The 50% off an item was (intended for) HOSTESSES. It's part of the benefits of hostessing a funshop (or an order totalling $100 or more) . She didn't need to be a demo to be able to get this, it's available to all customers.
It's not like she was going to be buying whatever she wanted at half off and
she can still purchase the "big ticket" items with her demo discount (30%).

None of us Angels are thrilled with this announcement, but I personally am not surprised that it eventually came to this. Just surprised at the timing.
All that said, please don't jump the gun and quit already. I think you'll find TAC is great and the other benefits of being an Angel far outweigh this particular topic. They didn't take 50% completely away from our hostesses, and the plan is still very generous.
In my 4+ years as an Angel, I've seen things change and Angels get up in arms, but everything seems to smooth over and work out in the end.

Secondly ... if the only reason you signed up was to get big ticket items at 50% off, I'd say you signed up for the wrong reason. You only have yourself to be mad at.
This is hilarious! Thank you all for entertaining me today! It gave me a good laugh at work. I would suggest to the people that are sensitive to the language to mind your own posts and let the lady vent. It's probably the safest suggestion. Thanks for getting the discussion going, anyway. i AM SO PISSED. I joined the Angel company yesterday hoping to get all the big items for half off. So today they announce, that after July 15th AFter the catalog is printed, that we can only get the stamps and papers and brads for half off. NO bind it all, NO Scor pal no big stuff like that!!
I am canceling today. I dont need the headache. They should have did this before the catalog was printed, then i wouldnt have signed up to begin with.
Due to the continuous price increases and fuel surcharges vendors are implementing, The Angel Company� must address our Half Price Item and Booking Item issues immediately due to the incredibly large loss the company faces as a result of these continuous price increases.
Effective July 15 Hostess Half Price Items and Hostess Booking Items may only be redeemed on rubber stamps and TAC� papers or kits. Additionally, please note that a hostess must have $75.00 or more in commissionable sales in order to be eligible to receive the Booking Bonus Item.

This is so damm stupid, I could have signed up with CTMH. ****** I knew it!! I should have listened to my instincts! I just wasted 150.00 on a kit I dont want or need. And now they wont refund my shipping!
what is the booking item? i'm a demo, a new one, and i have no idea what this is!

Well I don't sell to anyone other than myself, and I have to admit I'm a little disappointed, because sometimes getting those big items for half off is really great, but in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal to me.
Because you have to FIRST put in a $100 order, and then buy the item at half off, it got kind of expensive. So this past year I've been using big items to make up that $100 then getting a $20 stamp set half off. After all- it's not really savings if you spent more than you wanted to in the first place, right? (And I tell DH that I only meet my minimums, but anytime I take a 50% off item, that's passed my minimums... so I guess I'm stretching the truth* a bit.)
I still think TAC's hostess benefits are good when compared to other companies. For hostesses who do not have their own order count towards their party, I think the percent off items (20% up to a dollar amount, 50% off items) are really fantastic. A discount on everything is much better than a couple dollars free. For large customer direct orders, thats where I think companies like SU have us beat- when you spent the $100 yourself to make a party, then percent off isn't that great.
I think it's insane that they did this a week after the catalog was released, but understand why they did. I also think the OP over reacted a bit, and joined TAC for the wrong reason (actually- why did you join TAC for the 50% discount. That's not a demo benefit, that's a hostess one. There is not additional commission on these items). Guess only time will tell how the total customer base reacts.
*Not lying- because he does know what I spend and what the minimums are. I'm just fooling myself I think.

And I imagined a LOT worse because it was edited, lol!
Actually the biggest problem is they changed it right AFTER. So most angels have sent out new catalogues with letters detailing all the hostess programs, and now have to retract them all.
Having done it right before would have made sense.
Here's some big news for anyone that has been following this thread. TAC posted a change in the new 1/2 price policy this morning. Just goes to show that TAC really cares and listens to their demos!
This new Hostess Half Price Program supersedes the Half Price Item update we posted yesterday.
Effective July 15, 2008, the Hostess Half Price Program will operate as follows:
For FUNshop Net Sales between:
• $100-249.99 hostesses may select 1 half price item from any item in our current catalogue.
• $250-499.99 hostesses may select 2 half price items from any items in our current catalogue.
• $500-749.99 hostesses may select 3 half price items from any items in our current catalogue.
•$750 and above hostesses may select 4 half price items from any items in our current catalogue.
The Booking Bonus Half Price Item is being eliminated and will no longer be available on any order beginning July 15, 2008.
I think THIS is why I love TAC so much, they really do listen to us!
While this is an unexpected hiccup we are thrilled with this solution and we continue to believe that “where there’s a will ~ there’s a way!” By working together with our Angels we continue to move in the right direction! These times that we have all faced lately have been difficult but together we can find solutions that work for everyone and share the economic hardships and meet our customers half-way!

Check with the company and see if there is an amount of time that you have to cancel...Maybe they will let you back out since it was just yesterday...dont know the rules but since you are so upset I would think the phone call to the people who can actually do something for you would be helpful....they really are reasonable people...no matter when they made this decision someone would have been upset. That's the way life works....cant make everyone happy all of the time ;)

Maybe being a demo for any company isn't for you...I know you recently left SU. Maybe you would be happier as a customer?? Being a demo can be very frustrating at times. Maybe you should take a breather for a few days and really hammer out if demoship for any company is for you. Do what makes you happy. Getting upset over something like this in the whole scheme of life isn't worth it. Best of luck to you in your decision!

I think this is brilliant. Because the way it was, with no min for the "booking item" at half price I know lot of orders were being done that were tiny orders then a huge half price item because the demo would key it as a "party" so it got a "booking item" and so it would be half price.
Do you see what I mean? I'm sure it's clear as mud.
So I think this is a really good solution. Keep it on all items, but make it with a min purchase. I think that's VERY fair.
I still think it's better to do a policy change with the new catalog, not after it comes out, but I think this is a better way.

I would suggest if you just sent paperwork in yesterday or today and are truly unhappy, thenyou ask for a refund. Given the sudden notice of the announcement, and that you just sent paperwork in, they should work with you.
Isn't there a 3-day right to cancel? If you just signed up yesterday - cancel!

It's nothing personal- it's business.
But this just goes to show you what a human personal company that TAC is- they listened to their angels and came up with an alternative plan.
That totally rocks in my estimation!
I just popped over to say the same thing...I am soooo glad to be a demo for a company that listens to us as Angels and is willing to change their policy instead of being staunch and not caring just because they already announced it.

How great that a compromise was reached! I hope the OP has a chance to read about this before doing anything drastic... And kudos to TAC for their consideration!
I still don't understand why they didn't wait until the next catalog to do this, so the CORRECT INFORMATION WOULD BE IN THE CATALOG! I think that handing a catalog out to a potential customer, letting her see the current (til July 15) hostess benefits, and then having to tell her that those are no longer the case, will leave a real sour taste in her mouth. It would in mine, anyway. I am GLAD for the adjustment in the policy, and think it is a GOOD thing for them to do, but the timing is awful and I am glad I am only a hobby demo...
