Default pressing ribbon

has anyone used a hair flat iron to press ribbon?

I don't use any hair heating items, so IDK if it would get too hot?
I know an iron gets pretty hot too. so I am thinking it should be OK

Ive ran ribbon through my curling iron with no problems. I just pulled it through pretty quick a couple of times.

OK yes that's good to know. I don't have curling iron, so would be buying something, so I thought flat iron.

they have little tiny irons, but then you still need to have a surface to iron on

I have a gadget for ironing ribbon made by Pebbles Inc from years ago. I just checked and there are some on Ebay. I brought it to a scrapbook crop and everyone thought it was a ridiculous thing to own but many people ended up using it.

Do you have a clothes iron?
I spritz the ribbon, put it between a couple of wash clothes and iron it.

yes, I have a clothes iron, but I don't want to drag out that, and cloths and spray bottle. I guess that would be worth it if I was doing a whole roll or even couple yards, but I want something for the drawer I can pull out and knock out the folds of the length I am about to use.

yes, Mary Beth, I knew those existed, but didn't know they still did ;)
I'll compare them to flat iron - thanks for the name of yours

I am fairly lazy so, I bought a magnetic ironing pad to leave out on top of my dryer and 99% of the time my clothes iron is not put away its sitting on that mat on the dryer in the laundry room. the old table top board I have for the craft room stays in the craft room closet along with the original iron I ruined melting old crayons on it... ( it works but, I don't need fun colors on my clothes I am willing to iron ha ha) so, if you do find some hand held thing that works, come update us

I do not own a flat hair iron but, I do have a curling iron and I'd bet it would work with the heat down on low. ( but, its at least 10 " long or so? not a small thing)

I went to some craft fairs here today with my girlfriend from work, and we shopped, or she shopped and I bought I am a buyer not a shopper. and I looked at her and Said I am done with gifts for Christmas and paused "For Me" ;) ( I hauled home hand quilted scraps that had been sewn into heart ornaments for the tree.)

I bought a flat iron for this purpose, but it doesn't work because the 2 blades (for lack of a better word), don't meet. It's difficult to tell with the pic you linked, although the last photo looks pretty good.

oooh good point! like ribbon is thinner than a chunk of hair you want to flatten
I will make sure it's returnable if I get it then

Kelly, MiamiKel4, has a video on her channel showing a small iron from Dollar Tree. She said it works great for ribbon. I can’t link on this device, but she should be easy to find on YouTube.

does it have like a foot thing to keep the heat off your table if you set it down? ( forgot) am guessing you could get a pot holder/ type thing to have a cool spot for it?

Took some pics for ya. Then I saw your ?? about the footie thing. So snapped one of that too.

I had one printed ribbon that left some black streaks on the plates but I just swiped some paper through and it came off easy enough.
