San Antonio Regional
You are going to have a blast! I'm going to the San Antonio regional also..it will be my 5th regional to attend!
Unlike convention, you will need to take some of your own supplies with you for the make-n-takes so be sure to check on the S.U. website for the list of ink pads, accessories and sometimes other stamps you will need to take with you. If you don't have everything, don't worry, you will be at round tables with other demonstrators and everyone is always willing to share. Be sure to check a couple of weeks before to be sure you have the correct supply list. and bring craft scissors to put your new stamp set together as that will be the stamps you will need for all the make-n-takes.
There will of course be swapping! Card fronts, 6 x 6, 8 1/2 x 11, 12 x 12 pages and I noticed at convention last year they had started trading "3-d" items so take your pick! I will probably be making 75-100 swaps. Of the regionals I've been too I'd say there is about 300-400 people in a day's session but I'm just guessing. Most of the swapping will take place while we are all waiting in line to register and on breaks so be sure to get there plenty early if you are driving over. Hold back one of your swaps (or one of each if you made more than one kind) as there will be a basket somewhere around the registration tables or main entrance so you can turn one in to Stampin' Up! You never know when one of your swaps might turn up on Stamper's Showcase!
There will also be display boards so bring a camera with flash and lots of film or a digital camera. This will be my first year with a digital so I'm not sure if maybe some other people might have tips for taking pictures with those but with a 35 mm I usually didn't take more than 4-5 cards per picture. Any more than that and you can see the detail well enough. I take lots of picture generally and I would generally take 6-7 rolls of film for a regional and a spare battery just in case.
They always have great speakers, SU staff and/or demonstrators...sharing great business tips, showing techniques and/or sample workshops so you will want to take notes. You will get a workbook that should have plenty of room for your notes.
A box lunch with a soft drink is provided and there is usually ice water available all day.
Hope that gives you sufficient information of what to expect. Have fun!!!
