Wonderful idea!
I showed it to my son and told him that when he buys a house, I expect him to make me a Mother's Home out back, using this floor plan!
Cool! So we'll have a place to play on the west coast too!

I think there needs to be room in the bathroom for a sauna and hot tub...and a place for a massage table so my DIL can come over and not have to haul hers with her.
I'll sacrifice a little of the craft room space to have those amenities.

But I LOVE those south-facing windows!!!!!
Diane, no need to sacrifice craft space. I've decided to do away with the kitchen... and install Keurigs and vending machines.

My sweet Texas sis has something like ths...3300 sq foot of mostly craft space, a die cut room with lots of different die cutters and every die company there is...dont get me started on paper and stamps. All the storage is custom built. Little slide out drawers built especially for 6 x 6 pads and a built in that is taller than I am when you open it, it is all kids of ink pads in their own little cubies. The designs in her craft cottage are amazing. She put a lot of thought into it.

HAHAHA...I'm with Lydia. I would just like to do away with the kitchen and maybe just put a refrigerator in the craft room so I can have my Diet Dr. Pepper, WITH caffeine, of course. Just think of all I could accomplish in there.

 O...M....Goodness! A dedicated die room???
I'll pay rent to live there!!!! I'll bring my own inflatable mattress.
I may have to divorce my DH and marry your sister Amber. LMAO.
This just goes to prove there is a real need for a retirement home for crafters.

I think you've hit on something there! I could have more units built based on my plans - we could have our own little community. One unit to be used as a communal kitchen - that way, no kitchens would be needed in the individual units. Wheels are turning...

The craft cottage had 2 bedrooms and baths plus a beautiful kitchen. There is toom f9r 8 people. She has beautiful stations set up. Everything you need is there. The last time I was there, the day I left she git a huge new Big Shot cutter that weighs 44 lbs. When I go to visit we stay in the craft cottage watch movies, eat, and make cards. She told me she is already planning an addition. I was a litte shocjed but she does like to buy everything....lol

Make it a single level ring of units with a pool and bbq in the middle and some gardening space on the outside and I am good to go!
While we are doing the plan...we get cleaning people and a good cook. Oh, and a media room for the DHs to go watch sports or whatever.
I may joke about leaving DH but in truth, I couldnt. I can however very easily "park" him for the day! LOLOL
We need a name for it Linda...Creative Meadows...something better than that.
Wow Amber. Is she a demo? It sounds like she has downline come to stay. Best part is you guys get to have amazing sister time there! That's way cool!
No she isnt a demo. It is usually only her and one other person. Sometimes when I go there are three of us...it is on the property near her new home being built now.....complete with pool...!
I dont know why she is building a house Amber. Well I guess she has to put family somewhere. LOL
I've always heard they go big in TX, but I figured that was just Hollywood type overstatement. I know NYC apts are not nearly as nice as they look in the movies-esp the old movies. Unless you want to spend a lot of zeroes on the few there are in the old buildings.
I have been following this thread with great interest! I believe the communal model with small sleeping quarters with attached bath would serve my purpose quite nicely ;) I will, however have to wait an unspecified length of time as I have a living hubby who would raise objections to my moving to The Crafter's Hub.
I do enjoy doing more things than creating cards so I will also add my skills as a baker to the community. So the kitchen needs to be fairly high end! I used to sell baked goods from my home back in the day and was very successful in my town, especially at this time of year! You will have more buns and pies than you know what to do with
Man-caves for the guys; garages, workshops; an adjacent lake and trout streams for fishing. A nine-hole golf course.
A heliopad for delivery of supplies. Guest quarters for when family comes to visit. Library. Movie theater.

We better add a gym to work off those cals though. As frustrated as I can get making a card, I sadly dont think that burns many. Of course we need a nice massage team.
Just have it all delivered! Unless you are talking food, in which case I volunteer to do grocery shopping as I am very fussy about produce and DH is about meat, so I suspect he would want in-depending on how old we are, we will need a driver.

We can burn the extra calories off by making more cards! Lol

I'm a walker so all I need is a walking track or year around good weather outdoors. Have we settled on a location for our crafter's paradise? Personally I don't need water or palm trees but some of you might.
Amber I had told you I would come over when I visit Vegas but now I might have to visit your sisters first. Lucky me ---I'm in Texas. Tell her to warm up the die cutting machines --- I'm bringing my sleeping bag! 😀😀😀

Awesome house, beautiful weather (usually) and it's 10 minutes from town so you can get groceries, food, etc.
My BFF comes every year and cooks for all of us. She doesn't stamp but loves to cook so it works for us :p
I've not been to this house, but I have attended a couple retreats at the house they had before.
It's been awhile since I was on a scrap retreat, but the last three or four times we've rented this place up the freeway in Winchester: Scrap Retreat House at French Valley, CA
It's in a housing tract and there are strict rules on parking. The beds are much too soft for my taste, but I love everything else about the place.

Yes, we had rented the "old" house in Escondido for a couple of years. Parking was a drag there. The house now is in Fallbrook. It's about as far north as we can get our friends to go. It's 1 1/2 hour drive for me from my house. We have some friends who come from Jamul and Chula Vista so even Fallbrook is quite the trek for them.
The house is French Valley is beautiful! TFS! Wish we could get that far north!
Sorry to hijack the thread....;)
