Sell for free.
Avoid the fees ;)
The intention is for ShopHandmade.com to remain essentially free, but to have a few premium services available to help pay the bills.
No need to buy any of the premium stuff, really.
There is a 25-cent fee for listing. Don't pay it: Choose Addicted To Rubber Stamps or Addicted To Scrapbooking as a sponsor and they will pay us. Really. It keeps our lights on. It's an "internal-accounting" funny-money sort of thing.
We have a sales commission: Pay whatever you want to pay us. 0% is just fine. No tricks. If you want to pay us 12% like eBay charges for selling then you can enter that, too. It helps pay the bills and the ads, but it's completely optional. Its your choice.
We believe in rainforests. If you want to contribute 10-cents or 25-cents then that's heavenly. But pay nothing and we'll still protect 25 square feet with every item sold. Free.
And as for the Galleries:
PLEASE don't overbid. Really,
you don't need to be in a gallery. Things are selling just fine for non-Gallery listings. If you want to be featured then bid low...you will probably get in for a 2-cent bid right now. But the Galleries are not required to sell items.
Addicted to Rubber Stamps really really wants us to remain free for their customers--hopefully forever. Our costs are low, our software is recycled. They just want to reward their customers. As long as their customers appreciate and use ShopHandmade.com they will cover our bills. It is that simple.
