I haven't seen any talk about the 'Kitsch Flamingo' or 'Salvaged Patina' Oxides yet. IMO they are fun colors, but very close to others in the line up, so they don't fill a hole in the palette for me. I would have preferred to see a new entry in the purple/violet/red violet colors or a really rich butter yellow. There are only 3 darker purples, Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserve & Wilted Violet.
What do you all think?

I bought Kitsch Flamingo, since I didn't have a pink in the Distress line. Salvaged Patina, however, is so close to other colors in the line that I think I'll pass on this one. I love the color, but I was disappointed. Oh, well. No one can please everyone, and life will go on.
I got the pink bc I dont have a lot of pinks in any brand...but I think I am passing for the first time with patina. I agree. Too close to other colors. Maybe I will change my mind if I see it in person.

I hear you, Margot. It might find its way into my cart if I see it somewhere, but I won't be in a rush to buy it.
I agree about Salvaged Patina...too close to other blues that I already have. The color comparisons are fun but they just convinced me even more that I don't need Salvaged Patina. Wish they had gone more green with that shade because I have some patina embossing powder by Ranger (really old) that I just love.

On the Ranger and Holtz sites I thought the new Patina was closer to Lucky Clover, but Jen Shurkus' comparison didn't show that color. Hers makes it appear more bluegreen than shocking green.
I agree with what most are saying here. The pink I will get, but the blue the others will get me close enough to that shade that I can save my money.

What a great idea Kazeka! Matching the Ranger Patina EP!
The Shurkus makes me feel more like I dont need it. Too close to Peacock Feathers.
salvaged patina is lighter/less intense than Peacock Feathers. The two colors play well together in my opinion. Salvaged Patina is the the perfect aqua/blue sea toned color that has been absent from the distress line. I think the name is totally wrong for this color - patina implies that it has an aged look to it (it does not) and salvage implies something dinged-up and dingy (which it is definitely NOT).
Other than the screwy, non-descriptive name, I love everything about this new color!

I agree that the name of this color is misleading, which causes some crafters to steer clear. I expected something completely different, and so am disappointed.

I think it is important to remember that Distress Inks are NOT meant to represent "true" colors. Tim addresses this in his video about the latest color. He also gives a suggestion for making your own colors if you want one that isn't yet available. The colors in the line are meant to be distressed colors, hence the product name. I personally love the new Patina color. Patina is a distress color in nature. The whole point of this latest color is to get a true patina look.
I don't agree with those that say the color name is misleading. Have you not ever seen something that has a patina? I'm curious why you think it is misleading.
I would highly recommend that you watch Tim's video on YouTube. He explains the color and provides inspiration. It may also clear some misconceptions that many seem to have about this line of product.
Now I'm wondering if I NEED salvaged patina which I was about to buy. Will check the comparisons again. One purchase I'm not at all sorry about is DO Kitsch Flamingo--gorgeous real pink! But then, pink is my favorite color, so take my opinion with a grain of salt--haha!
The name "Salvaged Patina" works, IMO, because to me it looks just like the patina that copper takes on when exposed to the elements. A lot of historic buildings where I live were built with copper roofs that soon took on this solid, luminous colour (or like when I saw the Statue of Liberty up close, for that matter). As a kid I thought all the buildings' roofs were painted and asked how they got the colour to match exactly on so many buildings, LOL. Then it was explained to me that they'd all started out shiny copper.
Have the mini distress inks been discontinued? I have all and love them. They don’t take up much space. I have bought refills for them all as they of course won’t hold as much ink as the bigger pads . I find them easier to hold and use than the big pads. Also bought just the refill on the pink flamingo. Will have to clean a light colored extra pad to put it in. Hoping they will make the new colors in minis. Need to get the patina one. Looks beautiful! I know they said as of now the oxides won’t come in mini due to formula so I am buying just the colors I love in hopes they do make minis eventually. I got so spoiled with all my minis contained in tins. So easy to take out a whole color palette at once or take with to craft somewhere else.

The minis are being introduced in sets of 4. (Salvaged Patina is #1 in the next set, so 3 more colors.) Here's the latest one:
Thank you! Deb I need to get these ASAP! So glad they weren’t discontinued!
According to Tim's live video, the mini cubes will be issued after 4 new colors have been introduced. I think Ranger would have mass hysteria on their hands if they discontinued the mini's!

I think so! They are my favs. I had a Michael’s coupon and already ordered the set online. Along with some other things I probably didn’t need lol. But I did find a slider die and a wheel die I think I will use. Thanks for the info
I was surprised that Kitsch Flamingo is a color i din't have in my inks because I find that most pinks have a red, orage, or blue tint where this one doesn't. I was going to pass on the patina but after watching Tim's introductory video I decided to give it a try.
If I could only have one color (perish the thought!), it would be Salvaged Patina.

Peeking in to see if you were all talking about the latest DI color.
I bought the Patina & got it in this week. I did the whole set of Oxides & the regular ink. I can say hands down this is one of my most favorite blues of any of the inks I own.
The Distress Ink (not Oxide) is such a beautiful shade of blue. It reminds me of the sea. It goes so well with the other blues in his collection, especially Tumbled Glass & Mermaid Lagoon.
Now, the Oxide, IMO, does have a more traditional Patina look. I really like that. I usually don't like aged look on anything. I know quirky. Patina is the one age look I do love.
I will definitely power use this color. A lot of you have known me a long time on here so you all know how critical & nitpicky I can be about products. If you are on the fence about Patina I hope this helps.
I bought Kitsch Flamingo a couple of months ago. I think it was a couple of months ago, lol. I love Kitsch Flamingo so much. I never had a shade of pink like that in any of my inks. I just adore it. I love the Oxide, I love the regular Distress Ink. It's just the perfect pink especially for those of us who have a lot of pink inks and are always looking for unique hues.
I wanted to add one more small review if you own the Archival Ink Garden Patina (Wendy Vecchi) that is just a stunning Patina color that goes well with Tim's new Patina line.
I'd have preferred to see a dark blue-violet or a plum color rather than yet another variation of teal. I'd be interested in a light warm gray, too. That buttery yellow suggestion is good as well. When the Distress line first came out, I really preferred the Adirondack colors. I've grown to appreciate the browns and more murky colors over time, but I was happy to see more pure hues as they were added.
