I have made many chipbord albums but not acrylic.ideas would be greatful.

1. Not necessarily trends (maybe?), but what I like and so use: Anything versatile for all occasions/people--nature, flourishes, sihouettes--and in an elegant style.
2. Copics--already have enough coloring options that are much cheaper, digital stamping (since when is clip art stamping?); Cricut--guess I'm too much of a stamper and not just a gluer-oner; cutesy anything--almost prevented me from getting started in the stamping craft; skulls, creepy things and weird sayings--who would I send a card to made with them?
3. No ideas, as I'm not even sure what's a trend and what I'm just discovering that been around a long time and maybe even on the way out. However, if I like it, I will go with it and if I don't care for it I'll pass---old or new.
LOVE - CAS, nesties, CB backgrounds (make any card look good)
Sitting out - cupcakes, digi stamps (I agree with glitterati - there is no stamp there), skulls, scary things, and realistic stamps.
Future trends - don't have a clue. I tend to do what I like, and as I learn/reach out to new things, add them as regulars if I like them. Not too excited about the fabric possibility.
In the end, the most important thing is that we enjoy what we do.
1. What current trend do you love? Wanting to get into copic coloring, silhouettes
2. What current trend are you sitting out? inchies, headless rubber stamps
3. What trends do you see coming up next? Digi images, less rubber stamps
Because of expense of rubber stamps

Clean and Simple, a reference to a style of card that doesn't use lots of layers or embellishments but relies on a minimalist approach to achieve design brilliance. (hee, hee, I couldn't resist!) Check out the CAS challenges HERE for specific examples.
1. What current trend do you love? Digital images & papers (for 'real' cards...)
2. What current trend are you sitting out? intricate punches
3. What trends do you see coming up next? more flexibility with digis & different ways to use them
Great thread
1. I'm not the "Gotta have it" trendy...I go with
whatever I like...Alcohol inks..distressing..buttons..
ribbons..stitching..texture..fabric..rubber stamps!!
2.no woodgrain..owls..robots.. ???
3.New coming trends...definately Fabric!!...homemade embellishments..
lots of die-cuts ???
It will be interesting...lol
1) Trends I love: nature, asian, whimsey
2) Trends I am sitting out: faceless, owls, cupcakes
3) New trends: Your guess is as good as mine.. but if I dont like it, I wont be doing it.

Hmmm. this is fun! You've really got me thinking now...I'm pretty picky, trend or no trend I have to really like it...although I love a lot of what is out now:
1)love:anything nature/animals/plants/bugz especially the silhouettes of birds, trees and bold florals.fun and silly things like cartoon owls and robots. sophisticated graphics to make patterns ect. Die cutting and embossing, watercolour with reinkers, circles, mixing textures and patterns, bling, paper purses...way too much stuff!(I like the cupcakes as long as they don't have faces)
2)food with faces and people without faces...both are creepy to me! digi 'stamps' = clip-art. Definitely the gray and yellow combo...just can't do it. copics, I know I would love them and that's the problem! (same for nesties!)
3) I totally agree with the fabric/textiles guess but, not just fabric also cork, wood and other more natural materials. I can see more and more cross over between papercrafting and home decor, sewing and jewelery making. Also a lot more diy, repurposing and eco-friendly products. More...'modular?' stamps aka things that can be put together to create images, characters, scenes...
1. What current trend do you love?
Stamps to colour in rather than use as silhouettes. This means a whole new addiction to pencils, paints and pens! I love cupcakes, flowers, but most of all trees, so versatile, work for men cards, you can never have too many! And of course I've contradicted myself already, trees are mostly silhouettes with no colouring to do:oops:
2. What current trend are you sitting out?
The scroll die cuts and I've been resisting the die-cut borders but just succumbed. Also can't get to grips with the headless people in scenes...
3. What trends do you see coming up next?
I see Digi as getting ever bigger, maybe with paper and "stamps" co-ordinating. Can't think of anything new to come up, but I'm the last to jump on the bandwagon;).
As another who has taken the diversion from sewing into papercrafts I'm finding the costs lower but the temptatiom more... more stamps, more papers more Nesties...:p
My answers:
I like the look of the Kokeshi dolls and have a few of those stamps but found a Hero Arts set that so reminded me of my Polish Grandmother and her babushkas...they are sort of along the same vein of the Oriental dolls
I also was not sure whether I would like the hot air balloons but they can be quite cheery and colorful so did a CAS card with a set from Sunday International CAS bright colors by jlinsenman at Splitcoaststampers
I am a person who admires certain trends but might not follow that trend until I am ready to...lol...
I have been trying to "play more" with my punches and decorative scissors whether they are in or out.
Some of the trends I have not followed are the copics (expensive and I am not a proficient colorer yet in any medium)...although I do admire those that are.
Headless people, although again, have admired some cards using those stamps, skulls, robots.
I have no idea what trends are up and coming but I am all for those that might use whatever I have in my stash/collections...lol
1. Current trend. Guess I buy what I like. I like the cupcakes and flip flops and all the cool patterned paper. Also like ribbon and buttons.
2. Things I'm sitting out on. Copic markers! Way too expensive and OVER RATED! Can't stand hot air balloons, anything country-western, cartoon people with BIG eyes and hair sticking out all over and Nesties.
3. Trends. Not sure what will be happening. I'll keep my eyes open.

Well since I seem to be the only one I will say:
Love: skulls and grunge (don't see they will last much longer though)
Sitting Out: cupcakes, sewing (just not worth dragging Grandma's machine downstairs)
Next: heck, I rarely recognize a trend before it is gone!
So what is special about copics? What makes them different from other markers???
I saw some stamps of kids without mouths and thought there must be a stamp set with mouths with different expressions so you can stamp the expression on the face that you want. They were ugly. I haven't seen any post saying that someone actually liked those stamps??
I rarely comment on the threads but this one got me.
What do I love: Making cards. New Stampin Up colors. A variety of options which we definitely have.
What am I sitting out: Big heads, headless, Copics (so expensive, think of all the stamps and paper..........one Copic will buy!)
Upcoming trends: I think soft, romantic and "pretty" will be big over the next year. DP that is in softer tones. Background stamps will be used more. Lots of layers without lots of weight.

Sorry to hijack the trend thread, but I think Copics are a huge trend... ;o)
I only have about 25 Copics, because i am buying them slowly, but the great thing about them is 1) that they generally have a deeper bolder colour than any waterbased medium (except artist's watercolour maybe.) 2) They are alcohol-based, so they do a lot more.
Normally, "they" say you need to colour with all Copics & have a lot of monochromatic shades, but I just started with a rainbow selection and couple faves like turquoise... then you can colour with reinkers or whatever you normally use, but deepen your shadows & areas of colour with a Copic of copic strokes and the blender--me LIKEy, but different strokes for different artistes!

I totally agree Mel! You can color with all sorts of mediums on top of your copics, so you don't need too many! I still use my stampin markers, gelly rolls, prismas, etc WITH my copics!

So, what do you *really* think? ;) *chuckle*
KIDDING. I am KIDDING you!
Personally speaking, I don't care for the larger images with mouth-less faces, either. But, art is, of course, highly subjective, beauty being in the eye of the beholder and whatnot--to each his own! LOL!

I wonder where the inspiration for these images came from...maybe wishful thinking for some acquaintances (tee hee)

I don't know if they're trends or not, but I love my Big Kick, Nesties, flourishes and my Cricut (SCAL). Of course, digis although I'd really love to go rubber soon
I don't really like the food with faces, cupcakes, or owls (although CC Designs has cute ones IMO) oh and the drink stuff...
I'd love to see more fabric used... also DIY embellishments (although maybe those are already big and I'm a bit clueless?). Not really good at trends here!
What I like: anything nature-inspired like trees, flowers, birds and other animals (all both realistic and funky styles), CAS, buttons (although this is not a new trend), silhouettes
What I'm not crazy about: skulls, too much grunge, foods with faces and people without complete faces, stick figured people
Future trends: definitely more digistamps, fabric, stitching (better learn to sew quickly! :-)) and textures, esp those that promote being green.

1. What current trend do you love?
Butterflies, romantic look, birds and owls, odd color combos, anything nature. Lots of people said they're sitting out the owls but the magazines are full of owl cards!
2. What current trend are you sitting out?
Skulls and daggers (eeww...gross!) and (the opposite end) anything 'cutesy' (teddy bears, etc.) except possibly for new-baby cards.
3. What trends do you see coming up next?
Like everyone, I see fabric as the next big thing. We're already seeing it a little in lace, rick rack, and those things you put on curtains and pillows with hanging pom poms (whatever they're called). I think the fabrics to look for (so far as crafting goes at least) are the shiny floral chintzes (1930s style) and others with texture.
I think Vintage is going to be a trend in everything, including home decor, but not the sepia-toned, shabby sort. Rather it's the colorful, florals and fruit-patterns, lots of homey, plump and cushiony things. Lots of 1930s and 1940s retro.... it's even making a comeback in kitchen appliances!
1. What current trend do you love?
2. What current trend are you sitting out?
3. What trends do you see coming up next?
1. CAS- not that it's a trend, but I do think people will learn less is more in this economy! I also love buttons, & sewing- although I suck at it.
2. Digi anything. ugh. It's SO not stamping!
3. I see less is more happening-reduce, re-use, etc. Folk is making a major comeback, and fabric-denim(think Julie Campbell! ;)
1. What current trend do you love?
2. What current trend are you sitting out?
3. What trends do you see coming up next?
My answers:
1. Kokeshi dolls
2. Stars, I just can't get into that one
3. no idea!
Since I've been reading and commenting here, I guess I should contribute:
1) coloring. I love images that *can* be colored and all the media- watercolors, markers, pencils. I love that coloring your images in creative ways is big- and I will continue to do it whether it stays popular or not.
2) the weird faced kids- although I *did* buy the Peter and Wendy set with the big eyes- but can't remember the designer/company right now. The Wendy with the glasses and the book was SOOOO me at that age I could not resist!.
Sewing on cards- just cannot go there.
I am also sitting out Copics because, although they are wonderful, I already have a huge collection of Bics, Sharpies and over 100 Prismacolor markers. I recognize the value of re-filling and replacing nibs, but that is not worth buying when I already have more than enough. *IF* I am still stamping when my current markers start dying, I will probably replace them, one at a time, with Copics, but that's a long way off.
3) I would love to see background stamps become more popular. I love them but they are not easily found. Popularity would make more available. So, that's my wish for the next trend. What the next trend will actually be I have no idea.
----------->What ever happened to Scentsy??? I was telling some of my blog readers about the perfume for your paper! They didn't believe me, of course! Anyone still use the stuff????

Interesting... as far as cardmaking goes, I think I'm too new for this one ;).
A friend showed me a book party catalog for a product that is called Scentsy ~ but -- it's wickless candles for the home. They were gorgeous but I have cats and allergies/sensitivity to some perfumes ~ I guess if scented cards became a trend again I'd be sitting this one out !
1. What current trend do you love?
2. What current trend are you sitting out?
3. What trends do you see coming up next?
1. Copics, images that work well with Copics, vintage, shabby chic, ribbon, pearls, Rhinestones, text stamps and DP, sentiments with two fonts in them, quote stamps, gift packaging, gift sets, Teddy bears (taylored expressions new set), Flourishes, shimmer/glimmer mist, intricate punches (tho I'd prefer dies, take up less space!), realistic/botanical flower/fruit images, several embellies per card, layered embellies, silk ribbon, bow Easy, threading something through button holes (I used to leave em naked!), paper piecing, paper piercing, layering AKA paper tole, paper/silk flowers, distress inks/techniques, crackle paint, chipboard shapes, monograms, creating for a cause like the Butterfly Project for the Houston Holocaust Museum
2. Headless and/or faceless people, cartoony images especially of people or animals dressed to look like people, skulls, owls, mushrooms, gnomes/elves, 70's colours, cupcakes! especially with faces!! Chunky Glitter on everything including things that are not naturally irridescent or shiny (I prefer shimmer, fine and delicate), 'banner shaped' ends on sentiment panels, words written with rhinestones, Suggestive card sentiments, digi images (I have a few but I am not on the bandwagon)
3. Fabric, more embossing and die cutting, Asian, backgrounds meant to be coloured to look like DP, copic ink pads! Shaped cards, not just nesties 'labels' shapes or circles but other interesting shapes, DP designed to be coloured with Copics, ribbon that has colourable images on it, more 'inside' the card sentiments and verses, more decorating the inside of cards ( tho I'm not there yet); earth friendly paper, inks and images
yep, I know some of the things I'm listing as trends are already here but I think they will get much bigger to where everyone is doing it, not just some
