardstock and THEN discovered that it doesn't work that way!! NOT the great time-saver I was hoping for LOL!!) Hope this helps!
