You ever have one of those days when you should NOT look at the fave thread? While I was astounded and saved a lot of the beautiful cards from this week, I was also lower than a snake in the grass (I love that saying).
Sometimes I get very inspired; other times, I think, "argh....I will never get this good" when looking at a particular beauty. Case in point, WAXYO's incredible spring card .
I was amazed at the masking she must have done. Look how straight her letters are. This looks like a professional card! (a professional, handmade card!!). First, I don't think I would have thought of this; 2nd, while I might have the patience, I don't think I could mask well enough to get it looking so crisp and clean.
WAXYO is AMAZING.
Sigh. Just one of those 'green with envy' card days.;)
I'll get over it!! Wait until I upload my no-stamp card today. You'll be oohing and aahing over it!!
WOW! Thanks for sharing the pic. This card is amazing and makes me green (with envy). There are some really talented people out there and this is an example of one of them.
Yup right there with you! There are so many outragously talented artist on SCS that I know if I posted one of mine it would look like my 1 year old did it. Not to say that I don't enjoy creating my projects jthey just would never look as good as theirs does.
What a totally flattering thread you've started...thank you for the pick-me-up!
That particular card was a work of heart...I received several PMs after posting it asking me where they could *buy* the "spring" stamp...ha ha ha!
Masking is one of my favorite techniques - except that you have to think about 8 steps ahead so that you don't accidentally cover up a space that was supposed to be stamped with something else! I played around quite a bit before I took a deep breath and started on the real thing - I should also have posted my first attempt as it wan't pretty!
One little trick that I'll share: on this card, I stamped the black letters with Jet Black Stazon - and then filled in any white space that my ink missed with a black artist pen...this makes the masking look perfect and gives you a little room for goofs. If you haven't tried masking, I seriously would - you'll look at your stamps in a whole new way (just ask kittie747)!
I think the true compliment here should be paid to Anna Wight, whose images I was using - she is truly an artist and amazes me every day with her whimisical, classic designs. To have THAT kind of talent - now that's something entirely different!
I too know what you mean, I have felt that way many times. I try not to think about it in that way so that I don't put myself in a funk. Tho I must say I LOVE your cards I have many in my favorites and your Ship Ahoy!! card is one of my all time favorite cards and I am surprised to hear you feel the way I sometimes feel, for me you are one of those stampers that I feel I will never be as good as. So maybe it's just all in our head.. we always like some body elses creations more than our own!
