Default Liquid Applique to the Rescue!

I first saw this at the Regional SU meeting in Columbus and I came right home and tried it but it has become a lifesaver! They put liquid applique on a sponge and sponged it on a stamp and stamped with Liquid Applique. Then heat set the image and color it with chalk! Last night I needed a Craft pad to ink on dark card stock. Vanilla was too light of a color and I really needed Caramel but I only have White and Vanilla so I used the Applique technique and colored it caramel with chalk and it was great!

Has anyone else tried this and besides making snow ball what is your favorite use for Liquid Applique?

Laurel

Was the liquid applique difficult to get off the stamp? I'd hesitate before I put glue type substance on a stamp.

No, I just used stampin Mist and the scrubber to get it off after doing about 10 cards and then started all over again. It gets down in the grooves of the stamp but the mist takes it right out!

I too, have not tried applying it directly to a stamp, but have used it (brown) as a center for Margerite daisies and put tiny seed beads around it to make it more real looking. I have also seen it used (white) on a marshmallow with a House Mouse stamp. It would probably look good also for popcorn, train smoke (grey), other flowers or flower parts (various colors) or possibly ocean surf.
I also am wondering about cleaning the stamp when applied directly. Could you let us know?
TIA,
Claudia

Default Popcorn

Gram, you are right. It looks great as popcorn. I have used it. It looks very real. Also, I have used it as snow for trees, and frosting on Gingerbread houses.

When I use it as snow, I put it on and then sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds on it and let it rest overnight. Then I heat it and it turns out cool. The sooner you heat it after putting it on the puffier it gets.

All I know. HTH

At Columbus Regionals they used a flower from WaterColor Garden II and did the applique stamping with the flower and then the colored the puffed flower with several colors of chalk with yellow in the middle going out wards to orange and then burgundy...it was so pretty and I came home and made one...if I can figure out how to post a picture I will.

Maybe I'm a complete airhead, but how do you color it with the chalk? :? Are these the Stampin' Pastels? Do you use a q-tip like normal? I've only used the Liquid Applique once and we sprinkled clear ep on it before heating it.

Thanks for the help!

I too would love to know how to color on liquid applique?? Are these the Stampin' Pastels? Do you use a q-tip like normal? Would it not squish the applique?

I color it with a q-tip or sometimes with my finger if it is a bigger area. I have now uploaded some pictures here for the first time. This one will be in the Watercolor Garden II or I guess in my gallery.,,,but I am so new to it. I did see it on the site so I know it is here. The Applique just picks up the color so easily with a q-tip! Try it...it is so fun and it makes stamping on dark CS so easy!
