Default I am color challenged!

I have the hardest time with colors. I know according to the Stampin' Up coordinating color list that gable green, lovely lilac and lavender lace go together but can I add green galore? How do you guys "just know"?

You can look at colors in home decorating magazines, look for rooms or page layouts that you like and pull those colors out. Or fabric at the fabric store, or in you "stash" if you have one, or clothes. Advertisements in magazines, and of course nature, you can't go wrong there! It sounds hokey to say sometimes you just "feel" it....but you do....or at least I do...sometimes.....and other times it's "what possessed me to put those colors together!!!!" Play around and try something..."unexpected"!!!

In addition to those good ideas you can look in the catalog or inspiration sheets. If you like the colors, look at the recipe in the back and there you have a color pallete that you like. You can do the same thing with the gallery here at splitcoast.

I cut cardstock into 2"x3" strips and punched a hole in the top and put them on a ring. Whenever I see a color combo I really like I swipe those colors onto the swatch with our markers. Then with a regular pen I write the color name and which family it is from EE, RR, BB, SS. Whenever we get those threads about fun color combos I bring out my little cards and markers and make the swatches as I am reading the thread.

I now have about 100 cool color combos that I look to whenever I need an idea in my little "swatchbook"
