Yeah, the length of the list is a little bit of a shocker at first. But honestly, I barely used most of those. And the totally fun and fresh new colors we're getting--and the sneak peek of the next set of In Colors--more than make up for it, IMO.
Pruning dead branches makes for a stronger, healthier tree in the long run... although the poor tree probably thinks it's dying when the gardener starts snipping! LOL
I'm also really looking forward to reorganizing my stamp space. I think it will be totally reinvigorating. Spring is the perfect time for a "wardrobe" update!

I had to chuckle...you've never seen my hubby prune trees...when he gets the chainsaw out I swear I can see them try to up root and run LOL
I've returned papers before in a Priority Flat Rate box - they fit just nicely in there and I think it cost $9.95 and weighed around 4lbs - I had to eat up the shipping cost but it wasnt too bad considering you can fit a bunch in there and it doesnt matter how much it weighs...
My husband also suggested to me that I could use a flat rate box and I do have some here, but my problem is that all of the card stock that I purchased won't fit in it. Perhaps a large size flat rate box, I don't have any of those here.
But anyway I've decided to keep what I have and I'll buy the new colors when I can.
I was secretly hoping that SU's news was going to be a new set of markers similar to the copics that everyone raves about. I think I do pretty well coloring with my SU markers, but when I'm coloring a larger image I can't seem to color without the streak marks. Does anyone have a suggestions for better coloring with our SU markers?
Love those, Kelly. What adhesive do you use to attach your paper to the metal boards?
I used my "go to" adhesive of the Mono Multi glue that SU sells in the white and green bottle. I think sticky strip would also work very well tho. SNAIL or glue sticks probably wouldnt hold, I would think.
I used the Crystal Effects to glue the magnets to the flowers tho.
I used the CropADile to punch holes thru the metal. The metal is actually roofing flash sheets that are 5x7. I bought them at Menards. They cannot be the aluminum ones, they have to be the metal. They were only about $2.50 for a package of 10.
They are fun to make and I think I am actually going to plan a class around them and a box of cards with the punch art bee and cute sayings such as "Happy Bee Day" and "Bee Happy" and BEE-utiful BaBEE". The manet board will say "Buzzworthy News". =)
Anyone else starting a list of cool things from this thread that they want to try when they get a minute this summer? lol
Hmmmm...not at the moment, although I should get myself to try and make some more 3d projects or something other than cards. I was really big into scrapbooking a few years ago, but now I sort of got away from it, I guess because it's always such a big job for me and cards are quicker.
As long as you are here I thought I would ask you about my SU markers. I love my markers, and I'm trying to learn how to color better with them. Somtimes I have a hard time getting them to not be so streaky. Any tips on how I can get them to blend a little better? When coloring a larger area do you color using little circles or back n forth motions?
I wondering if they are just getting old. I've had them ever since I started stamping about 5 years ago. The tips are good yet and not worn or frayed (well on some of them they were, but I have since replaced those).

I found this tutorial a while back and found it VERY helpful! I struggle with watercoloring - most of the time I am happy just to have stayed in the lines, but this talented lady makes it look easy!!!
I usually go over the image a couple of times with the color. It makes it more concentrated and the lines blend better. You can also paint right off the tip of your marker with an Aquapainter if you want even more control.
You'd want to use a high quality ultrasmooth cardstock like Whisper White for this, as the cheaper fibrous kind would just pill and tear.

Thanks to both of you for your help. I'm off to check out the link.
I already do sometimes go back over my image, but you are correct it does become more concentrated. I'll have to try using my aquapainter, I never thought to try that.

Kimberlym, THANK YOU for the link to that great tutorial! To tell the truth, I've been very basic in what I do with my markers. This looks like something worth while to practice.
I'm also really looking forward to reorganizing my stamp space. I think it will be totally reinvigorating. Spring is the perfect time for a "wardrobe" update!
I started the cleaning process yesterday and spent a few hours this afternoon. This color renovation definitely inspired me to start cleaning house. I'm planning to have a big scrapbook sale after July 1. I have soooo much stuff I never use. So far, I have 3 large boxes filled with paper, ribbons, brads, buttons, stamps, Cuttlebug, cards, you name it! It feels so good to start going through it all. I won't put any of my SU stuff in the pile until it gets closer, so I can keep using it.
For those concerned about the cost of buying the new things... SU is putting together some different bundles of products for demos and customers to help with this transition. There are quite a few different options, so I think people will be happily surprised. I don't think I'm going to be able to part with any of my ink pads, though... just in case!
Spring cleaning,...anyone unmounting??? Now that SU is comming out with out wood I'm working on my odd stamps. Am going to get a bunch of the new cases for my SU sets and start with my discontinued sets. The space is amazing. Had been really limiting myself,... which is not bad but with space wow!!!
We watercolored with ink and markers at a workshop a couple of weeks ago and it turned out beautifully. I don't have the Aquapainters, so at home I use a paintbrush and water. Watercolor paper is definitely a necessity!

I was considering unmounting my sets as well, but my husband talked me out of it. I'm so used to my wood mount stamps and he thinks I might be sorry if I unmount them. I love how space saving it is, but I'm not too sure if I would like taking the stamps off of the acrylic blocks all of the time. KWIM?
I think it's great that SU is offering unmounted stamps now for those of you who like them.

Blush... not necessarily pictures, but I am trying to find a pleasant way to remind people that the thread is about what you make with your stuff. Without becoming the thread Nazi...yoiks, I feel like I walk a razor wire, hehe.
watercolor crayons by a large margin. The crayons are more forgiving than the other two - if you put it on too dark you can wash it off not perfectly but a big reduction.
Hope this helps

Speaking of watercoloring, which do you guys use more? Watercolor pencils, crayons or ink?
I like my crayons much better, mostly because I have all of the colors as opposed to the pencils. Sometimes I'll water color with my ink pads, but that seems to only work well for me when I'm using water color paper.
A question on the water coloring of stamped images with SU supplies... when you put on the colors - do you always just outline the image with colors and then draw the color in with a water brush? Are there other ways to do this?
I tend to get way too much color on my stamped image by the time i am done. But then I have been lightly coloring the image and doing the shading with colors and THEN use the water brush... not very good at this.
Any advice would be appreciated. I LOVE coloring with pencils... but can't seem to get the water color technique down good.

I haven't done a lot of water colouring. But usually I scribble some of the crayon onto a palette (like a margarine lid or the top of a stamp box) and then pick up colour with my wet brush to fill in the image. Or I do the same thing with markers. I ususally use watercolour paper. Some people are soooooooooo good at watercolouring.

You can also do with with vellum. I have some old cheap vellum I got a long time ago. SO I cut off squares and scribble then pick up the ink from there. Works well!

I only do one color at a time. I start from the outside of the image, color that in and blend, then I move to the next (lighter) color and do the same thing. This helps me to get the shading to look more smooth. When I've tried to put all my color on and then shade, I tend to blend the colors together instead of shading.
All this talk about watercoloring has me wondering--what SU sets are everyone's fave for that technique? I bought Peace Within for that purpose, but it's so detailed I don't find myself using it very often for shows because of the time it takes to color.

I meant to take pics of my bee cards this weekend but forgot! I will try to remember to do that tonight bee-cause they bee adorable!! he he
I just received my EE and BB watercolor crayons a couple of days ago so I havent had time to play with them yet but plan on it. So far for my watercoloring I mostly use the markers and sometimes reinkers.
I like the chair from Peace Within and I also like the set that we had last year in the mini (cant think of name right now) but it was the apples in the box, with a hat and gloves there...and a puppy in a boot....and a box of tools. That one is fun to color!
It's interesting to find out how to use the techniques to get even more artistry in our projects.
Anybody up for a simple personal project? Go either to the Stampin' Up! or the Splitcoast techniques sites, choose something you've never tried before or haven't done for a long long time, and make a new card. Make it SU only. Tell us about it and post links.

Okay , Kelly, I think you have inspired me to try some kind of a punch art card. Your bees are so cute! That is something new for me. I know there are lots of people who do really fun things with them.
Thanks Ladies!
Elaine, you will love making the bee punch art...its addictive! LOL
Let me know if you need any directions on what punch is what on the card.
They are all very nice! Especially liked the bee card with the red dotted swiss and the bee card in the flowers! I will have to make a bee card very soon! Put them into favorites!!!
This is my first time on this side of the boards in a long time! I just uploaded a watercolor card using watercolor wonder crayons and Bloomin' Beautiful. It is SUO (Stampin' Up! Only) and CAS (Clean and Simple). Hope you like it.
