Default Looking for ideas

Hobby only but looking for a suggestion on what I can take to work on at sports practices. My son is taking fencing now (? I know!) and 2 hours 2-3 x a week I sit in a little glass room. There is a table in there but I don't want to be that obnoxious mom with her stuff all over the table. I am looking to do multiples if sets for gifts right now. Just seem to get totally stuck when I start to plan.

That's so cool about the fencing! I was just watching some videos by Amy Tangerine and Jennifer McGuire about stitching paper and stitching felt. There are so many seasonal things you can do with dies and paper and felt and stitching, and the projects are adorable! I think just sitting there with a needle and thread won't be too obtrusive :-)

Default Some ideas

I hate sitting still without something to work on, so I have taken the following things to work on on those situations ( would not even need to use a table):
- quilling
- coloring pre-stamped images with markers or pencils
- cutting out detailed images
- needlepoint/cross stitch

Stampin'Up! offers you the best self-contained box of goodies: Paper Pumpkin. I love the little red box because it's all together and you can just put together those simple designs.
It is a monthly subscription and there are many others on the market.

Good luck in finding the perfect project to take with you. My personal favorite project is making Christmas cards, which I work on all year round.

I would stamp a bunch of images then take the paper, a clipboard (in case there is another mom hogging the table) and your coloring medium (markers, pencils) and spend time coloring. Or take all your card parts and some adhesive and build your cards. Or better yet, since you are working on a bulk project: take stamping stuff one day, coloring stuff another, cutting stuff on a different day and gluing stuff on yet another.

I don't do any yarn crafts, but I have a friend who travels with her knitting and have seen people crocheting while waiting for their doctor's appointment. Cross stitch or embroidery would also be simple, space saving crafts you could keep in a tote bag.

Or it could be a good time read a novel, catch up on those magazines, cut out or copy recipes or do a bit of writing.

As a former fencer myself I think that is way cool! You can do it your whole life, like golf. If I didnt have a bad knee, I would have.

If you are looking to do gift sets, I would stamp and color a series to go together in the pack. I love the clipboard idea-very smart! Say a grouping of seasonal...maybe spring since that's next up. Do a spread of sentiments...Thinking of you, Get Well, Sympathy...all work with flowers and birds.

You could even watercolor if you take a waterbrush and some paper towel to wipe it off on. It wouldnt look odd to have a water bottle with you and you could refill the pen with it. Then just pop your sentiment on at home, pop the panel on the front of a card and you're done

Tip: Opposite most sports, points are bad here. You take a point for getting hit, so the less points the better. I dont think my mom ever got that The best safety direction I ever got was NEVER raise the blade, or be near others' raised blades, without your mask on. EVER.

It's a great sport. He's going to love it! But it takes a LOT of practice hours and training-we did ballet exercises to strengthen the legs and gain flexibility.

Sometimes it's slow at our business so I have a bunch of precut card bases and take my ScorBuddy and just score and fold the card bases. Sometimes I take pre stamped images and my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and water brush to color the images.
