When I first started out making cards, I bought a lot of stencils for tags and shapes. I have use the tag stencil one time. I also bought tons of the scissors that makes designs when you use them. I never used them.
I am sure there are more tools that I wish I hadn't bought.
Back in the day !! the stencils for tags etc. and the fancy scissors were all we had, no die cutting machine like now (I have been stamping for 22 years). Still use the scissors for a few things. I got a glass cutting mat, sure I really needed it, and have used it only once or twice. I had a circle cutter that was not working well (and never did) so got the glass mat for that. Have given that circle cutter away, still have that glass mat in its box.
Lol at all of these! I bought loads of the scissors, now I have a cutter with fancy edge blades- gave all the scissors to my DIL for the grandkids. The glass cutting mat- yeah, I NEEDED one to, so much I actually 'lost' it in my room, and forgot about it till I unburied it! Crafters Companion tool- someone gave me one- they bought two (?), that went to my DIl as well. My main madness was decoupage sheets when I first started card making,(About 15 years ago now). Boy, did I buy a LOT! When did I last make a decoupage card? Can't remember for the life of me. Something else the DIL inherited. I'm glad I have her, lol.
Oh, I have two - the Fastenator that I HAD to have and have maybe used once, and the tag thing from We R Memory Keepers - you would cut the insert and then put it in this little metal frame and use the tool to crimp the frame. Had to have it, never used it, and I won't even give it away because I can't even imagine anyone wanting it.
(Now I wait a few months when something new comes out. The initial reviews of things like these are always over-the-top awesome, but I wait to see if anyone is still using them in 6 months or so. It's saved me a bit of $$.)
I don't know why I had to have the Distrezz-It-All but I bought it and I think its useless. I can do the distressing with my handheld tool just as good. I have only used it like twice. I won't even get into the 7 die cutting machines I have
Oh yea, so many decorative edge scissors - most I have NEVER used and a few I have used a few times. I think I've had these for about 10 years. So WHY OH WHY can't I part with them??? Separation anxiety???

Eyelets!!! I have lots of those things.. and can't imagine ever using them all up.
Also, I regret buying every single Stampin' UP! Dye and Craft ink pad. I only use a few colors and might occasionally grab another.. but all the craft pads sit in the boxes.

I don't really have any that I regret buying, but I sure have a truckload that I regret not using. I'm hoping to get around to at least some of them this year...
I'm glad I don't have any big purchases I regret. There are some stamps I bought early on, before I had figured out my style, but I really just have too many supplies I don't use often enough.

No blog for me. My gallery chronicles my card-making successes and mishaps.
Crop-o-Dile Big Bite was a gift from DD. After several years I still have to look at instructions to use it, and they are difficult to understand, so I don't use it.
Also, several of the Spellbinders Labels sets. maybe they just don't fit my current style.
Well, those fancy scissors were well worth there price at the time when there were no DIES if I may say so. Us old timers did use them for cards, pictures and for the kids, crafts and more.
Matter fact I was living in Spain at the time and could not find them on Base, so I ended up ordering them out of the Child Development Centers Catalog were they got their supplies from. Think I ended up paying a ton in shipping for all the craft supplies I ordered through that catty.

The Cricut. Oh, I was so happy when I found one on sale (quite a bit at the time). Then several cartridges, but I could never figure out how to use the darned Cricut; no matter what I did, it either gouged the paper or didn't cut it enough. It has sat in a box for at least 3 years.
I feel your pain, Cricut people . It is my biggest regret too - the machine, the cartridges, the Gypsy and the money spent on classes trying to work out how to get it to do what I want it to do!
Punches -- so many punches! Plus things that go with punches like a storage unit, corner thing and a border thing. I have maybe 10 punches I use all the time and the rest just sit but it seems like a huge waste to toss them.

I don't really regret a lot of my purchases except for all the SU inks I bought. I rarely ever use them and they were too expensive for what they are. I bought all those decorative scissors and I use mine. I love decorative edges and they're easier to store than all those punches (which I have too many of too).
I have those scissors. My sister gave them to me. I used them a few times and now they're dull....and I only just started making cards. Made 8 cards so far.....waiting for cuttlebug to arrive
I've tried 2 of those scissors over the years and they're so cheaply made that they gave me fits. Tossed both of them.
A few border punches-I'm not good at lining them up and the SU scallop one quit cutting all the scallops. I have exactly 4 border punches and that's plenty. Prefer border dies, especially the thin type.
I've refused to get any electronic cutting machine-especially a Cricut. Too expensive for the machine and whatever else like cartridges and mats, they take up space and I don't want to bother with the learning curve and wasted paper.
So funny reading everyone's responses. I see a lot of them that I really LOVE and actually use. I LOVE my Cricut (now that we have Craft Room which helps me SEE what I am cutting). I love using the Memory Maker Tag maker. eyelets.
I bought the WishBlade a million years ago (before the Cricut came out). I haven't used it in years, but broke it out the other day so I could try a cut using that program (can't remember the name) that Provocraft won't let us use with Cricut now. I powered it up, then found out it doesn't work, you can't update the program, no one supports it anymore, so it's worthless..... what a waste. (and it's my own darn fault).

Try cutting aluminum foil with them to sharpen them.

biggest shopping regrets
I would have to say my all time worst regret was being at CHA in 2005 and buying an Ellison Prestige Pro die cut machine. It was a huge huge investment and fast forward to a few years later I discovered how much better the Accucut Grande Mark and Mar Iv were, switched to that and never ever looked back oh but the $$ I wasted learning the difference.
Zyron- never have used one but just last night I was reorganizing in a spare bedroom . It has a long long cupboard on the wall and I have some craft stuff stored in it and above the cabinet. I spied a box sticking back against the wall above the cupboard pulled it down and a zyron I purchased 10 years ago. Still had receipt inside, Never used. I will now, boy am I slow.
A cute use for decorative scissors is to use a piece of nice resume type paper for the inside of your card and trim a nice outer edge with a pair of decorative scissors. The resume or parchment type paper is great for this plus it stamps well for the inside sentiments of a card! Great to use with dark card-stock based cards.
I regret buying the xyron sticker maker. I used it twice. Still in the box. Smh.
I got the small one with a couple of refills and hadn't really used it much until this year's Valentine cards. I had a border with cut-out hearts, and it worked so great to attach it to my cards. I could never have used my glue pen on the tiny outlines.

I think Jackie Topa might die a little if she sees this. :p Totally understand how you feel though.

I regret buying the Cathie Allen Position It . I watched a video and it looked great. It didn't work as well when I used it as when she demonstrated it on the Video, plus it took a lot of space on the table to use and was bulky to store. It was a newbie purchase when everything looked fabulous
I gave it away and stayed with my Stamp-A Ma Jig

I got 2 of these Xyron sticker machines free with a magazine subscription from quite a few years ago now and didn't use them much until I wanted to stick down a delicate and detailed Memory Box diecut and using glue was so frustrating and messy - so put it through the sticker machine to see how well it worked and it was 100 times easier than gluing - no mess and the diecut stuck down to my cardstock really well. Now I use both machines ALOT!
Oh, and I have those decorative-edged scissors too - they never cut cleanly. I should throw them out - I don't know why I am keeping them

Its not worthless. If your talking about Make the cut software, you just need to download the Silhouette/Cameo/Portrait plugin. I know there's a plugin for SCAL as well to cut with the Wishblade. I've used both these programs with my CraftRobo (same machine as the Wishblade) and they work perfectly fine. You can also download the Silhouette Studio software from the Silhouette America site and it will work with your Wishblade. So all is not lost with your wishblade. Give it a try - its a way better machine that the Cricut!

I don't use mine often, but when I do, it's because it's absolutely the best way to adhere that particular item. Would never give it up. I'm not getting ride of any of my 3 (yes three) Xyrons. Well technically, I have 4 because I still have my original 8.5" machine, but don't use it since I got my larger one.

I had that glass mat for years! It just sat there until I decided to unmount all my stamps. Was I ever glad to have that thing! I bought a hot knife which made the job SO easy. So some of the things I bought and regretted eventually were extremely useful. The rest I sold on ebay, recouped some losses and bought more stamps.

That was my biggest disappointment too! As long as I have glue I wondered "what was I thinking" when I bought this thing! I gave it to a child to play with.
The circle cutting contraption where it works kind-of like a compass. I think I used it only a few times and could never get it to actually cut a proper circle!
Circuit Expression & cartridges
Decorative Scissors
Box of cheapo gel pens
Bind-It-All
Sticker Maker
Letter dies that were way to large or way too small
Tim Holtz Distress Markers
Making Memories metal tag punch thingy
Perfect Layers
Glass cutting mat
Great list! I remember hearing lots of buzz about the tag maker then, very shortly, seeing it on clearance racks everywhere. So glad I passed on that one. Most people love Perfect Layers. If you put it on BST, I bet it would be sold in a day or two.

Perfect Layers in my garage sale bin - I might consider BST. I just never felt that it saved on paper and I'm better with my paper trimmer.
Now, I'm usually better at not believing the hype but I got sucker punched on the distress markers.
