Default Making clouds

I see some cards in the gallery that have beautiful "skies" ... with nicely made clouds. I cant seem to make my clouds look nice, no matter what I do. Any tips? Should I get the cloud, moon, star template, or does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

I have the template. I find it super easy to use and always have clouds I like. I don't think that I could do it without the template.

I always use the template - I uploaded a card into my gallery yesterday (the Unfrogettable one) that I used it on

There's a clouds template in the catalog - which I bought, but can someone tell me HOW you use it?! Do you use pastels, or sponged in, or what??

Wow....I never saw that before. I would think that you would sponge around it....just my guess.

Here's a cheap substitute. Get a piece of glossy cardstock, cut out a cloud shape, lay it on cardstock, and sponge over it. I do this all the time! Just keep repositioning it until you've got the desired effect. HTH

I'm cheap, too! I did that for some cards last year! But, I"m really cheap, it was just used paper I cut up! LOL!

Smile Stamps available too...

I am going to have to try the template idea -- for more variety. But in case you would like to take a peek, the clouds on this card -- Choo-choo and this Choo-choo 2 came with the train set. It is still available. Maybe the clouds come with other sets too.
The maker is Vera Dobbs. Her ebay seller ID is vendibles. She is a very nice lady to contact regarding any of her stamps. Just click on the "ask seller a question" button.
Just thought you might like to know.
P.S. Vera does not list all of her sets every day, so this particular one, "Victorian Train Set," may not be on her list just now.

I just use the sponge daubers (regular sponges don't give the same effect) and white craft ink. I can do different sizes & shapes of clouds that way.

My dear son told me to make clouds using a cotton ball and white craft ink. They turned out really well for me.

On white cardstock I use the template from SU and bashful blue ink; but I use a stipple brush to apply the ink, it works great!

I have large and small Sizzix dies, and use the frame (not the insides). Glad I found this thread, tho - would rather demo the SU template and SELL them! LOL

I make actual pictures of clouds, using my digital camera, print them out on photo paper & stamp over that...can make several cards from one picture.

I have the really old template (the moon/stars replaced) and use pastels w/it, usually done in various shades of blues. I use a cotton ball.

That is what I used for this card....super easy to use and you can use it also for dry embossing. Another perk is that is easy to wash off!
