I remember making envelopes in my early days of cardmaking using these simple patterns. This is a good reminder for me since the size is custom to the card. What about you?https://youtu.be/cbT3GQ0oudw
I make almost all of my envelopes using DP that I wouldn't use normally. If it gets hand delivered the pattern goes on the outside..if it gets mailed the pattern goes on the inside. Great way to get rid of the very large paper stash I seem to have collected! LOL
My German girlfriends in college saw nearly every aspect of everyday life as a crafting opportunity. I used to get letters in envelopes made from the perfect, dramatic magazine photo as just an everyday thing. No tools require but an eye for style, a thumbnail for folding and a glue stick. I have tried to carry on this tradition, because it’s just so fun.
I do like to make handmade envelopes. I did buy the WRMemory keepers envelope punchboard. I use it occasionally, but what I use most often is the plastic templates from Green Sneakers. I don't know if they are still in business, but I bought them at a garage sale years ago for very little and I love them. I use old calendars, scrapbook paper, monoprinted paper...you name it. If it is a dark or busy, I use an address label on the front to write the address.
During Covid, shopping at Trader Joe's, I have accumulated so many paper bags (the good heavy brown paper perfect for envelopes). I couldn't resist making my own envelopes, I love the feel of these envelopes, and the look. What fun to make them with Stampin' Ups retired envelope maker.
Ditto for me on using the WRMK envelope punch board. Love being able to co-ordinate an envelope with the card and as Kristy said, it is a great way to use up single sided designer paper!
