Hi, I just uploaded a bunch of items into my gallery and wanted to add a link that is attached to a word, like we can do here by clicking the lnk button above. Is there a way to do this in the gallery?

A couple of weeks ago, Jenn shared this code to add a link in a gallery description. Just remove the * character at the beginning and change the rest to the web address and words that you want.
The easiest way to do it, is to go to the site with another page open and copy the address from the top of the browser and paste it in the space.
I'm not sure on this, since it has been a couple of months since I've done it, but I think you need to erase the http:// part of the URL if you do it that way.

Yep, the only thing that goes in the space is what is copied.

Opps, I guess it did work, I just was impatient and did not give the change long enough to show up. Now I need to find a place to store it so I will know how to next time ;) THANK YOU for getting the info to us :p

I've tried to do this a couple of times before without success, but I've finally gotten colored links to work in a gallery description. Here's the code for anyone else who wants to try it. Delete the asterisks, and edit it for your link.
The pair of color tags must be nested inside the pair of url tags. There is a delay and your changes won't appear immediately. That's where I was going wrong in the past. I would click Edit Photo, try editing the code, figure it didn't work, and switch it back again before the gallery had a chance to catch up to my changes.
Brilliant ... I've just tried this and it works!
I always wondered how folks made a link themselves ... thought I was missing a gadget on my toolbar!
TFS!
Does this work on other sites besides splitcoast? In other words, if I'm trying to leave a comment on someone's blog and I want to include a link to another website or to a photo in my gallery, can I use this code in a blog comment section or is there something else I'm supposed to do?

Lisa,
If the blog allows HTML in the comment section, you would type the following to create a hyperlink: Forums at Splitcoaststampers">My Favorite Website
Misha, type your broken code here, and one of us will help you fix it. Just add extra * asterisks inside the opening square brackets so that the code will appear in your post. OK?
When you haven't done it before, writing code is like learning a foreign language. It's tricky until you get the hang of it. We'll be happy to help you (and others) figure it out.

Thanks I found the other thread and it must of been explained a little differently because I GET IT now. Sometimes it just takes me a while, lol.
Thank you
Woot Woot!!! Soo excited this actually worked! I need to write it down somewhere though, no way I could remember that until I've done it many times! Thanks for those who helped!
