I bought some beautiful brown glitter...I love the glitter colors. I also bought some glitter tape and stickers shaped like leaves and flowers for the glitter. I also bought some beautiful ribbon. I can't wait to go home and play and will put cards in the gallery as soon as I get them done! It's really pretty stuff...I'm sold....
I went to Michael's yesturday, and I was sad to see that all they had up was the empty shelves and signs. Grr, I made the half hour drive in for nothing!

We went to our M's today and they only had empty shelves and price tags. The lady working there said they would have it in by Sunday. I asked about the gloves and she started laughing and said they were only to put up the big sign since it scratched easily.
My store didn't have all of the ribbon or other stuff out yet. I did like the glitter. The container was a hefty size. I don't know. It seemed expensive, but then after seeing what I pay for other stuff, I guess it is okay. I must say that the stamp is very nice. The rubber is great and not flimsy at all. I hope she has more stamp sets.
I haven't really seen 18x18 paper until now but I don't scrapbook much and I think it is geared more for that genre than card making. Unless you have a big cutter, it's pretty bulky but the colors were fantastic. $1.99 per sheet.
I really like the 24 sheets of vellum (8.5x11). It was 7.99
I guess in the end, if you have nothing else, it will be a good thing. Like it or not, I think it is here to stay.
Our Michael's has the Martha Stuart stuff now too. Just picked up the free flyers. But she does seem to have some cool stufff.

So does anyone know what this huge paper is for. It's super duper large. She does sell wrapping paper but his isn't for that. I'm sure it must be more for craft projects of some kind. but not sure what.

She probably has a lot of legal bill to pay off. *DOH*:p
I was gonna say that! hee hee
Martha's stuff has always been kinda pricey in my opinion.

I went to my local Michaels on Tuesday and they had a lot of the new Martha out, but a big display in the aisle was mostly empty so there was obviously more to come.
My reaction is mixed. A lot of it was obviously geared toward party supplies and party decorations - party favor bags, stuff kids could make at a party, tissue paper carnations to make for decoration, etc. That stuff was ok, but not really what I was interested in.
I did buy a border punch which I love - 2 sort of scallops with a flower in each (and shhhh! don't tell, I was able to use my ac moore 50% off coupon).
Probably wouldn't have bought at full price - $15.
I was impressed with all the glitter colors (but I don't use a lot). If you do, there's a huge amount in each jar for the price. Also a variety of glues to go with the glitter.
The mounted stamps seemed to be mounted on MDF(? really cheap "wood") but I liked the birds. I would have expected better quality from Martha. There were only 2 sets of mounted stamps at our store. There were a lot more clear stamps and acrylic mounting blocks.
Overall, I guess I was kind of disappointed but maybe that big empty aisly display will have more stuff that I like.
It's a good thing? You did not just say that. HARDY HAR HAR HAR...
You CRACK ME UP!!! LOLOLOLOL
Okay...you got me...sigh ::ducking again:: Hey! If you're going to throw something, can ya pick a sponge instead of a "punch". Get it? Gawd...corny jokes...
It's for the 24" square scrapbooks. I think they must be meant to permanently stay on a coffee table. They're huge!
OMG...I don't scrapbook but they really have 24" scrapbooks??? Oh my...well, then that paper is perfect but yikes..it wouldn't even fit on my coffee table! I would like to see a completed one, though. I love to go through scrapbooks! Especially if they have nice stories.
So Okay - I went to my Mikes after work yesterday just to take a peek at the new MS stuff. Wow - it was so awesome. I loved it all. I didn't buy anything yet, but I have a list a mile long. I thought it was beautiful; but that's just my opinion.
I went yesterday and not everything was on out, there was still a lot of empty space. I did like the display. ;)
I liked what was out and I thought the patterned paper was pretty. Im going to go back this evening to see if more was added plus hopefully the Cuttlebug Folders will be unloaded off the truck!. ;)

I bought some stuff too!
Well, Martha's color choices for storage are exacty the same color accents I have in my craft room. Particularly, my area rug I bought on clearance last fall from TARGET.
I bought the baker's twine. I think it was $5.99 for six different colors equaling 72 yards. I did buy a kit to make tissue dahlia's (16). Everything is pre-cut...which is wonderful. Oh, an some ribbon. The ribbon is gorgeous. I agree some of the things are a bit pricey, but some are reasonable. They have a charm bracelet kit for $10 perfect for a pre-teen to put photos of her friends etc.
I guess it all depends on what you really like and what you can live without.
I love the ribbon boxes and I am considering getting a couple. They are #1 attractive and sturdier than my SU ribbon keepers. I AM a demo, but somethings work for me and others don't.

Maybe it is a coffee table, you know like what Kramer tried to get published on Sienfeld?

Hi ladies! Just a reminder that you can request a coupon at the counter of M's for your M.S. goodies. That makes it even more worth it...It's 40%off one item this week. Happy shopping!
does anyone go on darcies website? she carries big paper also, and alot of her big goodie boxes and projects are made with bigger sized paper. i guess if you were wrapping a lg. round tin, you might be able to use this size of paper.
i can't wait to see her line, but i'm out of commission for a few weeks due to rotator cuff surgery. of course it has to be the same arm that i write with.
i love the birds and the colors that you incorporated into your card.

Is this a special coupon? the regular coupon in the paper excludes the MS items...

You know, Michaels won't lose the business Martha will. Give it time, like Cricut, there will be special % off. The thing I think with a "big name" like Martha Stewart...she's taking more of a risk. They need to test the market in ALL demographics to see how her product flies. She's always had a small craft product available only on her website. I think once the hype is over with...you will see more competitive pricing. I mean Michaels will be the only place you can get her goods. I wouldn't be surprised if the line changes with the seasons. Then you know there is going to be some price slashing for new stuff.

This may be in one of these threads and I just didn't see it. BTY, the examples you did post are beautiful. I looked at the punches and really liked them. Has anyone bought them and if so, are they easy to use. TIA!!!
Okay, so I finally went back to Michael's to see the rest of the items because when I originally went to the store, they only had a few items out (some of which I bought). Now that I have seen the majority of it, I really like it. I love the ribbon. I thought it was really beautiful. They had more packs of paper in a variety of colors, designs, and styles (crepe, cardstock, dp, etc). I still love the glitter and the glitter pens, etc. It's a really big bottle of glitter.
If you go to the General Stamping forum and check out the other Martha thread, someone actually made a comparison of the Martha Stewart line and the SU products and it turns out that Martha's stuff (some of it, anyway) gives you more bang for your buck! Also, SCS members there are raving about the punches. Apparently, they work great!
The large scrapbook is, I believe, based on one Martha has owned for quite some time. If I correctly recall, hers is placed on a lovely wooden stand, which sits on top of a table. It's very elegant, and it looked very fitting for the particular home it was in.
I found this line to be similar to other lines Martha has produced: exceptionally high quality, a few new twists on old standards, and with a style of understated elegance. Some of the items are geared toward people who are just being introduced to this area of crafting, while others are perfect for more experience crafters.
It's very interesting to see how many SCS posters have been fixated more with Martha than with the products (not so much on this thread but on others I have read). The bashing is...well, I hope it settles down.

I was wondering what my M's was doing last weekend when I was there...there was a bunch of stuff in boxes and empty shelves. Guess I will have to go this afternoon and look at it for myself. You all have peeked my interest.
Ok, I wanted to see the NEW items at Michaels today..I wasnt impressed. Just my opinion. They did have some nice things..But HOLY COW, did anyone see those GIGANTIC scrapbooks of Martha Stewart. I dont have any place to keep those. And being in tornado alley, I'm not going to be able to grab that hugh book along with my others. Oh well. Didnt but anything today. They didnt even have any new clear $1 stamps..I love to shop for bargains..Nothing on sale even at my Michaels.

I had to check it out like everyone else. M's isn't allowing coupon use because the Martha line doesn't allow it. I bought the beautiful glitter--some very unusual colors. I also bought some pretty paper flowers & of course a glue pen for the glitter. There is a cute locket to make. There is lots to see!

Please let me know how you like the glue...if there really is anything special about it. I was tempted to get it for all the glitter I already have...but this stuff is handy in anyway. Let me know!! I think I am going to buy the charm bracelets for my nieces and her 2 best friends....they will be 11. They have birthdays within weeks of each other. Her friends call me "Tantie" and have sleepovers at my house. I think it's those things that make Martha's line special.
I, too, hope the bashing of Martha ends soon too...she's a business woman and there are just some things you can't help but like about her products.

I made the comment yesterday at coffee with some scsers that the super huge cs could be used for the bigger 3-d projects
-like custom file folders or envies for standard sized pages
and also by window dressers
-hinge a couple together for a cute room divider or backdrop for a display
and for a "bridezilla"(I was one) to make a backdrop, lay under the cake, to coordinate with MS invites and scrapbooks etc...
or to make a family reunion scrapbook-poster-presentation-type display
JMHO/ideas, off the top of my head
can't wait to see the line...is it in Canada yet?
anyone?
online?

Went to Michael's today to check out Martha Stewart line. They are still putting it up! Didn't see any glitter, ribbon. Couldn't browse much because they were working in the aisles. Guess I'll check back later in the week.
TFS, Miabel! I went by M's today. They had most of her stuff out. She has some very nice stuff! I loved these birdies! They're good sized not widdle at all. They're rubba, wood mounted and enclosed in pkging. I like to SEE the rubba and the cushion, etc. I didn't buy anything of hers, and, I may not ever. I'm still very put out over the coupon exclusion thingy. I use my coupon on a Marvy circle punch and my next coupon is reserved for an easel!
Ya'll have a blessed week, Stormy
bugs me about the coupn too, I complained to Michael's (yet again...they hate me...i did it with the whole Cricut thing too)

So sad that you have not been able to experience it yet. Some stores are just not as organized.
I love the title of this thread...it's like we have dirty little secret. Hey, she's a great business woman....sucked me right in. I tape her show daily, but if I don't like the guests, not making anything new, just cooking OR watching "Martha-menturies" (video tape about her trips around the world) it gets deleted. Same with Oprah.

Hahaha..you are too funny. Hey, has anyone written you about the glue yet? I am VERY curious about using it. I just might have to make a trip to the store and buy it. :(
I just read the article in the WSJ on Martha's scrapbooking venture and I don't know if I should be insulted or not? The author sort of makes scrapbooking sound like a craft for the simple-minded.
I have not checked out her stuff, and after reading the article I don't know that I want to!
"What does the domestic-arts maven see in a dowdy industry where merchandise is sold in cluttered stores stacked floor to ceiling with pipe cleaners, Styrofoam balls, glue sticks, beads and fake flowers?
"Paper crafts may sound like a quaint pursuit," says Chief Executive Officer Susan Lyne. "But it's actually a rapidly growing business." Preserving photographs and memorabilia in decorated albums -- enthusiasts call it scrapbooking -- has grown into a nearly $3 billion industry, according to the Craft & Hobby Association. Martha Stewart Living hopes to ring up enough sales of $1.69 colored markers, $4.99 bottles of glitter and other merchandise to generate $100 million of annual sales within three years."
