Recently, I was asked to stamp images for a person with a stamp set that is retired. She has offered to pay. What do I charge for this? I've never been asked to do this before and I don't mind at all but I don't know what is expected of me.

It depends I guess. Does the person want 3 - 4 images ? Then I would not charge her anything, and just do it out the goodness of your heart. If she wants 20 or 30 images, then maybe you might think of charging here for the postage and the cost of the paper.
If you decided to stamp the images - you might ask if wha kind of paper and ink she likes...... if you have more than one. People that use pencil crayons and gamsol like stazon and Georgia Pacific paper, or SU Whisper White, but those that use copics need a different ink so it won't run -and a different kind of paper , usually too.
That's the best I can answer. I've never charged anyone for images stamped - but then most people that have asked, only wanted 4 - 5 images.
Thanks Deborah, this pretty much answers the questions that I had. She offered to pay and I didn't know what the excepted practice was. I certainly don't mind doing a few. I appreciate it when someone offers to do that for me. Would it be exceptable to offer to stamp the images in that set, scan them, then email them to her and let her print them on whatever kind and size of paper she wanted? Do you think that would that break copyright laws?

I probably would not charge. It is against copy right of almost any stamp out there to charge for the stamped images. Even Angel companies typically specify that you cannot sell just the image.
So I would either
1) Give it to her for free
2) Have her pay for the paper and then just provide the stamped image on her paper
3) Exchange stamped images. So stamp some images for her and request some in return off of a stamp set she has that interests you.
I belong to Wish Rak here on SCS so I stamp images from my sets and send them to other stampers all the time. In exchange, other members of the group send me stamped images from sets they own.
When I stamp images for those not in Wish Rak, I either just send them as a gift or if it's a huge amount to ask for, I might suggest we do a trade like my stamped images for some of hers or for some paper or embellishments. But usually I just do it for free.
If you really want compensation, I would say charge a minimal fee just to cover the cost of the paper, ink and postage. It's illegal to sell stamped images. Just ask the people on ebay who tried to do this and were caught and charged. It's also a copyright infringement to scan in images and reprint them.
So glad to learn that it's not allowed to scan the image and print from it. That seemed the simplest and I would have went that route. I won't charge the person. She might have an image that I would like in exchange.
Thanks for everyone's help.
