Amy Schwartz announced today on main stage that Scotch will have Stampin' Up! projects featured on their product packaging! The Stampin' Up! name and website will be listed also.
I think this is SUCH a great idea! Way to go Marketing!
wow, does that mean we can start using the ATG tape dispensers??? Is that a Scotch product? I so want to get one of those...reminds me of Snail on steroids! Jan
They didn't mention anything about us selling 3M/Scotch products, but I'm wondering if we might see some new adhesives in our January catty (I hope, I hope!)
I hope we start selling 3M products. I use double stick tape at parties and also use the ATG for my personal use. THen I wouldn't feel so bad!!!Mono just doesn't do it anymore. Things come apart!
Did they use the word partnership or is it just that they'll have a pic of SU stuff on the packaging? (I'm thinking something like a package wrapped with SU paper/stamped items shown on a package of tape).

I'm not sure of the exact term used, though this waw mentioned as a product placement promotion. The photo of the 3M package showed a small picture of a project using SU products in the upper right hand corner of the package. I think this is an absolutely brilliant move on SU's part. Regardless of whether or not we actually end up carrying 3M products (which i hope we do) the exposure SU gets from all those retail sales of 3M products is absolutely huge!
Great advertising idea for SU! but I cannot recommend the Scotch tape runner. It was very disappointing and that was even when they had a full rebate on it so it was free.
The ATG, however, is my fast friend and I know many, many stampers who swear by the double-sided tape.
If I saw one, it was when I saw one and didn't know what it was. It was a HUGE dispenser for some type of tape.............it was red. And when I hear it called ATG..................and then saw that................makes me think ALL TERRAIN GLUE, (or gun).
To get the cheapes price on an ATG, you need to check websites that sell framing/art supplies. Scrapbooking sites sell them for more. The refills are very economical. They talk about this a lot on the Tool and Product Talk if you want more information.

haven't they been doing this already? didn't someone find the foam tape stuff with an SU card in the corner awhile ago?

Ha! THAT was my first thought!! I'll need to try to ask someone!
Everyone should immediately email DS with this suggestion!:-D
I know that I found a 3M product that had our "Lovely as a Tree" stamp with all the trees in the corner. It was obvious it was the Stampin' Up! stamp but no mention of Stampin' Up! on the package, that had to be about a year ago. I still have the package somewhere.

If the products have been on 3M stuff for a while, perhaps the news is that 3M will give SU! credit for the items. Although, I'd think with copyright laws they'd have to do that anyway....the mystery continues.

Reason: typo
I have had my ATG (2 of them in fact) for several years and I just LOVE, LOVE,LOVE it/them.
I wrote SU a while back and suggested that they might want to partner with Scotch 3M and low and behold maybe my wish is coming true.
I am so happy now I want be "misbehaving" at SU events. I am known in our groups as the "lady with the big tape gun" Now I hope to have lots of friends using them too!!!!!!

ATGs are da bomb! I was a professional picture framer for 13 years and that's what I used for all sorts of framing projects. It would be great if we could use those. My guess is that it's overkill though because of the size of the dispenser and the quantity on the roll. I don't think it will happen, but one never knows.

Yes - this is exactly what it is. They will be using SU! products on their packaging. They said that we would still be carrying our own product, so I don't think we will be carrying 3M/Scotch products.
They said by having our samples on the packaging and our website as well, it will drive customers to the website/company and then be referred to us demos.
I was very much hoping they would be offering the Scotch products for SU but no, as mentioned above, they will be partnering in a different way. Rats! But I think it's so cool that they will feature SU projects on the cardboard cards holding the Scotch product line (they showed a photo of the 3M foam tape with pic of the SU project coordinating with it in the corner) and apparently on the back it has the SU website for product info on SU, which of course also has the demo locator.
I agree...even though they concede they are supporting a competitor's product that way, they are more than making up for it in exposure for SU product and I think that's very cool!.
They also mentioned that SU projects will be on the front page of Cards magazine August issue. Whoo hoo! Jan

I think I remember that there were some of our images (a bear maybe?) used a few years back without permission....am I dreaming that?...I was thinking perhaps that this new partnership has something to do with a settlement they came to because of that issue.
I live in Minnesota, very near the Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company.
I shop in the company store on occasion, I get a great deal on adhesives and lots of other things.
I have used their tape runners and pop-up foam squares and I have been disapointed every time. I do like the ATGs, but I doubt it's that packaging on which SU! will be promoted. I'm assuming it will be the tape runners and foam adhesives that are sold with scrapbooking products.
I'm curious to see how this developes!
NO, it means that on 3m -scotch products you will see in the top right corner the SU logo and a blurb about Stampin Up! that is ALL it means- it is advertising only
