I am wanting to make cards for the Cancer patients that come to the Hospital I work at. Does anyone have suggestions on what kinds of cards might work best?
I would stay away from glitter. I see that a lot on cards that are going to patients of any kind. And every site says stay away from "Get well soon", "Hope you feel better" sentiments.
You don't necessarily need a sentiment at all, a card can be complete without! Otherwise I agree with previous posters, its best to stick with things like "Thinking of you" or "Just for you" or (if you know it's appropriate for the recipient) "You're in my prayers".
In terms if design, it's going to depend on you and the style you're comfortable with as much as your knowledge of the recipient. My guess is that just the fact you've thought to make it and give it will be appreciated more than the design itself, IYSWIM.
Don't forget celebrate you. It isn't always a terminal situation even though it is serious. They celebrate each day and each milestone in their treatment. Good for you do do this. While my sister was on chemo my stamping friends sent her several cards that just made her day and got her through. A little paper and ink can really touch a heart. :-)

I think any card that someone takes the time to send is nice. The sentiment can be anything encouraging, prayful, sweet, or even funny...chemo patients need a laugh, too. I got over 500 cards when I took chemo and radiation, and all of them were special to me. It truly is the thought that counts. Having said that, I think I did especially like uplifting, encouraging cards the best...but that may just be me.
But I totally agree with what Kathy said, "a little paper and ink can really touch a heart."
I have done quite a few cards for cancer patients and survivors, because my friend Jan (who died in Sept) used to crochet blankets for fellow patients, and she gave them a card with the blanket. Even though she is gone now we are continuing to make blankets and I am still making cards. If you do a search for cards for cancer in my gallery, you should see some. I had issues doing male cards, but I think I've gotten it figured out since I got the PTI Through the Trees set. I usually use Thinking of You, Hope, etc.
