Default Sizzix Paddle Punch

Some recently gave me some old sizzix paddle punches...they are very cute, but I have no idea how to use them...

Anyone know??

Thanks!

I think you need a hammer - I don't know if it's a "special" hammer or if a regular household one would work?

HoosierMama has it right - when the paddle punches were released, they came with a special handle/paddle. I don't have one but I have a friend who does. If I remember correctly, the main "sell" on them was that they could be placed anywhere on a page.

Julie is correct in the main sell of them was you can punch any where on the page/card. Sizzix sold a hammer to use with the paddle punches. Basically you lay the punch flat side down. With the hammer you tap it until it cuts thru the paper. Remember to punch on a self healing mat or catalog. The sizzix hammer had hard plastic on the ends. The package had said a regular hammer couldn't be used. I don't know if anyone has used one or not. Currently the sizzix ebay store is selling the kit which includes the hammer. It will give you an idea what it looks like.

I had to have the paddle punches and bought them on clearence at Sizzix - At the time, I couldn't find the hammer anywhere and went to Harbor Freight and purchased a hammer with a hard rubber end - believe it was a yellow one. I hate to admit that those punches aren't used very often but I have been careful with the hammer I used and haven't had a problem. The self healing mat didn't work for me - it left deep scars. The mat sold with the paddle punches had the same surface used with eyelet mats - KWIM?? You may turn your self healing mat around and see if the smooth surface will work. Practice using the punches on scratch paper first - the technique of holding the punch was a little different if I remembered right and that way you don't ruin your project. Good luck!!

I had a whole set of these, every image plus the nice carry case and all the goodies..I hated them. Sometimes have to pund them so many times. Cant use when anyone is sleeping or watching TV even in another room. There are so many easier options now for die cuts... I sold the whole shot about a year ago on Ebay.
Just my experience.
Blessings.
