I have about 10 embossing folders. I would like to try the 3D EFs but my budget is tight and I haven’t figured out if I would need new accessories to go with them. I have the original SU Big Shot from years ago. The emboss and die cut folders are intriguing to me! Fun poll!
I own 11 -- 3 floral, 2 mini texture fades, and the rest are backgrounds like tile, kaleidoscope, paint, . I don't watch content creators who use them, so they slip by. The ones I do have really speak to me.
That’s interesting, I never thought about counting them, I have on file 26 of the oversized/bi-directional and 98 of the standard/A2 size. I probably have a few more in the stamp cases where they are mostly used. I make no distinction about 3D so no idea how many of those. I pretty much use them all, as my tracking system indicates all but 4 were used in the last 12 months. I would never think about parting with any! A few have been taped across the hinge for added support.
Themes are whatever I like LOL - hopefully I have them all!

I have about 40 folders and probably 6 3D. Some days they feel like wasted space and some days I use them a lot. I tend to emboss a lot of scraps so I have a drawer full to choose from when needed for smaller projects, as well as a section of A2 base size for cards of my most used folders and colors. I'm not a person that likes to drag my big shot out for only 1 or 2 rubs.

What a great idea to store some with coordinating stamp sets!

This poll is giving me some great tips! Embossing scraps and card fronts for future projects…good idea!

Hang on Gaylestamps.......you have a system that tells you what you use??? I want to hear about that!!!
I am liking the idea of doing scraps too!
A regular machine should be fine with 3Ds. You might just not use one plate and use a piece of cardboard instead or something. Play with it. Varies. I label the folder when I do a swatch. They are not all the same.
I love EFs...they give you a great result with minimal effort. You can make stationary with the right ones easily for gifts....so cool looking with a paste buffing....so many thing to do! Sigh. This wont be easy.

I am wondering what you use for your tracking system. Sounds like a great thing to be doing.

Well, sort of. I use the Notes function on my tablet to type/copy/paste all those pesky details when I upload to SCS - so I pretty much log everything twice BECAUSE:
I also have permanent Notes for several categories including Stamps, Punches, Dies and Embossing Folders. These lists are in alphabetical order (and each folder is labeled) and I have the last-used date beside each item. This is a much simplified explanation but I am sure you understand. After I upload then I update - then I put things away.
On occasion I run through my lists and decide which are neglected so I can correct that situation. The goal is to use it or lose it.
Admittedly it took a while when I was setting this up (about 2013) but maintaining is easy - just add new purchases or mark as SOLD so I won’t be looking for it. Believe me, it took longer to write this than it does to update my system.
Several have suggested different tracking apps, but I don’t “do” apps LOL. Would rather be crafting.

Over a hundred.
Very mixed - floral, geometric, frames.
I've purged a couple and miss them, so now I just keep them all except I can't fit any more in the available space unless I do purge.
Very few are stand-alone "scene" type.
The earlier Cuttlebug ones are less useful to me because they are strictly US A2, so too short for a standard metric base. I like the larger sizes so have quite a lot of squares and 7"X 5".
I have 89, according to my Excel spreadsheet (if I've updated it with any current purchases, that is). And like shawnmarieo, most of mine are the "background" type, so can be used with just about any theme.
:-)

Yikes, im afraid to count them! I really need to downsize them, but when I pull them out and look at them, I just can’t part with them. Maybe this summer, I’ll be more serious about going through them. I’ve found a great new home for them and any other crafty supplies. There is a family at church who homeschools their 4 adopted kids. They love to craft and use supplies I send. Makes me feel good to pass them on!

I counted ~ I have 79. That's not too bad considering I started collecting them when the Cuttlebug machine came out : ) About 12 of those are the 3D type.

I didn't think I had very many, since the footprint they take up is small, but I counted and was surprised: 1 3D folder, 2 squares, 20 5" x 7", 67 A2, 12 borders, and 16 small. No theme seems dominant, but my favorites tend to be overall patterns like damask or swirls or Swiss dots...
I have approximately 125 in all, ranging in size from borders to smalls to 3” wide to A2 to 6x6 to 5x7. Mostly “background” type themes that work well for multiple purposes. Separated by sizes in baskets I can easily flip through. All my 6x6 and 5 x7 are labeled and in alphabetical order. I need to do that someday with my A-2 sized folders. I started collecting long ago with Provocraft and Cuttlebug brands, so it will take some research to find the names of all of them. Every folder has been used. They provide such an easy textured background to any project!
Okay, for grins and giggles, I counted them. In my Evernote I have about 6 listed, but I KNOW that wasn't correct...so I counted.
I have129 total in one of the Elfa X-Narrow 2 runner drawers. (the Mesh drawers from the Container Store.)
I did use embossing folders for my holiday cards in December, 2022, so YEY for them being not forgotten!

Thanks for chiming in. I feel better now. Whew. I thought I was going to see everyone had 20 or less.
Don't feel bad estamps. I had the same type of discovery and here I am. It is very easy to get a lot of something. What matters is are you using them?
I have pulled 22 so far. More need to go. Kills me. Totally good folders but enough is enough. Esp if I want to get new ones.
Thank you Gayle for sharing how you do that. Often true that an explanation can take longer than the doing of a thing. And huge thank you for posting your supply lists with your cards-I often look for those.

About 130, its been an addiction for a while but itis finally cooling! I have embossed each on an index card and numbered and hung on a ring just to find a particular design and use easier.
I counted! I have 169 but I counted the ones that have multiples like borders in a set as one. I really need to purge some but you never know when you need that "exact" one. I have all different brands - just buy what catches my eye or is on sale.
I store them alphabetically in a plastic media box but have outgrown that and added more plastic storage containers.

Current count is 113. I love adding texture and experimenting with new techniques. I have been collecting them for years, but they were woften ignored until the past yeaer I would say. I like the 2D for backgrounds when I am adding other pieces that I would raher be the focus, and 3D when the embossing is the focus. I did send a few on to other homes recently, but I don't tink I will be downsizing any more for awhile.

I have about 30 of the A2 size and six of the 6x6. Most of these are from years ago (I just got back into cardmaking after taking a long break) and am anxious to get some newer ones. So many beautiful ones out there for backgrounds...
I counted and couldn't believe it! 105, all in a plastic refrigerator bin. I love them and have them ready on my desk. Should I be embarrassed? Probably. I started with the Cuttlebug one Swiss Dots. You too?

I stopped counting at 115 and that is just A2 size. I own several that take a special plate to emboss, are very thick so only one plate and a few labeled 3D. Those are in a separate container that I didn't take out and count. I have mine separate by company and size. They are all in Rubbermaid containers with a lid. These are small containers and the lid has a handle. I can't remember the name of the container and it is upstairs, so it is more than just turn and look. I love to emboss! The Swiss Dots was my first folder and still the most used one.
I would have over 100 (I stopped counting). For some reason, I stopped using embossing folders and now I can't get enough of them - it's like a wonderful voyage of discovery. I guess they stopped being on-trend and now they are popular especially the 3D ones. I am still amazed at how much they add to a card.
I probably have more florals than other ones but they are ones that give an overall repeating pattern rather than for example, a rose in the corner or a bunch of flowers. I also have (to my surprise) alot of different types of dot patterns. Swiss dots has always been a favourite. It is interesting that my Sympathy cards made primarily with embossing folders have been the most-pinned of my cards on Pinterest.
I recently bought some 3D embossing folders as I saw someone on You-Tube run their alcohol ink backgrounds though their embossing machine and then sand it to reveal the pattern - and it looked AMAZING!

oooooooo......alcohol inks...sanding....another thing to try!
Rebaldi- NO. Don't be embarrassed. As you can see that is not an uncommon number.
The cuttlebug swiss dots...is that the "big dots" one? I have that. They are not actually that big. Or was it called specifically swiss dots?

It is called Swiss Dots. It is small dots. Recently Gina K made a folder that is similar as she always used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder in her videos.
I just counted. 42 My question to everyone, how do you store your folders? I have mine standing in a box. Yet, I have read they should be stored in folders. Help
