After doing my first sweep of the new catty I got to looking around my stamp room and started feeling extremely GUILTY!
I know I don't have anywhere near as much "stuff" as some of you but I figure I have equal to or more than some of you who are knocking outWOW! KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF cards.
I have 50 SU stamp sets and a bunch of other non SU ..all classic stamp pads plus 6 new ones ..all markers, pencils, pastels ..a minimum of 5 sheets of every color plus a multi pack of new colors
There is no reason for me to be sitting on my generous backside and not making cards.
I even discovered I had 10 stamp sets that were not even mounted.:(
Poppa is way too great about this new found hobby for me to let it all go to waste.
I have CHALLENGED myself to mount all my stamps and then do a minimum of 3 cards for every set I have.
Not only do I need the practice but I will have a sample card plus a couple in stash to send out.
I am going to start by spending as much time as I can this weekend cleaning in here and discovering just what all I do have then getting myself busy creating(well maybe "case tweeking" some) cards.

Great idea! I just spent yesterday organizing my stamps into "categories" (like birthday, Christmas/winter, kids/cute, birds & bugs, etc.) and this weekend would be a great time for me to actually USE them! I feel the same way you do - that I tend to amass stamps more than stamp with them!
Here's to making some great cards and having a stash of handy greetings when we need them!!!
Granny,
I am in the same boat! I'm a hobby demo whose main thrust is to make birthday cards for my 96 year old father to send to all the family. I have one very loyal group and I feel obligated to them to demo new stamps, techniques, etc. Needless to say, STAMPS are taking OVER! One of my goals this weekend is to re-organize my storage of stamp sets (AGAIN!), and try to make more headway on my swaps for convention (afterall I leave for 1st session in just 16 days!). I guess several of us will have a very busy weekend.
Happy 4th of July and best of lick with your organization and challenge!!
Hugs,
Rena

Oh, Granny, this so sounds like me. I collect stamps because I like them, then don't stamp as much as I would like to. Life has really gotten in the way the past several months, but maybe now I can get busy and stamp more.
D
Great goal! I need to spend less time getting stuff and more time using it!
One idea for mounting....I try not to put a set away until I have mounted it and stamped with it at least once! (Sometimes that is just on scrap paper to make sure nothing is upside down, etc.) I know you got a lot of sets at once so that is harder....but maybe if you mount a few and then take a break and stamp with them it might be more fun. How nice of your daughter to help with the mounting!
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
Oh I am DEFINITELY with you on this, Granny! You sound just like me with all the unmounted sets. I won't be able to work on any cards/samples this weekend (we're going camping), but I can at least take along all my unmounteds and get them set up. Another idea I want to do is scan each set (mounted or not; including non-SU! stamps) and print them out to place in an inventory notebook. Between SU! (my MIL's a demo), TAC (I'm a demo) and what I get on eBay... my stamp collection has multiplied faster than rabbits and I can't keep track!!
Good for you, Granny,,,,, I felt the same way a while back and I started making cards for holidays and sending out 35 or so.... then we started doing a monthly card swap in our stamp club so that was 8 more I had to make, and if there wasnt a special holiday that I wanted to make cards for, I have a group of internet friends (about 15) that i send a Just Because or friendship card to. I also try to do a season one like Happy Spring or a Summer one. Last September, there was a "hug your Teddy Bear day" so I made cards with a bear on it and sent to all my friends. One of my friends posts a calendar of all those "special" holidays on another community site and sometimes if I have stamps for it, I make a card and send,(that is where the hug your teddy came from). Any excuse to send a card. It works for me. All this has pretty much taken care of my guilt. LOL,,
so there ya go Granny,,,,,,, you can do it, Of course, one thing about all this is that I am constantly thinking of card ideas.. That does tend to make me a little nuts,,, you go from guilt to obsessive... :p

Way to go, Granny! I have that same guilty feeling too with about the same amount of stamps. ;) Doesn't it feel good to sit down, organize and create? I can't wait to see what you come up with. Have fun!!!
Way to go Granny! I recently pulled all of my sets out, made a list, and then organized them by size in a dvd/cd media tower. It is holding 60 sets! Good Luck and I can't wait to see the beautiful cards you make.
Go for it Granny! I put myself on a "stamping diet" until my birthday near the end of July - so I can use more of the stuff I already have instead of just buying new. But my problem isn't so much stamps as the things to color them with-I have markers, prismacolors, watercolors, acrylics, soft pastels, stick pastels, pastel pencils, watercolor pencils, watercolor crayons, twinkling h2o's, pearl-ex, perfect pearls, and an almost endless supply of glitter. But I already cheated, Jo-Anns Essentials embellishments are half off this weekend and I have a coupon for an extra 10% off and it's such a good buy, how can I not buy some!
