I think either is ok. Some people send Christmas cards the day after Thanksgiving. I remember something about Christmas lasting until January 6 in some countries. I don't remember exactly. I wouldn't be offended if I got a card late, but I'm pretty laid back. I mailed mine a day or two before Christmas last year and my sister told me I was so late I shouldn't even bother.. I guess to each his own.
I have a Christmas card that is headed to England that I am mailing tomorrow. I am fine with it....I know it will get their late, but better late than never. I usually receive Christmas cards through the last week of December and don't mind at all.
Technically the 12 days of Christmas are from now to Epiphany January 6th so it is perfectly in keeping with Christmas to send/receive cards throughout this time.
I don't send Christmas things (except overseas) before St Nick's day anyway which is 6th December - to my mind that makes a nice tidy little month of Christmas cheer.
I have a friend who always sends her Christmas letter in mid-January at the earliest - one year it arrived almost for Easter! Sometimes the cards and presents that arrive beyond their intended holiday seem more special as they stand out rather than getting 'lost' with all the others that came right on the day. That being said, I vote to send those Christmas cards now...I'm sure they will be enjoyed by the recipients!
I wouldn't worry about sending it out a bit late-I admit that I've done that before-it's the thought that goes with the card that matters-not the timing. And I like to get cards after Christmas-spreads out the season. :-)
Wow, the replies so far are encouraging. In the past if the card wasn't postmarked by Dec. 24th, I sent a New Year's card instead, someone told me it was "bad form". Sounds like I can still get some out!

I know there are some that are superstitious about it.
However, it is never poor form IMHO to send anyone a greeting.;)
I'm going to do some "winter greetings" I think. We got a new puppy a couple of weeks ago, and discovered it was a very bad time of year to do that! I've been so tired that I haven't done much and didn't get my cards out.
I say send Christmas cards. Of course, I am perenially late with these things, lol! I even have a stamp that looks like spidery, antique handwriting that says, "officially late." It gets quite a bit of use on the outside of envelopes...
Considering I still have 4 more to make for 2 friends, my parents, and my brother, mine will be going out after Christmas. I just ran out of time to get them done before Christmas eve. So better late than never.
Since the family is not home today - I have been stampin' all day! Christmas cards for THIS year, birthday cards for last month and this month, thank you cards from I cannot remember how far back, etc. As for me, you will get it when I get to it and that is TODAY! My creativity for the day is twindling...of course, I can always regain from SCS!
I say send them!!! Anytime is a fun time!!! So says me, who is still sending cards, and probably will not have them done by the 27th, which is TOMORROW!!!! teehehehe!!!! Oh well!! That's just the way to cookie crumbles!

I agree. Christmas is not over. I hate when everyone lets it end on the 25th. The three kings haven't even made it to Bethlehem yet! lol! I think if the wise men get credit for showing up 12 days late, your cards can too. lol!
For that matter, we don't take our tree down until at least Epiphany (not much later) and I plan on listening to Christmas carols and enjoying the beauty of the season until then. I love it too much to let it go so soon!

I completely agree - I'm almost finished with 25 Christmas cards I hope to send out by Monday -- maybe more by then!
I like to make sure cards arrive no later than January 2nd. Epiphany is definitely the big deadline. Heck, I'm on such a streak of not even getting cards done, it will amaze people to get one at all!!
I need a Christmas stamp that says - Surprise! I finished my Christmas cards! I should make one like that with my Just Rite stamper to put on the envelopes ;) !
I have a friend who traditionally sends out a "Winter Card" and waits until after Christmas to send it--intentionally! She likes to extend Christmas this way. I get one every year from her right around or after New Years. I love it!
It is just what she does each year. Send it when you can, the recipient will be pleased to have Christmas extend longer! That's the way I see it! Have fun!
Most of my cards went out on time but I have a few that are going out tomorrow. These are for some of my closest friends so I thought I'd put a funny poem in them:
Sorry this card is late
arriving at your door
But handmade cards such as mine
can't be found in any store
This card took skill and talent
And dedication to create
With days of thought and craftsmanship
It's no wonder that it's late!
