I have not had any problem with the cellophane tube flaps staying closed. I also bought mine from GT Bags. Sorry to hear that you are having a problem.
My bags all stayed taped together, but my M&Ms starting turning whitish on the edges. Maybe I left them in the car and the heat or something? I was very surprised. I thought M&Ms melted in your mouth, not your hands. (ha ha, remember that commercial from wayyyyyy back when?)

Chocolates don't like extreme heat, extreme cold or high humidity. :( I've never seen the white edges on M & M's, but I have seen cracked outer cover on ones I've frozen.
I filled about 30 bags last night and sealed the flaps closed. I didn't tie the tags on yet. This morning I noticed that all the flaps were open - the adhesive didn't stick. Did anyone else have this problem? I don't fill the bags all the way to the top, so the flap had a flat piece to stick to. I bought the bags from GT Bags. I emailed them and they replied saying they hadn't heard of anything like this happening....
Hi! I bought my bags from ClearBags and filled about 15 when I first got them. I noticed last week that most of them were unstuck already. I didn't fill them all the way to the top, either, thinking that would allow the adhesive strip to seal tightly. I guess I'll be tying them closed with thread or ribbon. My first craft fair isn't until Oct. 23 & 24, so I was afraid the candy would get stale if I did it too early....maybe I need to start, though, as it looks like it might take a few more steps than I was expecting!

Just got a reply from GT Bags that my non-sticking bags are an isolated incident - they haven't heard from anyone else having a problem. They offered to replace my bags and were super-nice and accommodating. I'm still a little bummed that all my bags popped open.
oh, great, I'm not the only one. None of mine stay closed...I've had to tie them shut! I thought that was just how it was going to be.
I have 1500 more coming so lets hope those dont do that too, but the 2 batches I got from clear bags split up the sides from the bottom...they got a bad batch and so I got 2 of them also.I think we have brought this on ourselves...the manufacturers just can't keep up with us!
I'm about half and half for bags staying shut and popping open. I don't fill mine all the way completely to the top, either. Now I just tie them shut...I think they look better that way anyway, and I don't have to worry about them coming open when I transport them between the house and craft shows.

Mine popped open - they never responded to my email.
The tubes filled with green peanut M & M's and the flower tops are so darn cute! Another clever idea for using the candy and bags! Thanks for sharing. I made up about 4 dozen bags 3 weeks ago and none of them have popped open (top or bottom). That would be frustrating if they did! I have attached my "tag" just using a dimensional pop-up sticky thing (technical term right) - some are SU dimensionals, others are the pop-up glue dots -those are the GlueDot brand that I get at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc. So many creative people here on SCS!

Thanks for letting us know that yours held together (I'm guessing you mean that you used the tape closure on the end of the bag rather than tying it). One more question, did you have the bag opening at the top, under the tag area or at the bottom, exposed?
Some of mine popped open, but seem to be ok. I'm not too concerned because I tied them shut with ribbon before sealing the top and attaching my topper to that. LOVE these projects!
I just got a call from GT bag company. They are on over load trying to get are bags out to us. Mine are on back order and won't be shipping until the end of the month. They are filling orders on a first come first serve right now. The man said it's a full time job just calling and telling people they won't have the bags right away. I'm glad I got bags about a month ago to do what I wanted for Halloween so I can wait. I also ordered some of the 2x8 bags for Christmas so I can do pretzels and peppermint patties. I can't remember the last time I got a call saying something was on back order. They are a family owned company and are putting our bags before everything else right now. He also said they appericate all the goodies we have been sending them. Just wanted to let people know what is going on.
I ordered (my second batch) the other day. I haven't received a phone call saying that they are on back order. Have any of you that did receive those calls gotten your bags yet?
Have fun - you won't be sorry. I keep making them and can't stop but I guess I will when I run out of M&M's!
hahaha
I know.. my daughter and husband always sit nearby waiting to eat the defective ones or the ones that drop on the floor!! (eww!)
I don't really like plain chocolate m&m's which is good for me as I don't eat any myself.
Now - skittles are a different story!
I made 60 stix from 6 bags of m&m's so far and didn't use any of the red or green ones yet.
I am interested whether anyone has received bags lately? I placed an order yesterday and I"m wondering now if they're still on backorder. I didn't get any warning when I put them in my cart that they were on backorder but the site doesn't seem that sophisticated so it might not do that. Thanks!

I ordered my latest batch on the afternoon of October 11th and they arrived on October 18th. There was a little snack size back of m&m's in there apologizing for the delay, but there wasn't a delay as far as I could tell. It was super sweet of them though.
I ordered my bags the first week of October. They came last week. Mine were on back order and they first said it would be towards the end of the month. I was suprised to get them so fast. I also got a snack size bags of M&Ms and a bunch of samples.

They have been very good about phoning you if there is big delay. I have a friend in VA who said they called her to apologize that there would be a slight delay....but that was a few weeks ago. They have been "overwhelmed" with orders and being just a family company they process them as quickly as possible. I might add - they are thrilled with the business!
Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. I was pleasantly surprised to receive my bags yesterday. I ordered late Saturday/early Sunday morning and had them by Wednesday. Super service! Now I just have to find Christmas m&ms and I can get busy!
You'll have Christmas M&M's in with the regular bag......I used a regular bag for Fall. I took out the blue/green ones. If I would of left those alone I'd be able to make green ones for Christmas, but of course I ate them........
I figure as soon as Halloween is over the Christmas M&Ms will appear. I do have some fun size m&ms left over from trick or treat. I may go through those and pull out the red and green ones --guess i'll have to eat the others.
Here are a few I made for a craft fair next weekend. I put them in a rectangular basket that made it look a bit like a window box.

ldumont999 ~~ You did an awesome job and your M&M sticks look so great! Where did you find Christmas M&M's? I have looked but none in our area yet.
I found them at our BJ's (like Sam's club or CostCo). Last year I saw them and bought one bag - assuming I would buy more later. By a week before Thanksgiving I couldn't find Christmas M&M's anywhere. This year I bought five, five-pound bags as soon as I saw them. LOL If I have left overs, I divide the red and green ones after the holidays and use the red ones for Valentine's day and the green ones for St. Patrick's day.

I just spotted the holiday (red & green) M&M's at Walmart yesterday. They were in a special section of candies where they normally do a display of seasonal items. One half of the aisle was Christmas candy, the other half Halloween! (Keep in mind, this was in a totally different part of the store than where the enormous, multi-aisle display of Halloween candy is located. Wouldn't want to put it all in one place, now, would we? :rolleyes
The only reason I found this little oasis of candy was that I needed some masking tape and stumbled on the candy aisle in the process.
