Hey!
i am a current servicemember, coming to the end of my enlistment. i have decided to lay down roots in Michigan, detroit area....i'm looking for the skinny on the crafting world there. figured scs might be the place to do that =)
I'm a former Michigander, currently transplanted to Indiana. So jealous! Wish I could get back home!
Michigan has a great group of stampers. As a matter of fact, there's a SCS Michigan Mingler's event coming up in February in the Detroit area (Novi, I believe). You can find more info here under Events.
I believe there are two Archiver's stores in the Detroit area. One is in Sterling Heights, but can't recall where the other is. It will be on the Archiver's website.
There's also a great stamp store in Northville, and I think it's called Stamppeddler Plus. It's in an old church, very cool. Northville is a cute town.
My family back home is thrilled to have an IKEA now. So many cool options for crafting, too.
Hello! I also am a former Michigander, I was born & raised there, just out side of Detroit in Dearborn. I still have family there and go there usually every summer. Where are you moving too?
Good luck to you & also "Thank-you" for your service to our country.
Lashay, welcome to SCS. I lived in Ann Arbor for just a year, but that's kinda irrelevant since I'm no longer there. But it seems you still need some real suggestions. The best I can think of is to hook up with a SU and/or CTMH demo there and do an online lookup of small craft stores in the burb where you'll be. Once you find the stores, there will undoubtedly be classes, workshops and whatnot. There, and through demos, you will have lots of oppotunity to both get what you need in the way of supplies and have an opportnity to meet your new network. Good luck finding your niche.
Where abouts in the Detroit area? There is an Archivers in Novi.
Stamppeddlar in Northville is a Fabulous store. I belong to a stamp club that meets there once a month. I met ome wonderful friend through that club. PM me if you want!

Hi there,
I live in Windsor, Ontario and I go to the Detroit area and suburbs all the time for the craft stores. There are tons of Michaels and Jo-Annes stores in the area, and like already mentioned there are 2 Archivers. There are 2 Hobby Lobby stores also. One in Taylor and one in Sterling Heights. There is a nice stamp/scrapbook store in Taylor too. Hope that helps a little. Oh, there is also 2 big scrapbook/stamping shows every year in Novi, Mi. One is in May and one in August. I prefer the one in August for stamping.

As a couple of others said you must check out Stamppeddlers in Northville. My DH is from Michigan and we used visit every year. I'd always go to Northville and would sell demo cards to the owner. Then of course I'd spend all the money in the store! lol They have everything this little country girl could imagine. We have nothing like it here in South Carolina. Geeze even the big store in Atlanta isn't as nice! You gotta check it out!
Hi! There's an Archiver's in Novi and also one in Sterling Heights. I'm originally from the northern suburbs of Detroit, but now live in mid-Michigan, and I wasn't into stamping when I lived in 'the city' so I can't help too much more.
The Michigan Mingle is in March and there are currently 6 spots open! You can find all of the information here:
The chat thread moves quickly - here's the latest: Chat Thread
Be sure to stop in and introduce yourself - whether you make the Mingle or not! There are ladies from all over in Michigan who can fill you in on the stamping scoop wherever you land in our great state . The Detroit area is pretty widespread but there are members from all over.
Congratulations on your move and thank you for your service .
My sister in law lives in Livonia and I visit a couple of times a year. We always make a trip to Stamppeddler in Northville and there's a store in Livonia called Scrappy Chic I liked a lot. It's more scrapbook than stamping but it was very nice.
I live in Michigan, in Redford! It's the first suburb west of Detroit. Welcome!
I'd second the recommendation for Scrappy Chic.. It's a great store! There are lots that have closed up around here, but that one is still going strong.

Another Windsorite here - I hop the border all the time to shop. The Archivers I go to is in Novi just down the street from the Twelve Oaks Mall. Then across the street from Twelve Oaks is a JoAnns and a Michaels. I have never tried the Michigan Minglers event so thanks to those who posted the link. Also never been to the scrap/stamp shows in Novi, but planning on going this year for the first time.
Welcome to Detroit - home of the Detroit Red Wings, Lions, Tigers and Pistons!
