Jeannine, I love your watercoloured card. Enjoyed looking through more of your gallery too!
Well, as often happens to me, I boxed myself into a silly corner. I decided to use the SU or SCS tutorials to do something with punches. The only thing I found that I hadn't tried already was the dahlia fold flowers. So I made some. And couldn't figure out what to do with them...even going through the galleries didn't really inspire me. However, I had done one in More Mustard DSP, which reminded me of a card I made a while ago, and it all came together as a progressive scrapbook page. Only trouble is, the only SU stuff is the DSP and the punches! Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.
Now, I think that some of you clever punch art people need to do up a tutorial for Splitcoast...
And I shall loosen up a bit, and follow some of the links provided to blogs etc to learn a bit more.
Have a great day, everyone.
Glad you liked my card and gallery! I am trying to add to it several times a week. More items on my blog.
I'm not near my craft cave so I'm not sure on the dimensions...if no one beats me to it, I'll check and let you know....BUT
I wanted to say that the SU block are worth checking out! They are fab-u-lous. They are thicker than most and grooved on all four sides and easy to hold. AND this is most important...I've heard talk of our stamps not sticking well to non-su blocks. Just wanted to mention that. I know that they are a bit pricey to purchase all at once but I would definitely recommend them! You can always buy one or two when you can and then you'll eventually have them! Again, just wanted to point these things out! Let us all see what you make!!!!!
Hi ... did you have the opportunity to measure that large floral image from Elements of Style for me to see if it will fit on my 4" x 6" block?

Presto Patterns Specialty paper- wow, that looks really fun to play with. A few cards in this gallery: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers Patterns Specialty paper
Who else has used it? Going to order it?
I love the new summer mini- lots of neat things in there.
I have Presto Patterns paper but I havent used it yet. It *looks* super cool and I cant wait to play with it. I believe somewhere (maybe on the demo side) someone said that the paper with the writing on it was lines or quotes from A Midsummer Nights Dream...maybe? I swear I saw that somewhere so I will try to find it for sure...but thats pretty cool!
Yep, just found the thread on demo forum. So any Shakespear fans out there, a sheet of the paper in there has quotes from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
I am planning on getting the presto patterns and am pretty excited for it. I love "resist" type techniques in general and I think this paper will be really fun. I'm not sure about the smooch spritz though. I would have to try that first before I decided that I want it. For now I'll stick to brayering and my favorite, sponging, on the presto patterns.
The first card on the first set of cards uses one of my favorite stamps...Elements of Style. I paired Dusty Durango, Brocade Blue and Kiwi Kiss together and I like how it turned out. I used gold smooch spritz on the stamped part but you cant tell in the pic. The gold smooch spritz looks awesome!
The last card on the second set of cards uses the Awash With Flowers, which will be in the new catty coming out in July. I was *eh* about this stamp set but you could earn it free in April with a qualifying workshop so I got it and I actually liked using it. It is fun with bright, vibrant colors and outlined in black. Really pops! This is just one of the flowers in that set.
The first card and last card on the third set of cards use single stamps from the mini....the graduation one and the motorcyle one. Both are really great single stamps and I am sure glad I got them. I think the Happy Graduation one looks really nice and it is cute when paired up with a "cap". I made the cap by cutting a 2" square piece of cardstock, scoring it at 1/4" on all sides, folding those under and gluing down. I made the tassel out of white 1/4" grosgrain ribbon. I tied it in kind of a knot with both ends hanging out and a loop at the top. Then I trimmed the binding edges off the sides of the ribbon hanging out, up to the knot. Then you just pull the ribbon apart to create the long hanging threads. I attached it to the cap with a blue brad. I popped it up with dimensionals so it looked 3-D.
The motorcycle stamp is really realistic and nice looking. Great for guy cards of biking people...its very cool!! It would look great embossed also.
The ink was sponged on the background page and brayered on the diamond pattern one, and then I added a splash of Log Cabin Smooch Spray on it. I am going to have fun exploring the possibilities with this product.

Very cool! Can't wait to get my hands on this stuff tomorrow!
Kelly and Cindy, thanks so much to both of you for sharing your work.
I've been avoiding that smooch stuff, but you people do so many neat things with it!
I love the "smooch stuff"!! It is so pretty and I was surprised at first by how quickly it dried (basically instantly). It really makes the cardstock sparkle in a stunning way. I can see lots of people LOVING this new option and though it would look great on any number of projects, I could see brides going ga-ga over it for wedding invites & other coordinating projects.
So far I just have the Vanilla (wanted to try one first), but I'm definitely going to get more of the Vanilla and perhaps one of each of the other colors too! It's a pretty affordable way to get a lot of new options and add WOW to cards, plus it doesn't add bulk which can be nice for mailing.
How do I get my eyelet border punch to punch correctly? I have only had it about 6 months and have only used it about ten times. It won't make a pretty clean punch with paper or cardstock. Thanks for your help.

You throw it against the wall and then ump up and down on it... just kidding ... try putting it in the freezer for about 15 minutes, sometimes shrinking the metal helps or try punching some tin foil to sharpen it. If all fails call DS and see what they say because sometimes you just get a bad punch.
I can't wait to see the new July 2010 SU catalog. I hope they will put more embossing folders in this catalog and have all the stamps (even the older ones they have kept) available in clear. What do you wish for ?

thanks, i have never heard of the freezer thing. i will try it.
I got out my 'Dream Gardens' set (that's the one with the sillouettes including a lady in a kimono, holding a fan). I can't believe I haven't used it yet, I really fell in love with the set as soon as I saw it, but didn't order it for quite a while. Anyway, I now have it. I was looking at the strip stamp in the set and noticed a writing symbol on the lower right corner. Does anyone know what that says? I'd like to know so that I use it in a suitable way.
Elaine, I noticed no one has answered your question posted. I don't know what that character/writing says, however if you still do not have the answer, I'm happy to ask some friends to find out for you. BTW - Very GOOD eye there, catching that in the corner of that one stamp. Don't know how many times I've looked at that stamp set, and yet somehow I didn't notice that.

No, I still don't know what it says. It would be great ifyou could find out!

After giving the Vanilla a whirl, I decided to try the silver smooch spritz. I tried it on Basic Black and it looked great!! It was so elegant, like a starry night. Almost all of my Stamp Club friends bought it after playing with it and seeing how easy it was to make something so impressive looking!

Welcome to the thread. Feel free to hop in and tell us what you are making. Posting pix is good if you do that.
Today I did a bunch of the Diagonal Double Pocket Card because I need to use up a lot of DSP, I made the mistake one year of buying a lot in the year-end clearance and even have some unopened packages.
I usually don't like to a bunch of something, but this one didn't bother me, I didn't get bored and want to leave the rest unmade. When I'm done I'll take a group photo to post. They'll be handy to have on hand to tuck a giftcard in one pocket and a tag greeting in the other.
I would definitely enjoy a SU only discussion group. I'm not a demo, but mainly use their products.
Exactly what she said! LOL I belong to a SU stamp club and we meet once a month. I just got my new catty from my demo last night and can't quit looking at it!
Have a good day girls!

Hi, jennmoore3. Welcome to this thread. It's the closest thing to a dedicated SU area that we can get on splitcoast. There is a lot of ideas posted already, so you can take a look back through the thread to see what we've already talked about. But feel free to bring things up again if you want, there are always new people joining in. There is a different website that has SU only stuff, but I find it's not very busy although it's good. If you're interested, send me a message and I'll give you the URL.
oh boy, like I need to be on this site more than I already am... I'm going to have to read the entire thing, now. lol I thought it was just the poll saying yes we want one, so I didn't read anything. lol Thanks!

Trina, thanks for your links. That Early Espresso is certainly a dark dark brown, isn't it? It looks almost black. I like your 'one-sheet wonder' sets. I'm still plugging away at doing the double pocket cards to use up more of that DP I have hoarded away.
And yes the Early Expresso is really dark! But I really like it. (My photos never do my cards justice, I really should learn how to do better card photography some time.) But the color is very rich and lovely to work with!
