Oh, no! Don't give up. We don't mind people practicing in this thread until they get it right, and you are almost there. Your code was:

[*color=green]Trish in Wisconsin[color/]

That ending tag's slash needs to be ahead of the word color, not behind it. The correct code would be like this:

[*color=green]Trish in Wisconsin

Delete the *asterisk in that line of code and give it another try...?

Yay, you did it.

Now that you have figured out the code, you can add it to all of your posts automatically by clicking at the top of the screen where it says "Welcome, TriboHearts." Then click on Edit Signature in the left column, and you can enter your code in that window.

Sorry to start this thread up again, but I have a question -

what is the difference between:
//www.splitcoaststampers.com">My Favorite Website
and
[*url=www.splitcoaststampers.com][*color=blue]My Favorite Website

I know that the second one gives you a colored link, but aside from that what is the difference!!! when do you use each one.
My head is spinning trying to sort all of this out!!!
TIA!

the bracket version is like shorthand, kinda. or more accurately, it's a way that's more english-like than the purely code version. it's used by the software that runs our forums/gallery, but not guaranteed to work elsewhere.

when you see the "<a href" stuff, that's actual HTML code. HTML is the building block language of any web page. it lets you "markup" your page (that's the "M" in HTML) so that the computer will know what to do with what you've typed (if you type a web address in HTML, you have to include the "<a href" stuff so the computer knows it's a web address).

for your purposes, using the bracket method should work here in the forums and also the gallery.

OK, Connie, your HTML code is 100% right... but only if you were posting it on a website or in a comment on a blog that accepts HTML tags.

To use links on the forums here, your code needs to be something like this instead:

[*url=stampinfrogscreativejourney.blogspot.com]My Blog

Try copying that line, remove the * asterisk, and see whether you can get it to work.

You got it.

Now that it's working right, do you want to add color to it? That code would be like this:

[*url=stampinfrogscreativejourney.blogspot.com][*color=purple]My Blog

You can change the color=purple to any of the standard color names, and you would also need to delete the two asterisks from that line of code.

How about that? I looked at your blog and took a guess.

I'm glad you've got it the way you want it.
