It's interesting how important names are. When I got married I was very happy to take my husbands name because I had a hyphenated maiden name and I was tired of writing out 13 letters everytime I had to write down my last name. Plus when filling in multiple choice test sheet was a real pain (sometimes they didn't give enough space!). I did however take half of my maiden name as a second middle name - mostly so I could have the initials HAWK instead of the initials HAK. .
My isn't very creative. I love to stamp that's how I got stampin. I am crazy about stamping. My name is Jennifer and some of my friends call me Jen. That's how I came up with my name stampincrazyjen.

My real name is Bev and I became Bad Bev 31 years ago when I joined my sorority. The same year I came in there was also another Bev joining. Now the other Bev is conservative, soft spoken, always agreeable - in general all of the things I'm not. I, on the other hand, was the person who cracked jokes, had crazy ideas and had to be told to "shush up" at meetings. All habits I have trouble reigning in now that I am president of our chapter! Anyway, the sorority sisters dubbed us "Good Bev" and "Bed Bev" and I've been Bad Bev ever since. In the interest of trying to live up to my name, I have been known to skinny dip, stay out way too late with the girls and ride topless on the back of a convertible to celebrate a full moon. Only to live up to my name, of course!
I don't post here much, but I read a lot; so I thought this was a good chance to reply. I use "Chairlady" for two reasons. First of all, for awhile (until carpel tunnel and my thumb joint demanded), I covered chair pads for my husband's business. The second reason is that I have an addiction to buying chairs--comfy ones; I always have my eye out for a spot that needs a replacement or a new arrangement!
OK, not really creative, but... I figured everybody here were cardmakers, so I could be a cardmaker2 ...Not sure what I would change it to if I could, so it is as good as any, I guess!
After viewing the SCS gallery and reading threads for several weeks, I decided to post to a thread. Not having joined a forum previously (nor any others since), I didn't know if I should identify myself or use a fictitious name. I noticed several people's names seemed to identify the area of the country in which they live, so I went with that. I live in the northern portion of the beautiful Ozark Highlands region of our state.
When I turned 16, I got a cherry red 65 Mustang fastback. I lived in small town and it didn't take long for me to get myself pulled over by the local boys in blue. The officer lectured me for about 20 minutes about the responsbilites of driving. He said, "this little red rocket is going to get you in big trouble missy if you don't watch it!" I'm almost 30 and the nickname has always stuck!
Wow this is an interesting thread, I have enjoyed reading everyone's explanations - some names are for the reason I would have thought.
When I first got access to the internet many years ago I needed a name for a chatroom - the first time I picked StampNut but after leaving the chat that day I realised that whatever name I chose would end up "sticking" and I didn't want people calling out StampNut at a convention or something LOL
I chose StampOwl - not because I have late night stamping sessions - which I often do btw (I have been known to go to bed at 1am or 2am if I am stamping something.
The Stamp part of my name is obvious - I am a stamp aholic - I don't suppose I think of much else LOL
The Owl part is because I also collect owls - I don't have as many owls as I have stamps but I did have quite a few - there are owls in most part of the house. So it I decided to combine my 2 loves - Stamping + Owl Collecting = StampOwl
It looks like I may have to lose some of my owls I have in a display cabinet (for a while anyway) as my DH is planning on building me a new cupboard to help store my overflowing collection. I am sure it will be worth the sacrifice LOL
I'm LittleSeaOtter because one of my favorite things to do is to go out in a boat and watch the sea otters off the coast of Alaska. They are just too cute. Unfortunately, I'm in Ohio so it doesn't happen often.
Mine is fairly boring....
Name: kisamari
Meaning: Kisa (first name) Mari (middle)!
I went with that because I was worried that Kisa Peters (my last name) wouldn't be accepted. You pronounce my first name just like Lisa, but someone might misread it and pronounce it like Kiss-a..etc., You get what I mean, I'm sure.. My daughter tried to create a user name once and she was so surprised when it was denied, and it said, "Peters" was a bad word and was not accepted.
When I first came upon this site I thought you had to be a SU demo. My daughter, the demo, is named Andrea and we have always called her Andi Pandi so I signed up as her. Oh what a tangled web we weave.
Contrary to popular believe, I am NOT a former pageant winner. If you saw me in a bathing suit you would understand. LOL. Anyway, some professional colleagues of mine started calling me Miss Iowa because, in their opinion, my work in our field put the state of Iowa "on the map", as the saying goes. Besides that, some of my other nicknames are too long to be used as a screen name, for example: Goddess of the Western Hemisphere. Snort! The 81 refers to the year I graduated from high school.
I did the same as many others when I joined.......I did not realize what I was getting myself into and how much time I'd spend on SCS. The first thing I thought of was starr4. My last name is Starr and what I dearly love is my grandchildren and I have 4 of them.
Oh I love some of these stories.
My DH is a police officer and while we were dating, once he was in a slumpy mood so I started acting kind of goofy and making monkey faces and noises at him to get him to cheer up....so the monkey part stuck.
So, now I am a cop's monkey!
My name is Carolyn Sue, but I've been called SuzyQue by friends since elementary school, and by some family members even longer than that.
I was surprised when I got to use it because it was usually already taken. On another board I was SuzyQue in Tx so that I could use it.

Okay, please excuse me if this is long-winded, but you asked for it.
For those who do not automatically recognize Mistoffoleese, it was from Cats. December of 88, my husband and I for our 1st anniversary went to see Cats, at that time our female cat Lady Contessa was pregnant. My husband and I fell in love with the show. When she gave birth, she two lovely kittens, whom we named Macavity and Mistoffoleese. Mistoffoleese was our "special" kitty, he ran into things so much as a kitten, you could tell that it took him just a little longer to think things through. What he lacked for in brains, he made up for by his affection, and his many special quirks.
When I finally became minimally computer savvy. I found out that I had to have a screen name and for me it was easier to keep the same one on different sites. Contessa was my first choice, no luck usually taken, the same with Macavity. So then I tried Mistoffoleese, very seldom is it used on any of the sites I visit, so Mistoffoleese it was.
Recently at the 2nd Arlington SCS swap, steubner (Hi Shannan) came up to me and told me that every time she sees my name, she breaks into the song from Cats. It makes me smile, because I still like walking around singing music from Cats.
In the interest of trying to live up to my name, I have been known to skinny dip, stay out way too late with the girls and ride topless on the back of a convertible to celebrate a full moon. Only to live up to my name, of course!
Hurray to Bad Bev for being true to herself!
"munchkin" is a nickname that i picked up in high school from being the shortest of the bunch. and is still true to this day.... very vertically challenged compared to most of my friends
25 is how old i claim to be for the rest of my life i refuse to get old!!!
Back in the day I was (and still am) a HUGE San Francisco 49er fan.
However, since having my toddlers (almost 2 and 3yrs old) I don't really follow football as much anymore. But, that is the screen name for everything under the sun, so I chose it. Had I known how involved I would be on this site, probably would have chosen another, or at least capitalized the S and the F!! Hugs,
what a neat thread...I always seem to freeze up when I have to pick a screen name or even a new password for work. Not sure why this should be so difficult. I chose my screen name - rubyanne28 - because
ruby is my birthstone (july) - anne is my middle name - and my birthday is on the 28th.

My name is Valerie Jo + Deed is part of my last name. As most people over 40, I just need to pick one screen name to use so I dont forget....hehehe
**My favorite posting here is Chedette. I laughed out loud at this post, and know exactly how something like this can start. People have heard talk between my husband and I, and think we have created our 'own language', that no one else understands.
what a great thread to read!

I do too, and I laughed when I read it too. My hubby and I don't have our onw language...he tells me I have MY own language. He claims he can't understand me when I speak "Texan". I often say an entire sentence in 2 syllables or less

I have called my husband 'Bubs' (his real name is Alan) since we got married. I wouldn't dream of calling him by his real name. To me, he will always be my 'Bubs'.
Since he is gone on expeditions for long periods of time (his passion is high altitude mountain climbing) we try to make every moment count. I know that having these more personal and private names helps us remember to cherish our time together.
So...my name is the female version of 'Bubs'. It helps me to think of him whilst he is away.
