I have been asked to make some party favors, bags or boxes for a birthday party for some 3rd grade girls. The theme of the party is movie night. Any ideas for a favor? Thanks for any suggestions.
My 4th grade son is having the same party theme (well, we are going to a movie). I was going to do the popcorn containers that you can find at the dollar store filled with some treats, like what pjl-ny suggested. I remember seeing some on someone's blog in the fall ... I will see if I can find the link!
Love those boxes!!! You can use SU Treat Yourself Images for tags and decorations (with "popcorn" being the paper theme). Look on the stamp set galleries for ideas.
If you have a Cricut Expression, the 'Tags, Bags, Boxes & More' cartridge has a popcorn box that you can cut out on page 131. You would have to have the Expression in order to make a big enough box to fill with other items besides candy. (I have a Create and made a covered box - holds 1 Ferrero candy! It's the flaps that you have to take into account in the overall width of a box on a 6" mat. The popcorn box has a bottom flap.)
Cute theme for the party. Hope you receive usable ideas here - have no doubt you will.
There are several Cricut cartridges that have treat/favor boxes/containers. I would suggest you use an Expression to cut them so you can use the Fit to Page feature. Otherwise they would turn out too small to really be used.
I would certainly suggest you put a liner of plastic or celephane before the goodies go in.
We did the same for 5th grade girls. We got the pop corn containers from the Target Dollar Spot and put the girls' names on them with cut out letters. We filled them with "movie candy". Walgreen's has gummy popcorn candy that comes in boxes that look like movie pop corn containers. We also added 3-D glasses since we watched a 3-D movie at home that night.
Have fun and let us know what you finally come up with!
I was at Michael's yesterday and they have some great plastic popcorn containers ... mine had blue ones, purple ones and black/gold ones, and they are a little larger than the dollar store ones I have seen. They also had serviettes and round coasters to match (and little butter pitchers, if the party is at your home, and they were adorable!). I found them in the dollar (well, $1.50 in Canada) section. I am going to use the coaster for the invitations.
I made some popcorn containers for a couple of craft fairs that I did in the Fall. Here is the link to the post on my blog. As you can see, I also made a gift card holder for the container. If you buy the containers I would definitely suggest the Dollar Tree. They are 2/$1 there versus $1 each at Target.
Is the movie being played at the home? You could put some candy and maybe nail polish in there for the girls to pamper themselves that night too.

This is the one I saw! Thank you for posting the link (and I am now following your blog!).

Looks like you are getting some great ideas, GIL!
Aww, thanks. Honestly, I am so amazed by the stuff that I see here on SCS and on so many other blogs... mine pales in comparison to most. My life has been turned upside down for a few months, but I hope to start posting more often.
