HELP
I need some ideas for organizing my punches. I like to keep them out in my work area where I can just grab them but now have them in drawer. Any ideas?? Where do you keep yours??
I can't remember the magazine I saw it in, but they bought a 2 ft metal strip (about an inch wide and 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick) with a hole at each end and hung it on peg board hooks. The punch goes right over the metal -bottom end of the punch toward the wall. If you don't have pegboard/slatwall, I'd just use nails. If I remember where I saw it I'll post the article.
I have the cropper hopper punch holder...bought it a gazillion years ago but it holds three different sizes of punches and can be hung over the door or mounted to the wall. But yeah know, I think a shoe organizer would work just as well.
Well I'll share what I have. My pics aren't very good because I didn't take the shelf off the wall and it's in a rather dark place right now, on the wall under the top of my desk. But it's within reach and that's what I wanted. In the second pic, I took some of the punches out so you could see how they're held in.
I use the three-drawer white laminate unit from Target. I was using plastic shoe boxes and didn't like it. The drawers are sturdier than plastic and seem to be working fine for me.
The wall-mount system is really nice, though. I use mine fairly frequently, but might use them more if they were in front of my face!
I have two of these clear shoe holders. I put one on the back of each door in my laundry room which is connected to my stamping area.
I used to just keep mine in a deep bin in one of the white stackable Iris carts but it was hard to find what I wanted, especially as I acquired more and more punches! So, I went with the clear shoe holder as shown above, it works well for me as I do have a door to a closet in my stamp area and it's so much easier to find what I want now. A little bonus is that when people come over to stamp, they are very impressed with my punch collection! ;-)
Another vote for the clear shoe holder. Especially for the big stamps. I used to have too many things in tubs and drawers and I used them very little when they were out of sight. Now I find myself grabbing them all the time because they are within view and easy reach in the shoe holder.

This is what I did and I love the system. Cant remember what magazine either that I saw it in. I dont have mine on a pegboard though. They are attached with a long screw that has a hook on the end. Its easy to put them up in any small space you have. The metal strips can be found at any building supply store-Menards in the area where I live, and cost less than a dollar.
The cheapest solution for me was the shoe holder over the back of my door. I like some of the on the wall solutions, but the back of the door was not being used for anything else.
