I have a question for anyone who has downloaded their favorites folder as a zip file. If I do this and put it on my USB mini drive, will I be able to view each card in my favorites just like I do online. In other words, does it show the thumbnails and then allow access to the full size card with all the info on it? Or does it only do the thumbnails, or only the full size card pages, or is there another way it displays?
Diane - when you download your favorites, the pictures all end up as .JPG files in a zip file. So, you extract all the .JPGs from the zip file into a folder. You could use your file manager (or Windows Explorer) to view the thumbnails of the Jpegs... or your photo editing software even.
But they are all individual files.
Also, when you download them, they stay in your favorites... so if you don't like it, you still have your SCS favs.
I love the downloaded pics because in my photo viewer, I can enlarge them to see lots more detail. You only get the photos and not the descriptions of how the card was made and the items used, but that will still be in your online Favorites (unless a card is removed).
It's a great feature to get our favorite pics on our computers, so thanks SCS!
That is just what I was looking for...What I am in the process of doing is putting a copy of the cards in my faves into iPhoto. That way I can do a slide show of a particular set on the screen.
A further question...does it put the thumbnail size jpg or the full size jpg in the zip file? (I could try it but I can't do it until tomorrow at least)
I WAS doing it the slow way...go to the card, open-apple click on the photo and add to my iPhoto library. (I think that would be a right click and "save picture as" if you do it on a PC.) Then repeat for every single card in my faves! Way too long a process.
What I was hoping was that the little zip icon next to the words "Home >> My Favorites" (just above the page numbers near the top of the page) would do that a whole lot faster!!!! I'm going to try it tonight or tomorrow and see what happens!
I just did this--downloaded my favorites and WOW! It was quick and now my favorites are there for me to OOGLE away on my own computer! I am so impressed--how long has this feature been there?!? Thank you for sharing this info!

I've clicked on that thing a MILLION times, and for some reason it "looks" like it's downloading just fine, and then the file when I click on it says that it's "corrupted or invalid". I emailed "tech support" about it, but got no response. I don't know why this happens. It happens when I use the AOL browswer as well as when I just use Internet Explorer. I don't have problems downloading other ZIP files, etc. It's frustrating to me!
Hum, I'm clicking on that little icon (download favorites as ZIP) but nothing is happening. Absolutely nothing!! So I'm going to subscribe to this just in case someone figures it out!!

Oh this is fabulous!!! I didn't know I could do that...I did it and it worked! I only had 453 pics in my favorites so I didn't have any problem and it was super quick. Now when my cable goes out again (like it did most of the day today!) I can still look at my favorites! Thanks!!!
I THOUGHT mine wasn't working last night...until I took a look at the data transfer light on my cable modem...and it was going a mile a minute! It took a while (I have about 850 in my faves) so don't give up. Nothing shows that it is working until it is done downloading and zipping, then it asks where you want it to go. Now, I haven't UNzipped it and looked at it yet so I have yet to see if it worked right...will let you know.
I just get a blank screen when I try to download the zip too. Any ideas? Maybe as someone says we have too many favourites? I'd love to know as I've posted this a few times now and haven't had a response...

I have less than 200 favorites and each time I download the file (whether I "open" it OR "save" it) it says that the file is invalid or corrupted. I've used different browsers and everything. I will have to try it on my laptop when I set up my wireless network....hopefully it'll work there. It's VERY annoying, since that's such a great feature to have, that it doesn't work! :(

Hmmmmmmmmm, this is my EXACT experience. I gave up trying a *long* time ago, and eventually just created a new folder on my hard drive and did "save as" up until recently when I was not happy hot receiving the creator's info when doing it this way. So I went back to doing my faves, and will just keep doing that until I feel the need to try otherwise again.
