I have a question for those of you who sell & buy on the BST forum. I placed some stamps up for sale on another forum (not Splitcoast) and a lady purchased a stamp set from me. The transaction went smoothly, but today she sent me a PM saying that she thought the stamp set she purchased was from another company (both have the same name) and was wondering if I would refund her money if she covered shipping back to me. She was very nice about it, but I'm a bit conflicted about the situation. Any advice?

It is a bummer that it happened and by all rights, you could say no because the mistake was the purchaser's. However, you really aren't out anything if she ships it back to you and you gain the purchaser's respect and gratitude if you do. If the other site is like this one there is a way to let people know about sellers who are good to work with and you would certainly score points there.
I would accept the return if it were me. I know that I would be grateful if I were the one who had made the mistake because my craft $$ have to go as far as they can and I'd want to have spent my $$ on what I intended.
Playing devil's advocate here... was the set used? If so, how do you know she didn't use it to stamp off a bunch of images and now is finished with it? Not that that would keep you from relisting it, but, just a thought. If that doesn't matter though, I'd say go with your gut.
Another thought... you could tell her that you'll refund her $ once you have the set back and make sure it's in the same condition as when you sent it.
That's an odd situation. I guess I would probably refund the money since she is offering to pay the postage.
I'm curious, how is it that 2 stamping companies have the same name?

Ditto what mamasix said!
A couple months ago, I bought a "newer" (according to the seller) Scor-Pal on this site. Turns out it was a lightly used older-style, one that I could have gotten for half the price on eBay. I was extremely disappointed and politely let the seller know that what she sold me was not "newer". Turns out, she had no idea there was a new style Scor-Pal and she offered me a partial refund. I declined the refund, but was glad that she cared enough to try to make things right.
Barbara, I don't think she meant the company names were the same. I think she meant that two different companies had a stamp set by the same name. It would be quite disappointing to think you're ordering one set and then get a completely different set instead.
I think it was her responsibility to verify what she was buying before she completed the transaction, possibly requesting a photo. She made a mistake and you owe her nothing. I could even be the case that she changed her mind or had buyer's remorse after it arrived and just wants her money back. Let your conscience be your guide but be wary of ripper-offers, too.

Another thought, if she paid by paypal she may file and get the money back anyway. So you might want to take her up on her offer, and tell her you will refund her when you have the stamps back in your hands.
However, you might want to suggest to her that if she does not want them she could always list them herself for sale on a board or ebay.
She admitted it was her fault, she didn't check the details on the post when she bought it. I have offered to refund her the payment minus the paypal fee once I receive the stamps. I think its the fair thing to do and what I would want someone to do for me.
I have to admit my first reaction was to say no, but in the end a good relationship is worth more to me than $10, even if it is a virtual one.
I'm with mamasix on this one. If the buyer is willing to pay the return postage, I don't see any reason not to refund the purchase AFTER you receive the stamps back. It's a good will thing.
