Michaels has a teacher, military, and senior discount. My question is for anyone signed up for one of these programs. How does the discount work when placing an online or in store purchase? Does the discount show up on the receipt or on the order before placing the order? Do you see the discount or do you need to have customer service make adjustments after the purchase? Please share your experience. Thanks in advance!
I haven’t shopped Michael’s online, but in the store, the discount comes off at the end. I believe it prints out with the discounted price, and tells you how much you saved. Discount doesn’t apply to clearance.
Senior discount used to be only on Tuesdays. Is it daily now? I hadn't been in the store since March 2019, and I recently went there for 110 pound cardstock.. I did show my membership card but didn't think to look for the discount.. I know it wasn't a Tuesday, it was a Friday. Thank you for the tip !
I clicked on that link and it says stupid stuff like 'you can sync it to your rewards card' ....Ha! I'm well a senior and don't even know any benefit to using my rewards card, let alone know how to sync anything!

It's a shame we seniors have these issues... the younger generation has pretty much grown up with technology... and just don't get it that we didn't. They laugh at the old TV shows where people look for phone booths, or have phones in the homes that are wired in one room. Even though they missed a lot, we are now missing a lot on the advancement of technology. Can be extremely frustrating. I have a Tracfone, although it's an android, I don't use it as my walk-around computer and also have no clue how to sync items. We're all in the same boat.. but learning a little at a time. I think we focus more on the value of people than of things. I'm not saying the younger ones don't, just that we aren't into the same things.. . LOL
I think I can help here. I’m fairly tech savvy for my age.
A cashier told me that I need to download the app. I am an educator, and have gotten a 15% discount at Michael’s for quite a few years, but that is no longer the case. So, I downloaded the app on my phone (just go to the App Store and search for Michael’s). Now, when I go to Michael’s, I put in my phone number, which connects to the app, and gives me my discount. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have. I should add that I have an iPhone, so I’m not too familiar with the android.
Does anyone know how much the senior discount is? If it’s 20%, I should find a way to switch over.
You don't need the app for the discount. They use your phone number. If you provide an email address, they send you coupons. Those are the same coupons available through the app, as far as I know.
Ok, maybe not the app, but somehow you have to register your phone number so it knows who you are when you put in your number. Maybe you register at Michael’s.com?

I agree with you and feel like the world is ignoring people who aren't glued to their phones 24/7 - I hope that changes. It's not just insensitive, it's shutting out people who might have more disposable income and free time for hobbies.

Yes, that's how I did it. If you register on the website, you provide your phone number. That's what they use to identify you.
