Default Sentiments and Greetings

Ok everyone, I need your help. Just started card making 2 years ago and I have a question about sentiments and greetings. I see all these wonderful cards with great greetings and sentiments. I can't afford to buy every stamp that is used nor do I have room to store all of them. Can you tell me what you do for greetings and sentiments on both the outside and inside of your cards. If you use computer generated sentiments and greetings how do you avoid wasting paper? Any help would be appreciated.

I actually leave the insides of most of my cards blank, allowing me to write a longer note. A2 cards aren't that big on the inside to begin with, so I think it's nicer this way.

Sentiment sets for the outside will depend on your preference- do you like flourished fonts, simple, bold, etc? Punny & witty sayings? More serious sentiments?

I like all types of sentiments. I leave alot of cards blank inside if I am giving them to someone so that I can write also. I have a few people that have asked me to make cards for them to give to someone. I wondered what people did for the insides of those.

I don't usually use sentiments on the inside and if I do, they are small and off to the side more as decoration. You can always print a sentiment off the computer

I put sentiments on the inside 95% of the time. some I leave blank. I have thousands of stamps to choose from but I have been collecting them for over 8 years now.
blessings.

I make a lot of computer generated sentiments, and I have set up a special size of paper on my printer - a quarter sheet, 4.25"x5.5". I mostly use Word and a little PowerPoint, and just select that page size in Page Setup when I am starting the document. It works pretty well - just adjust the paper guide on the printer to fit the quarter sheet. I tend to print the front sentiment at the top of the page and the inside sentiment centered and down on the page, then I trim it up with my paper cutter after printing.

If I want different background colors, I sometimes sponge the front sentiment piece after I print it and punch it out, although you might need to heat set your ink so it does not smear. Test this on a scrap piece before you ruin a card.

I run Word for Mac and have an ancient HP 6210, so this is what works for me - YMMV

In Word, go to File>Page Setup Click on Paper Size and select Manage Custom Sizes. HHit the + button to create a new size, double click on the name ("Untitled") to rename it and fill in the dimensions you want. Then just select this paper size in Page Setup every time you want to print it. You may need to adjust the margins each time you select this size - I have not figured out how to change the defaults.
