Just got mine this week. I'm going to be saving some money. I don't think it offers anything to get excited about. I'm having trouble wanting to continue with SU. Anyone any thoughts?

I think it is an individual thing. I have many many things on my list to buy and need to find much more money to do so. People out grow things they used to love, many new stamp companies have come into the market and they provide other products. I have never been a SU demo but I like what they have to offer and their style---generally. There are some things I wish they did offer but considering my stamp and craft budget is small I am content. And will be stimulating the economy at the end of the month with a SU order.

I loved the sentiment set, So Happy For You because I'm lacking sentiments and I like the quirky font! I'm glad they offered the option to order sets from the big catalog because there's not a lot to choose from. I like Sweet Summer but I have plenty of flower sets. I'd get it if I didn't have so many flowers because I really like it.
I'll be getting Happy Together, I love those little partridges! I haven't researched the other sets available from the big catty.
I loved the winter mini. Some have written there isn't a thing they want. Me? I found more than any other year.
Other years I wasn't impressed and others were running for more!
I constantly research other companies. I want a set from Gina K, a few from PTI and a cute set from Stamping Bella that has stacked tea cups and very cute sentiments like - Wishing you prosperi-"tea". But as much as I look for other companies I always come back to SU!

I think the main things that keep me interseted in SU is that their coordination makes it REALLY easy to put together items that work, and that they do have a variety of different types of images/sets. While I don't need anohter flower set, they keep offering ones that are different from what I've already got. I also love my demo, so it's an added benefit to be able to call her and know I'm going to get good service.

I've only been stamping for a couple of years. It started with a SU party.
It didn't take long to get hooked. I loved all the matching merchandise
and of course bought a ton of it. Lately, like the op, I just haven't
been that excited with what they have to offer. I will continue to buy
things from them but not exclusively like previously. There are so many
other companies with wonderful products and service. It's good to
have choices. Sometimes it's a little too good to have choices! LOL!!
Maybe I'd better head over to the "cold turkey" thread for a little support!!
I feel much the same way... I like their products as the quality is good and they do stand behind their product. I was looking forward to their event, but was disappointed in their selection. The pricing for their product is much higher in Canada. We use to get better value sets for Salebration in the past then we are offered now.
I want to get the retrofit WWC and they cost $51.95, so it is only a pack of paper away from getting something free. I'm contemplating one of the sets from the catalogue or maybe the punch one--I already have a lot of the punches.
I have collected enough stamps I enjoy using and sentiments so unless it is something really special I have not wanted to purchase much SU in a long time. I do like their paper but I have recently started using GinaK and find I like that paper much more.
I really like this years SAB choices. I thought there was a pretty good variety and I love that one of them is a Digital Content CD for MDS that has everything from the SAB catalog in it.
To the original OP - your stamping style may have evolved over time. I think a major improvement from SU has been to add stamps from the regular catalogue to the choices for your free items, and the CD is definitely a good deal if you have the MDS. I like several sets from the new Occasions winter mini and always need to replenish cs, so I'm still trying to pare down my list :-)
I, too, am glad that they started offering options from IBC rather than just SAB. A question about the CD offered in SAB - do you have to have the SU software? What other options would work?
I have a link to SAB. I'll see if I can find it and post it.

I was disappointed too. For the first time ever there was NOTHING I wanted. I wound up ordering from PTI instead. I love the dies they have to match their stamp sets. The prices on SU are getting a bit too rich for my blood. I'm glad they came out with the clear stamps now. At least it's a cheaper alternative. I do love all their colors tho, and it's very handy for beginners. Mabe next year, SU!
Yes...This year the SAB choices are under par for them! The economy has taken a large toll, but if you want people to come out and spend their money, give them something to spend for!

I've pretty much stopped buying any craft supplies because I have sooo much, but I'm interested in the CD since I've doing a lot of digital work lately.
Wow! I have a huge list! Not everything is to my liking, but that's what makes the world go round! I like the SAB choices (especially Bliss and So Happy for You) and I LOVE that they are basically free! SAB is my favorite time of year and this year SU did not disappoint! I'm hostessing a big stamp camp in February so I'm soooo excited to get new goodies! In the occasions mini I'm waiting for the sympathy set, the eat chocolate set (so cute) and Nature's Walk.
I have catalogs going back to 2001 from SU! I find that my interest in their offerings are cyclical. Some catalogs just resonate with me, then the next might have almost nothing that interests me at all. Lately I'm not finding much that I want, but I know that will change.
I'm happy that you can now get stamps from the main catalog during SAB. That was a nice change last year, and I'm glad that they continued it. I remember years where it seemed like SAB had 4 options, and I liked none of them.
From the Occassions mini, I really like a lot of the sewing-related stuff. From the SAB brochure, I do like the sentiment set as well as the Bliss set. Plus there are a few sets from the big catalog that I would like to get for free too.

Sorry, Val, but what does the WWC retrofit stand for..... I kinda missed a beat there! Please explain as I am curious now.
I like that we can pick items from the catty instead of picking only the SAB sets that are offered although I do like the SAB sets this year. I have a question though... Did they lower the price of the items we are allowed to chose from? I know there is a list of the sets we can pick from, but I was just wondering because last year I remember I was going to get animal stories and then I didn't so I thought to myself that I will get that set this year and it's not on the list.
Also....sorry to be off topic here, but does anyone know if SU will be offering a sign up special during SAB this year? Thanks!

No, you don't need the SU software (MDS). Any graphics program that can manipulate PNG and JPG files will work. I prefer Photoshop, so I just buy the MDS add-on ( la carte) files if I want the image.
The MDS package does have some images/files that cannot be purchased la carte, though. Even if you don't use the software program, the images included with it, and there are a TON of them, are a bargain (if you like them).

I wondered about this, too. When I checked out the stamp offerings in the catalog, a lot of them were listed for 7.95. That seems like nearly half the price of what the former SAB sets were worth. It hardly seems like a fair swap.
I'm not thrilled with this year's SAB, but that's okay. I still plan on ordering a lot from the Occasions mini. I may change my mind after looking at the SAB gallery, though. Karen Barber made a lovely card for today's color challenge using the new flower set from SAB. I always change my mind after seeing other people's awesome samples!

I'm not sure if they dropped the SAB price or raised the price on some of the smaller sets in the catty. Every year, a few of the sets go up a little bit. A lot of the catalog offerings are the ala cart stamps or the single ones. It's set so that any set $14.95 or less is offered so those single stamps are up for grabs. For me, I don't want ALL the SAB offerings and there are a few single stamps on that list I'll get. I think it's a fair trade....free is free, I'm not going to be too picky. And that MDS CD, that sucker is worth WAY more than $14.95 and some demos paid way more than that to purchase it beforehand!
I agree that some catalogs hit the mark with me and others not so much. For the Holiday mini there were very few things I had to have but I have a very long list for the Occasions mini. I think the SAB is a good mix...if you have a lot of stamps already then go for the MDS CD or the accessories, if you're just starting out and want more stamps then you have the SAB sets or all the ones to choose from in the big catalog. You can't please all the people all the time. I think SU is doing a good job of giving choices. I remember when I would have all the free sets and then start to get duplicates...I'm glad there are more options now.

I agree 100%!
I looked at the SAB book several times and was very dissapointed.
There is not one thing I want to buy.

Last year the list you were allowed to choose from was for $15.95 and less, so yes, they did lower the price of available sets. Some of the ones that were available last year are still in the catalog but you can't get them as a SAB benefit this year like last because of that $1 reduction. That dropped a lot off the list. There are very few on this year's list that are even $14.95 - most are less. I think they did a good thing by letting you get certain priced sets out of the catalog, but it doesn't look good when you overall raise prices then lower the value of the sets you can get during SAB. SAB is still a good promotion, but the value of what you get overall for everything is less. You get less for your $50 (since sets and accessory prices are up from years past) and the value of the "freebie" you get is less, too. Makes it much easier to spend that money someplace else with other companies.

I totally agree! Its little like this that drove me away from SU and to other companies like PTI and Ginak

I thought they did, thanks for answering me. For a moment there I thought I was going nuts or something!
Does anyone know what you get in the "$50 Special bonus bundle" for signing up as a demo. I haven't decided if I am going to sign up again or not. I have a yearly fundraiser benefit for GLUT1 (my daugther's syndrome) and if I have it this year it makes sense to buy everything from myself and earn the instant income (AKA discount) and get the hostess benefits.
The 15% off and $50 in free stuff might sway me to rejoin.

We're hoping that the answer to your question is addressed at this week's Leadership Convention in Nashville!
There are 13 SAB items I want (some from the SAB catalog and some from the IBC choices being offered as SAB freebies). I won't have any problem buying $650 in product from the Occasions mini and the IBC to get what I want of the SAB offerings. (I'll actually up it to $700 to get the extra VR.)
I do wish there were more of the higher-priced stamps & stamp sets being offered as SAB freebies, but I am thankful we can choose from some IBC items at all. I joined during SAB in 2009, placed my first order then, and ended up with DOZENS of the same few SAB freebies because we could only choose SAB freebies from the SAB catalog. I would have scored big time if I could have chosen items from the IBC!
