Question MOST VERSATILE SU ALL OCCASSION SET?

I AM LOOKING TO PURCHASE A GOOD, VERSATILE, ALL OCCASSION STAMP SET. I LOOKED THROUGH THE GALLERY, BUT WAS SO OVERWHELMED WITH ALL OF THE SUBMISSIONS. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE/BEST SELLER?

I'm a Stampin' Up! demo--my job is to convince you that you 'need' many sets!! It depends on the time of year and your stamping style! Right now I'm excited to create with the cute snowflake stamp in the mini, I also just ordered 'Glad Tidings' for my Christmas SAS. Last year I used 'Best of Cluck' alot this year it could be 'Eat Cake' or 'Wild About You'. I love 'Roses in Winter'. Does this help at all??

Well, I'm NOT a SU demo so my job is just to help you out. For an inexpensive set that is very versatile...just doesn't do Christmas...All Natural can't be beat. It has a very timeless style that lends itself to fun, casual or more formal. How about the new artfully asian as well? Leaves, flowers and you could put some red berries on the branch to make it like Christmas. Lovely as a tree is very versatile as well.Petal Prints is my all time favorite "work-horse" bit it wouldn't help you with Christmas or masculine cards.

I am a demo, and I always reccomend Tags 'n' More to my new customers who ask the same question you did. You get birthday, Christmas, Winter in general, anniversary, sympathy, Chanukah, Fall, thanksgiving, valentine's, Easter, baby shower, girl card, boy card, there are so many, it's nuts!! I'd say go with that one.
Almost all the customers I reccomend get it and love it.

I like Tag Time!

In addition to some of the holiday stamps it also has a couple presents and balloons. I just love that set!

I'd recommend to get the new Happy everything set for sentiments AND another all occasion set ( I like all through the year, tags and more, all natural, natural beauty)

Sketch an Event (now retired) was my favorite... but Shapes and Shadows came awfully close, and now I am enjoying All Through the Year. Love the cherries in that one!

I know it's an oldie, but I still reach for Mini Mates a LOT! A lot will depend on your own style. Some sets are casual, like Mini Mates. Some can go either way. But I do like Mini Mates, Tags and More, one or more of the greetings sets. I still reach for All Year Cheer I quite a bit.

I'm a new SU demo and I would definetly recommend Tag Time. It's perfect for every kind of card. It does holidays & occasions. I also like year round fun 2, the only thing with that set though is that the stamps are kinda small.

I agree w/ Tag Time, but I really really like Good Times which is now retired, but can always be found on ebay, or perhaps on selling board right here on SCS!!

Another vote for All natural. I wasn't too sure about that set when I first got it but I have used it again & again & again. I also love Sincere Salutations, you get almost all the phrases you need in that one set & they are in a pretty font!

I agree, or if you like teddy bears: Favorite Teddy Bear or if you want more detail and like watercolor Feathered Friends- but it doesn't cover Christmas.:(

I agree with Stamper4 - Lovely as a Tree is so versatile. It is great for Christmas cards, but there are many cards in the gallery that were made for other occasions. I just love that set.

I think my tops as far as versitility goes are mini mates, a greeting for all reasons, and sketch an event. I think loads of love is cool as well because you can make all the different holidays but I don't know if it is quite as flexable.

I absolutely love my Lovely as a Tree...didnt think I would use it as much as I have...but it works for everything from Christmas to sympathy. Of course you would need a sentiment stamp too and I havent even decided myself which of those to get...although I do like the Sincere Salutations.

"All Occasion" as in covering every occasion, greetings included? Choices include:

Greetings Galore -- a set you have to color, a little, so it's not too overwhelming. Covers Christmas, not holidays, so that may be a factor. Has almost every occasion covered -- except "get well". Sentiments are together with the images.

A Greeting for All Reasons -- a set to color but only a little. "Merry Christmas" limits use for holidays. No 'get well' sentiment, no 'baby' sentiment. Sentiments are separate from images.

Feathered Friends -- a set to color, with a lot of coloring. No holiday sentiment, but there is a 'miss you' sentiment. No 'get well' sentiment. Sentiments are included with images.

Figures of Speech -- a set to color, but only a bit. Holiday sentiment with Christmas trees. Does cover most occasions but no 'get well'. Sentiments are included with the images.

Mini Mates -- solid stamps! Many sentiments, including 'happy holidays' and 'get well soon'. A popular set. Sentiments are separate from the images.

Nice & Easy Notes -- stamps to color, about medium amount but still not too bad. Has a 'get well soon' sentiment. No 'baby' or 'wedding' sentiment. Some think this one is 'old-fashioned' but others love it. Sentiments are included with the images.

Little Hellos -- stamps to color, a little bit. A good mix of sentiments but no 'get well'. 'Happy holidays' has a Santa, which may limit use. Cute words can be mounted separately from the images if desired. But as provided, the sentiments are included with the images.

Favorite Teddy Bear -- a coloring set but can be used without. Three sentiments (thank you, happy holidays, happy birthday). A little more complicated than the others, perhaps, with the ability to put items in the wagon or in the bear's hand. Sentiments are separate from the images.

A Little Love -- a coloring set, only a little. Mix of sentiments, with no 'get well'. More 'friend' oriented than 'occasion' oriented but can be used for a variety of occasions as well. Sentiments are included with the images.

Loads of Love (with Loads of Love Accessories) -- a coloring set. Specific style (truck). Has a mix of sentiments but no 'thank you'. Certainly images could be used for a large variety of occasions. A little more complicated than the others, perhaps, with the ability to put items in the truck. Sentiments are separate from the images.

Simple Wishes -- the least expensive of the bunch. Has four sentiment stamps. No 'get well' or 'happy holidays'. Sentiments are attached to the images.

Simple Sketches -- Two-step stamping. Three sentiments (happy birthday, thinking of you, thank you). Some people find this set difficult to use as there are three stamps for each image. Sentiments are separate from the images.

Nice and Narrow -- coloring set, but very little. Three sentiments (happy day, little one, very merry).

This list is not meant to be all-inclusive, of course!

Now, my opinion? When I was a new stamper, my first sets were 'Little Hellos' and "Simple Wishes". However, knowing what I know now, I would go through the catty, pick a set I like and pair it with "Sincere Salutations". Sincere Salutations has pretty much every sentiment, including get well. And I've come to prefer having images that are separate from the sentiment. It's just more versatile that way.

But for a (new?) stamper who wants to buy just one set, I think you can't go wrong with Greetings Galore. The images are a nice size without too much coloring involved. Most of the stamps are on the feminine side but there is a leaf image. There is no get well but you could use the envelope of hearts without the sentiment (just put masking tape over the words). If you pair it with one of the background sets with four small blocks (like Itty Bitty Backgrounds or Fresh Fillers) it would add to the versatility.

HTH!

I use flower sets for most any occasion so I agree with Petal Prints as a great all occasion set. However, if you are wanting a set with greetings and image Greetings Galore is a great set for this. You have the option to trim the greetings separate from the image by mounting the greeting on the end of the wood block. This makes it even more versatile.

I have often thought that if I had it to do over again, I would be MUCH more careful! As someone who was brand new to stamping, I made the mistake of thinking I needed whatever my demo was demonstrating--this is not only costly, it's an inefficient way to shop. If I knew then what I know now, I would definitely begin by purchasing a few versatile sets while concentrating on building up supplies / tools.

Anyway . . . that's my rant! My vote is for Greetings Galore & Sincere Salutations. Sketch an Event was another good one but is now retired. While these are not necessarily my "favorite" sets, they are versatile.

Petal Prints or Lovely as a Tree are my vote.
They can be used for nearly anything and I use them tons more than I ever thought I would.

I would also say you need a good versitile sentiment set too like Sincere Salutations or one of the AYC sets or the Happy everything is a good one too.
