Someone on a UK craft forum I belong to has found a set of rings in the back of a drawer that she bought ages ago in America but can't remember for the life of her why! She has no idea what they are for or why she might have wanted them, and noone else on our forum knows either. I have put a pic up in my gallery (sorry, not clever enough to post a link here!) so if any of you can put her out of her misery please look and advise!
I looked in your gallery, but couldn't find one with rings. Are they like a key ring? The only thing that came to my mind for rings was when I did macrame(sp) in the 70's.
SCC have deleted my upload cos it isn't "stamped" ! OK, a description: a set of metallic rings, bangle size, slim torus shaped (ie doughnut) - some silver some ?bronze. They are not solid/continuous; there is break or fastening. Any ideas?
How to:
Make the size of the picture a bit smaller.

I have seen these used to make scrapbook albums, but using a smaller size. By your discription this is what I think you mean. Here is a pic of what I'm thinking of. Is this it.

a while back, some were putting their ribbon (off the roll) into little zip lock baggies and puncing a hole at the top and then attaching them to the larger rings so they could hang on a hook for easy ribbon access.
Thanks for those ideas ...but I think that unless it would be a really realy big scrapbook, they're too big for that- they really are wrist bangle size! They also seem a bit big and solid for just hanging bags?
Curtain rings? Shower rings? I wonder if they fell into the "I should be able to do something with this" category? I have a whole box of things like that, totally unrelated to papercraft, cards or anything else.
Hmmmm........... still a mystery!! They do look a bit like shower curtain rings because of the way the ends snap together. But at Michael's? That doesn't compute.
They do look like shower curtain rings. I can't think of anything you would use them for in stamping, but crafting....hmmmm, could be used to make miniature dream catchers, could be used at the back of a garland of flowers that would go around someone's head, that long ribbons could hang off of (think renaissance faire). Those are two things that come to mind. I don't think that Michael's sells shower curtain rings...
Well I rather lean towards Makaren's idea - the "ooh now what can I do with those" moment that goes out of your head the minute you get the stuff home.... Somebody at home has suggested dreamcatchers but they're not really an English sort of thing...I really thought you American crafters would be going "Oh yeah, they're ***** of course" !
Dodging between forums I have just found somebody here (UK) has suggested they are sample rings for, whatever, card, fabrics, etc. This seems the most likely yet! All I can say is thank you all for your help - and thank you so much GarnetJ for telling me how to upload an attachment - you learn something every day!

Makaren
I have several boxes like that in my basement. (Some for card making, some for general crafts and one just for crafts with cubscouts.)
The bronze colored ones look like shower curtain hangers to me.
The silver ones? I have used ones like those to put my cardstock swatches on - I have laminated samples of all the SU colors and put on one of those silver rings.
Yup, I reckon swatch rings is the favourite here. I shall tell my forum colleague and it might jog her memory as to why she bought them in the first place!
Except for the part about being metal, they look like the plastic rings I used to 'thread' beading lace on to make wreaths. There were candy canes too, to weave back and forth with beading lace to look like lacy wreaths and candy canes - tree/package decorations.
