Looking for suggestions of a dark brown dye ink. Similar to CTMH Cocoa ink, but that one pulls so green. (Darker than CTMH Chocolate and Versafine Vintage Sepia.)
How does Rich Cocoa (Memento) compare - in terms of color - to Timber Brown (StazOn)? I'm debating on getting a refill for my parched StazOn pad but I like Memento inks too and don't want too many shades of one color (space issues esp. since I prefer full pads).
The absolute best (because it kinda' changes tone for you) is Versa cat eye thingy Chestnut Roan. Best brown ever!
this is the ink that my LSS recommends and I know many stampers swear by it. I have it and can't get a good image. Go figure. Hands of the stamper vary and all that.
Another vote for Memento. Especially if you have clear.

I have the Colorbox Fluid chalk ink Chestnut Roan in both cats eye and full size pad..I love these especially with clear type stamps. The color is very rich and dark.
blessings.
I vote for the Memento's Rich Cocoa as well, especially if you color with Copics. It works great for those..., and so would the Adirondack as well. Good luck!!

my fave dark brown ink is ColorBox Chalk ink in --- dark brown! LOL! the name says it all! i like chalk inks for stamping, but that's me.
The Color Box Dark Brown is also my favorite dark chocolate ink. The Momento rich cocoa is a bit wimpy (IMHO) as to coverage and richness, but it is good for copics.

Stazon Timber brown has a hint of red/orange where as Momento Cocoa does not.
SU Choc chip is a great rich dark brown (my fav). The new Early Espresso is really dark (think of mixing black and brown) and is yummy also. May become my new fav.
Well now, I have a lot of brown inks because it's one of my favorite colors to use. :p So I created this little chart for y'all. I scanned it, so the colors are not quite as vibrant as the original, but it will give you some idea of how they compare to one another. I used a vintage style diamond-shaped stamp (so those irregular edges and blank spaces inside the diamond are supposed to be there--haha!)
Click on the chart twice to enlarge it.
Here's how I see them (from darkest to lightest):
Adirondack Espresso: a very dark brown. Obviously has a lot of black in it.
Stazon Timber Brown: Dark brown, almost more of a brown/black. (I think my pad might need reinking.)
Memories Art Print Brown: Rich brown with a red tint. Reminds me of melted chocolate chips. (On the plus side: this pad has stayed juicy for years!)
Memento Rich Cocoa: more of a milk chocolate; obviously has more white in it. This is a brand new pad; just a couple of months old.
Walnut Stain Distress ink: dark brown with a black undertone. I use this a lot so the pad has been reinked several times.
Vintage Photo Distress ink: brown with an orange undertone.
Ancient Page Chocolate: Ignore this. I think the pad I have is too old and dry to get a good idea of what the color is truly like.
Does this help?
ETA: I also have Stazon Saddle Brown. I forgot about that!

Thank You!!! Now I have info needed to decide if I reink my dry pad )probably not) or use a different brown. SU Choc. Chip is one that I like and I think I have Memento Cocoa ... somewhere . Early Espresso sounds exciting!

I dearly love my Adirondack ink pads & have most of them, but they, as well as SU ink pads, don't work worth a darn on clear stamps. The ColorBox chalk inks, the Brilliance, and CTMH ink pads work the best on clear stamps. The CTMH were formulated for clear stamps.

You are an angel to have made this color comparison chart for us!!!
Memento Rich Cocoa is my favorite as I like to color with Copic markers. I can stamp with it and color right away without the need for heat setting, and the alcohol markers do not make it bleed or smudge!
That was a real handy color chart. I need to get some browns too. I like stamping my images in browns and grays for a softer look than harsh black all the time. Thanks for making it and sharing.
colorBox Fluid Chalk Chestnut Roan is my all around fave. It dries quickly and gives great coverage, plus the Fluid Chalk inks work well with clear stamps. If you want to emboss or do a blending technique that requires a longer drying time, Colorbox Classic Pigment Chestnut is a nice deep brown, and Brown is a great medium to dark tone.
